The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 691
After looking through the photos, Matthias curled his lips. “Having a meal together doesn’t prove anything. Maybe they just ran into each other and ended up eating together.”
He didn’t believe Queenie and Lincoln would relent so easily.
If Wynn had a completely clean background, that would be one thing. But given how her mother had secured her position in the Locket family, he couldn’t see Queenie and Lincoln overlooking it so quickly.
Celeste said calmly, “When I had lunch with Beck earlier today, he mentioned it too. He said they’ve already agreed to the relationship.”
Matthias fell silent for a moment.
Truthfully, if he were in Queenie and Lincoln’s position, he might have softened as well—even if he didn’t like Wynn.
He let out a soft snort. “Since the Fleming family has relented, your divorce should go through without any issues. What about your daughter? Have they told her yet?”
“Probably not,” Celeste replied. “But that’s not something I need to worry about.”
“You’re right.”
Not wanting to dwell on the topic, Matthias raised his glass and clinked it lightly against hers before changing the subject.
…
Over the next two days, Celeste went to work as usual.
On Friday afternoon, she received a call from Jordyn, saying she would come to the Rodriguez residence that evening to spend time with her.
After Celeste agreed, Jordyn hesitated before adding, “But tomorrow morning, I’m going out with Dad and the others, so I’ll have to leave early.”
Celeste wasn’t surprised.
“Okay, I got it,” she said evenly.
Some newly generated data had issues, so Celeste had to work overtime. By the time she got home, it was already past eight.
Jordyn had genuinely been looking forward to spending time with her. Seeing how late Celeste returned, she couldn’t hide her disappointment and went over to hug her.
“Mom, why are you back so late? I’ve been waiting for you for so long.”
Celeste gently ruffled her hair. “Sorry, I had a lot of work to deal with.”
“Okay…” Jordyn leaned into her and began talking about the interesting things that had happened at school.
But before they could talk for long, Matthias called.
His voice carried a hint of excitement as he said he had obtained some interesting data and wanted to discuss it with her.
Celeste was intrigued.
Coincidentally, Jordyn was about to take a shower. Once she went into the bathroom, Celeste turned on her computer and connected with Matthias.
Matthias asked, “Didn’t she come over to see you today?”
“She did. She’s in the shower now.”
“So you won’t have time over the weekend?”
“Not exactly. She’s leaving tomorrow morning.”
“To be with them?”
“Probably. She said they’re going out.”
Matthias let out a short laugh. “So she talks about going out with them, but only spends one night with you? Then again, things are basically settled now. They’re probably in a hurry to have your daughter spend more time with Wynn—so she can accept the divorce more easily.”
“Perhaps.”
By the time her computer finished booting up, Celeste ended the topic and shifted the conversation to the data.
They became so absorbed in the discussion that she didn’t even notice Jordyn calling out to her after finishing her shower.
When Jordyn stepped out and saw Celeste on the phone, typing rapidly, she immediately understood that her mother was busy with work.
After calling once and getting no response, she had no choice but to call again.
“Mom, I’m done with my shower.”
Only then did Celeste snap out of it and turn around. “Okay.”
