Chapter 2404
“The young always surpass the old!” Alloy muttered, both surprised and pleased.
Though Alloy knew Dustin was Seth Hughes’s disciple, he hadn’t expected him to defeat Glenn. The outcome was unexpected, but welcome.
While Alloy had lost the bet, he felt a sense of joy. At least the championship didn’t go to the Sword Union, and there was still hope.
Now, the most important goal was to win over Dustin.
Merely offering resources and promises likely wouldn’t be enough. Both the Sword Union and Mystic Arts Order were strong competitors.
To recruit Dustin, Alloy would have to think outside the box. After all, Dustin seemed to be close to Alloy’s two daughters. A well-placed strategy involving them could significantly increase his chances of success.
“After all this time, it’s finally a breakthrough,” Penelope said with a grin, clearly satisfied with Dustin’s performance.
Her granddaughter was still unmarried, and if Dustin could become her son-in-law, it would greatly benefit the Mystic Arts Order.
Although some might consider such actions unconventional, rules were made by people and could be changed.
After all, times were changing.
“How can a golden scale stay in a pond? It will turn into a dragon when it meets the wind and clouds!” Katy Foster sighed softly.
Before the competition’s end, no one had expected Dustin to emerge as the champion.
Dustin had truly surprised everyone.
When Glenn finally admitted defeat, Katy Foster stood up and declared loudly, “The game is over. I announce that the champion of this martial arts competition is—Dustin!”
The crowd erupted in applause and cheers, as loud as thunder.
The incredible performances by both Dustin and Glenn had convinced everyone. The battle was unlike anything they had ever witnessed.
The ring was shattered, and the protective formation destroyed.
Even after exhausting their energy, the two had delivered an unforgettable sword duel.
It was well worth the risk to watch.
“Hahaha… we won, Dustin won!” someone shouted.
“A small bet, a big win! Now I’m rich!” another cheered.
“Oh! What bad luck! I should’ve bet on Dustin!” came a regretful voice.
Some were ecstatic, while others were disappointed. Those who had bet on Dustin were elated, while those who backed Glenn sighed.
However, the few disappointed gamblers were no match for the overwhelming excitement of the crowd. The atmosphere was charged with energy, and Dustin’s name echoed throughout the venue.
After the competition, it was time for the awards.
The top three finishers were to receive prizes.
First, Abigail, who placed third, was presented with her prize, followed by second-place Glenn. Their awards were rare and highly valuable.
For both the Sword Union and the Mystic Arts Order, it was a notable addition to their accomplishments.
As for Dustin, the champion, he wasn’t handed his award immediately. Instead, Katy Foster personally invited him to the inner sanctum of Sacred Wyrm Summit.
Before the competition, it had been announced that the champion would receive a secret treasure, but its nature remained a mystery.
Dustin, however, suspected that the Ancient Sage’s Secret Treasure might be connected to the Dracan essences, which was precisely why he had participated in the competition.
After leaving the arena, Dustin followed Katy Foster through a series of doors until they arrived at the inner hall.
“You should rest after such an intense battle,” Katy said.
“I have something urgent to take care of. I’ll be quick,” Dustin replied.
“Of course. Tea will be served,” Katy Foster said, leading him to a seat and instructing someone to bring tea and snacks. She then excused herself.
It was dusk, and Sacred Wyrm Summit was operating smoothly, just as it always did.
Dustin wasn’t in a hurry. He drank his tea and waited patiently. As night fell, Katy Foster returned, this time accompanied by an elderly man.
The man was tall, round-faced, with a head full of white hair. His plump figure and kind expression gave him a jolly appearance, though there was a respectful air about him.
Seeing the old man, Dustin’s expression shifted, and he quickly stood up to salute, “Dustin greets the elder!”
Indeed, this seemingly ordinary, round-faced man was the legendary Arion Foyer—the world’s number one ranked martial artist for many years.
“Hahaha… Young man, don’t stand on ceremony. Sit down and relax,” Arion Foyer chuckled, patting Dustin on the shoulder, showing no sign of seniority.
Dustin nodded and sat, but his feelings were mixed. Though he had anticipated meeting Arion Foyer, being in the presence of such a legendary figure felt different.
The man appeared plain, but his presence was overwhelming, like the vast ocean. The higher the cultivation level, the more you felt the weight of his aura.
Even with Dustin’s own abilities, in front of Arion Foyer, he felt like nothing more than an insignificant ant.
“Please, sit as well,” Arion Foyer said, gesturing to Katy Foster, who had remained standing, before she joined them.
“Congratulations, young man, on winning the championship. In addition to the fixed rewards, Sacred Wyrm Summit is offering you a special opportunity. You can ask for anything, as long as it aligns with the principles of martial ethics. We will do our best to fulfill it.”
Arion Foyer made himself comfortable in his chair, smiling warmly.
Hearing this, Dustin’s eyes lit up. The value of this offer was immense. An opportunity like this was more valuable than any prize.
Still, Dustin wasn’t sure how to use it just yet. After a moment’s thought, he replied, “Elder, I haven’t decided yet. Could I save the offer for later?”
“Of course, no problem,” Arion Foyer chuckled. “But don’t wait too long. What if I die one day, and I’m unable to fulfill my promise?”
“Elder, you’re joking. You’ll live a long life,” Dustin replied quickly.
“Live a long life?” Arion Foyer was taken aback, then laughed even harder. “You’re a funny one.”
At that moment, Dustin noticed Katy Foster’s strange expression. He suddenly realized his mistake.
Arion Foyer was nearly 200 years old—whether he lived a long life was anyone’s guess.
Dustin realized he’d made a misstep in his comment.
