The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 697
When Matthias caught him fussing over Celeste, Kieran didn’t look embarrassed in the slightest. Instead, he greeted Matthias openly before turning around and heading back to work.
Matthias closed the office door behind him, sat down on the couch, and said, “Ever since he found out you drink a few cups of coffee to stay awake when you’re busy, he’s spent a lot of time learning about it. Looks like he finally ‘graduated’.”
Celeste froze for a moment.
Seeing her reaction, Matthias smiled. “What? Touched?”
“Not really.”
Something from the past suddenly came to mind.
As the thought crossed her mind, she unconsciously picked up the coffee beside her and took a sip.
When Kieran had brought it in earlier, she could already tell from the aroma alone that it would be good. But the moment it touched her lips, she realized it was even better than she’d expected.
Celeste understood coffee. With just one sip, she could tell how much effort Kieran had put into learning it. That level of effort probably wasn’t any less than what she had once done herself…
Completely unaware of what she was thinking, Matthias asked, “So? How are you feeling now? Better?”
He hadn’t forgotten the day she asked him out for a drink, only to be taken away by someone Zachary had sent.
Celeste set the coffee cup down and snapped back to reality. “I’m fine now.”
Seeing that she didn’t seem to be pretending, Matthias finally asked, “What happened?”
Celeste briefly explained the situation.
Matthias already knew Trevor had brought Wynn to meet Lincoln and Queenie.
After hearing about the frustration and hurt Celeste and her family felt, he paused for a moment before saying, “Sometimes the world really isn’t fair. But your grandmother isn’t wrong either. Dragging out the divorce with Trevor probably won’t do you any good.
“As for the Lockets and the Shaws, I believe they’ll get what they deserve eventually, even if it takes time.”
Celeste simply hummed in response. For now, that was the only way she could look at things.
So all she could do now was wait for the divorce from Trevor. Everything else could come later.
…
It was Friday.
That afternoon, right after school, Jordyn called Celeste and asked if they could go out for dinner together.
Celeste wasn’t especially busy that day, so she agreed.
Then Jordyn suddenly sighed. “Actually, I really wanted you, me, and Dad to go out together. We haven’t done that in forever. But when I asked Dad earlier, he said he had something to do and couldn’t make it.”
It really had been a long time.
But Celeste didn’t respond.
Jordyn didn’t seem too disappointed, though. She quickly perked up again. “It’s okay. Dad should have time tomorrow!”
“Mm,” Celeste replied softly.
After finishing work, she contacted Jordyn’s driver, and the two of them headed out for dinner together.
Jordyn wanted to try a lot of different dishes, but since it was only the two of them, they couldn’t order that much. Quite a few of her favorites never made it to the table.
She couldn’t help muttering, “If Dad were here, this would’ve been perfect…”
Celeste stayed silent.
After dinner, just as they were about to leave the restaurant, Matthias sent her a message.
Celeste opened it.
It was a photo.
In the picture, Trevor, Martha, and the members of the Locket and Shaw families were all seated together in a private dining room.
