Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3145

However, what truly shattered Vance’s resolve and drove him into even deeper despair was still to come.

Ramon and his forces had returned to Throne City.

Entering through the north gate, they completely sealed off the Coven of Heavenly Radiance’s escape route. Shouts erupted across the battlefield.

“Lord Ramon has returned! Kill them! Wipe out these invaders!”

The Ludendorff family’s morale surged instantly.

The Coven of Heavenly Radiance warriors were finished.

Ramon’s face was cold and unyielding as he launched a furious assault from the rear. With every swing of his greatsword, three Coven warriors were torn apart, their bodies brutally dismembered.

Tears welled in Iridessa’s eyes as she cried out, “Vance, let’s go! We’ve lost!”

Vance slashed wildly with his longsword, forcing Alonzo back as he roared, “No! I won’t be defeated! Hold your ground—we’ll fight our way out!”

His mind had completely unraveled, unable to accept this outcome. Yet in that brief moment of hesitation, he handed Ramon another chance.

Ramon’s forces sealed the Coven’s warriors inside Throne City from behind, trapping them with nowhere to advance and nowhere to retreat. Panic spread instantly. Order vanished as they were mercilessly slaughtered.

Had they retreated in an orderly fashion earlier, a portion of their forces might have escaped. But Vance’s madness had destroyed the Coven’s final hope of survival.

The brutal massacre continued for more than ten minutes.

At last, the final Coven of Heavenly Radiance warrior let out a furious roar. Before he could strike, Ramon’s greatsword came crashing down on his head. With a sharp crack, his body split in two, and he died on the spot.

In an instant, only Vance and Iridessa remained.

Tears streamed down Iridessa’s face as she screamed once more, “Run, Vance! If we don’t leave now, we’re both going to die!”

Vance threw his head back and roared toward the sky, violently spewing blood. Ramon laughed savagely and leaped into the air, joining Alonzo in a pincer attack. Two martial gods attacked Vance at the same time.

Even with his formidable strength, Vance felt the pressure reach its absolute limit.

The longsword in his hand bent under the overwhelming force, nearing its breaking point. At any moment, it could snap.

Vance roared and spat out another mouthful of blood. His longsword trembled violently as he slashed left and right with explosive power. At the cost of severe injuries, he blasted both Ramon and Alonzo away.

He laughed bitterly, then turned and leaped onto Throne City’s wall before diving down.

Iridessa stayed close, shielding Vance as they fled together.

Ramon’s expression darkened as he raised his sword to pursue. Alonzo, gasping for breath, shouted urgently, “Come back! Don’t chase them!”

“I… I need to rest,” he continued hoarsely. “Ramon, gather the remaining warriors and lock down the city. I suspect… Abyss City may attempt a surprise attack. Hurry!”

Ramon said nothing at first, but after a moment’s thought, he agreed.

At this point, chasing Vance and Iridessa was meaningless. The Coven of Heavenly Radiance was finished, and with only the two of them left, they posed no real threat to the Ludendorff family. Ramon had only wanted to pursue them to vent his rage.

Now that they had escaped, chasing them down could take who knew how long, with no guarantee of success.

Alonzo was right. Defending Throne City came first.

As he passed Alonzo, Ramon said viciously, “I came back to prove that I am no coward. I’m still the most outstanding member of the Ludendorff family. But Uncle Alonzo, I’ll still give you this warning—we can’t hold Throne City.”

Alonzo’s face turned purple as he clenched his teeth. “Even if we can’t hold it, you must stand with Throne City and the entire Ludendorff family until the very end!”
