Chapter 2405
“Elder, I apologize. I made a mistake,” Dustin said, looking embarrassed.
“Hahaha… No worries! It’s fine,” Arion Foyer chuckled heartily, then gestured toward Katy Foster. “Katy, bring out this young man’s reward.”
“Yes,” Katy responded, retrieving a jade box and placing it on the table next to Dustin.
“Young man, open it and take a look.” Arion Foyer smiled, nodding toward the box.
Dustin nodded and carefully opened the jade box. Inside were three crystal-clear beads—one gold, one red, and one green. Each bead glowed faintly, and inside each was a small snake of matching color, writhing and shimmering with life.
“Dracan essences?!” Dustin’s eyes brightened.
Recognizing the beads instantly, he marveled at the sight. He had encountered a Dracan essence once before, but he hadn’t expected to find three of them gathered here at Sacred Wyrm Summit.
“Well? Are you pleased with your reward?” Arion Foyer asked, smiling.
“Elder, how did you know I needed these?” Dustin asked, unable to hide his surprise.
“Master Foyer is exceptionally perceptive,” Katy Foster said proudly. “Nothing escapes his notice.”
“You honor me, Elder. Your wisdom as the old Heavenly Master is truly impressive!” Dustin clasped his hands in respect.
To his amazement, the Dracan essences were now within his reach. He had found four out of the five, and only one remained.
“Don’t celebrate too soon,” Arion Foyer cautioned, smiling. “These Dracan essences influence the world’s fate and will surely attract powerful forces to pursue them. Now that they’re in your possession, they’re both a blessing and a burden. Are you prepared to bear this responsibility?”
“I’ve made a vow, Elder. I must acquire the Dracan essences, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect them.” Dustin’s expression turned serious.
“Excellent! The men of Dragonmarsh should have such determination,” Arion Foyer said approvingly, nodding.
“Elder, you’ve given me a tremendous gift, so I have news to share with you,” Dustin added, changing the subject.
“Oh? Let’s hear it.” Arion Foyer raised an eyebrow.
“The Pantheon from the Western World has sent experts to infiltrate Sacred Wyrm Summit. Their target seems to be the forbidden area. I’m unsure if it’s for the Dracan essences or something else,” Dustin explained honestly.
“The Pantheon?” Arion Foyer’s eyes narrowed, though his smile remained. “Bold of them to set their sights on Sacred Wyrm Summit.”
“They’re well-prepared, so we must stay vigilant,” Dustin advised.
“Katy, handle this matter. Any intruder in the forbidden area is to be eliminated,” Arion Foyer said firmly.
“Yes!” Katy responded and left immediately.
The surroundings of Sacred Wyrm Summit had seen recent disturbances; it was time to restore order.
“Young man, would you like to know what lies within the forbidden area of Sacred Wyrm Summit?” Arion Foyer suddenly asked.
“This… isn’t really for me to know, is it?” Dustin hesitated.
“It’s not a great secret, so it’s alright to tell you.” Arion Foyer took a sip of tea and began to explain. “The strength of Dragonmarsh is tied to three elements: time, place, and people. ‘Time’ refers to cosmic laws, which I don’t fully grasp. ‘Place’ encompasses the environment—the mountains, rivers, and natural abundance—and it’s sustained by a dragon vein hidden beneath the ground.”
He continued, “This dragon vein determines Dragonmarsh’s prosperity. ‘People’ refers to the country’s leaders and those blessed with fortune, which together shield Sacred Wyrm Summit.”
“Are you saying there’s a dragon vein under Dragon Tiger Mountain?” Dustin quickly connected the dots.
“Precisely,” Arion Foyer confirmed. “It’s why I’ve remained here, watching over Sacred Wyrm Summit. This dragon vein isn’t only tied to our Summit’s fortune but to Dragonmarsh’s as well.”
“I see… So even after the royal dragon vein was destroyed, Sacred Wyrm Summit remained stable due to this hidden dragon vein,” Dustin said, understanding at last.
“Exactly. This dragon vein has not only preserved Dragonmarsh’s fortune but has also allowed my own cultivation to thrive, keeping me alive all these years,” Arion shared, revealing the secret openly.
“Elder, you’ve entrusted me with this knowledge. Is there a deeper reason?” Dustin asked, intrigued.
“Indeed, there is.” Arion Foyer smiled. “Human strength has its limits. I am almost two hundred years old, and my time is drawing to a close. I need someone to take over the responsibility of guarding the dragon vein, and you are the ideal candidate.”
