The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 704
Even though she said she was fine, the moment the words left her mouth, Jordyn pressed her lips tightly together.
Hannah noticed immediately and was about to say something when Jordyn’s phone suddenly rang.
Jordyn glanced at the screen and froze when she saw that it was Celeste calling.
Instinctively, she reached for the phone, but then suddenly turned her face away.
Hannah saw the entire reaction and instantly realized that Jordyn’s mood had something to do with Celeste.
She had noticed how attached Jordyn had become to Celeste lately. Although she didn’t know what had happened, she also knew Jordyn wouldn’t really be able to ignore the call.
So instead of persuading her, Hannah smiled gently and said, “I’ll go downstairs and warm up some milk for you.”
After Hannah left, Jordyn stared at the phone as it continued ringing.
She knew that if she didn’t answer, the call would eventually stop on its own.
Her eyes drifted back to the screen, and slowly, she reached for the phone again.
But just then, the call disconnected.
Jordyn’s heart tightened instantly as she stared at the screen.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she finally couldn’t hold back anymore and called back herself.
The call was answered quickly.
“Jo, are you done showering?”
Jordyn gave a soft hum in response.
Even though Celeste answered normally, Jordyn still felt a little sad.
Her voice carried a faint trace of hurt as she asked, “Mom, why did you only call once and not try again?”
If she hadn’t called back, would Celeste really not have called again?
Celeste explained patiently, “I thought you were in the shower, so I was going to wait a little before calling again. What’s wrong? Why are you asking that?”
Hearing that made Jordyn feel a little better.
“It’s nothing,” she muttered softly.
Celeste didn’t press her any further. Instead, she explained why she had called.
“Granny’s friend brought back a lot of local specialties from her hometown, so we’re making a bunch of good food tonight. Do you want to come over?”
Jordyn still felt a little down and didn’t really want to go at first.
She was about to refuse, but at the last second, she changed her mind.
“Yeah, I do.”
“Alright. Do you want someone to drive you over?”
Jordyn pressed her lips together before quietly asking, “Can’t you come pick me up, Mom?”
Celeste had already sensed that something was wrong from Jordyn’s tone.
After a brief pause, she replied gently, “Okay. I’ll come get you.”
Only then did Jordyn’s mood finally improve a little.
She waited at home for more than half an hour before Celeste arrived.
At almost the exact same time, Trevor had just returned home as well.
When he saw Celeste, he paused briefly before saying, “You’re here.”
Jordyn had just finished packing and was coming downstairs with her backpack.
“Mom’s here?”
Trevor’s gaze landed first on the backpack Jordyn was carrying, then on Celeste, who clearly had no intention of coming inside.
He immediately realized she was there to pick Jordyn up.
Celeste didn’t say anything to him. She simply turned to Jordyn.
“Let’s go.”
Jordyn looked back at Trevor. “Dad, aren’t you coming too?”
Although Trevor still didn’t fully understand why Celeste had suddenly come over so late to take Jordyn away, he noticed that she didn’t seem upset about anything.
Turning to Jordyn, he said, “I still have an online meeting later tonight. I won’t be going.”
