Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3141

Petra’s battle armor was badly deformed, several sections crushed inward and shattered. His expression was dark as he strode up to Andrew.

“We were one step away from breaking through the southern gate defenses. Pulling back now feels like a waste. Everyone who died up there will have died for nothing.”

Andrew stood with his greatsword planted tip-first into the ground and replied calmly, “You did well. But I’m fully aware of the situation. Petra, you need to understand our ultimate objective—to take Throne City completely.”

“That means the Ludendorff family must be wiped out as thoroughly as possible, or at least exhausted beyond recovery,” he continued evenly. “Yes, we could force our way into Throne City at the cost of massive casualties. But let me ask you this—if we corner the Ludendorff family and they fight us to the bitter end, what happens then? They’re destroyed, but we’re left with barely any troops and mountains of dead. So tell me, how do we hold Throne City afterward?”

Petra froze. After a moment, he said quietly, “I understand. From now on, we’ll follow your plan.”

Andrew nodded. “Go reorganize your men. In the next assault, your troops will stay in the rear. Our Highland Tribe allies will lead the charge.”

Nyx stepped forward, grinding her teeth. “Arya hasn’t seen the last of me. Honey, how are you holding up?”

Seeing the tears threatening to spill from her eyes, Andrew smiled faintly. “Don’t worry. I’m still breathing. Nyx, we’re just one step away from living freely in the Wastelands. Once this is over, no faction will be able to threaten us again.”

Juno rushed over, speaking rapidly. “You were dead on! Ramon, that breakaway warlord from the Ludendorff family, really was planning to hit us from behind.”

“But the Highland Tribe didn’t move a single soldier. They stayed on full alert the entire time. Back in Abyss City, Chief Wieser and his men never let their guard down either, so Ramon never found an opening. After scouting us out, he pulled back.”

Andrew sneered. “The Ludendorff family looks isolated and desperate on the surface, but no one knows whether Alonzo and Ramon are secretly coordinating, putting on a show for everyone else.”

“Imagine this,” he went on coldly. “Everyone assumes Ramon is no threat and pours all their firepower into Throne City. Then Ramon strikes from behind while Throne City attacks from the front. That would be a catastrophe.”

Juno grinned. “Exactly. Ramon didn’t try to take Aurora City at all. That so-called secessionist must’ve had a change of heart. After seeing no opening on our side, he led his men straight toward Throne City’s north gate.”

“It looks like he’s planning to flank the Coven of Heavenly Radiance from behind.”

Andrew said icily, “War is a filthy game, and none of us can avoid getting dirty. Vance and his Coven are finished. He was cautious, calculated every step, and even hid a trump card. But in the end, he still lost.”

Nyx added coldly, “In the end, Vance was still foolish. He wanted to reap the greatest benefits from this decisive battle, waiting until we drained the Ludendorff family dry before stepping in.”

“He came out to pick up scraps and found out it wasn’t that simple. Instead, he got flanked. He thought he was the hunter, but he became the prey. Ironic, isn’t it?”

Andrew replied calmly, “Vance isn’t stupid. This war started when the Cathedral’s army descended on the Wastelands and dragged on endlessly. Too many people, too many factions have been wiped out.”

“The Cathedral was clever. The Dark Clans were even more cunning. But in the end, there were no winners—only losers. If I hadn’t been forced into this corner, I would never have wanted to do things this way.”

Nyx spoke softly, “Honey, you sound a little down.”

Andrew forced a smile. “Not really. I just think fighting to the death like this is meaningless. But once you’re in the game, you don’t have a choice—you have to play.”

He sighed, then said firmly, “All right. Everyone rest here and wait for orders. In the next round of attacks, we take Throne City. And while we’re at it, we wipe out the Ludendorff family—along with Vance’s Coven of Heavenly Radiance.”
