    Chapter 2473

    “Brothers! Kill them!”

At the command, the Red Fire Army of the General’s Mansion unsheathed their swords and charged at the law enforcement team without hesitation.

Nearly a thousand soldiers had been deployed this time, giving them not only overwhelming numbers but also the advantage of a pincer attack, leaving the law enforcement team with little room to defend.

    “Shield formation!”

Realizing the danger, Manuel immediately ordered his men to sheathe their swords, raise their shields, and form a defensive line.

They had pursued too far ahead and were now separated from the main force. Facing an enemy ten times their size, a strong defense was their best option.

If they could hold out a little longer, reinforcements from the palace would arrive.

At that point, these thousand Red Fire Army soldiers would be the ones at a disadvantage.

    The two forces clashed violently.

The Red Fire Army was an elite force personally trained by General Cardinal Dragon Marshal—fiercely loyal, highly disciplined, and capable of taking on multiple opponents at once.

In single combat, they might be slightly inferior to the law enforcement elite, but in large-scale battles, their numbers and relentless assault gave them a crushing advantage.

The law enforcement team was struggling to even raise their heads under the relentless onslaught.

If not for Manuel’s incredible strength, which allowed him to bear most of the pressure, their defensive formation would have already collapsed.

“Ziggy! Trevor! You dare attack the law enforcement team?! Are you openly rebelling?!” Manuel bellowed in fury.

Killing law enforcement officers meant outright defying the palace—a crime that would leave them with no place to run in all of West Lucozia.

“If you dare assassinate our great general, what does it matter if we commit treason?!” Ziggy snapped without hesitation.

“That’s right! Tonight, we rebel!” Trevor declared boldly.

Their status, wealth, and power all came from General Cardinal Dragon Marshal. Compared to that, the law enforcement team meant nothing.

If the general ordered them to die, they would do so without a second thought.

“You ignorant fools! I’ll see how far you can run from the royal city!”

Manuel pulled a signal flare from his belt and launched it into the sky.

    Boom!

A deafening explosion echoed through the night.

The red flare soared a hundred meters high before erupting into a brilliant crimson cloud that lingered in the sky.

This was the royal city’s martial law signal.

Every official force would immediately mobilize in response.

Civilians were expected to return home and lock their doors.

A martial law signal meant something catastrophic was unfolding.

Originally, Manuel had intended to handle the pursuit discreetly.

But with the Red Fire Army resisting so fiercely, the conflict had escalated to treason.

This was no longer a matter of a few deaths—

Tonight, blood would flood the streets. The Red Fire Army and the entire General’s Mansion would be annihilated.

“General! The situation has turned against us—we should retreat!”

Ziggy and Trevor’s faces darkened as they saw the flare.

The Red Fire Army was formidable, but no match for the king’s forces.

Even the palace’s elite guards alone would be difficult to handle, let alone the entire city’s mobilized forces.

If they were surrounded, escape would be impossible.

“Leave a squad behind to hold them off! The rest, follow me!”

General Cardinal Dragon Marshal made a swift decision, leading his troops in a rapid retreat.

Had he not been poisoned by the Ten Fragrance Softening Muscle Powder, he could have led the Red Fire Army into battle himself.

But in his weakened state, survival was the priority.

“You think you can escape that easily?!”

Manuel sneered, leaping onto a nearby rooftop.

He no longer concerned himself with the battle below—his focus was on the general.

He sprinted across the rooftops, closing in fast.

No matter what, he couldn’t let Cardinal Dragon Marshal get away.

Failing to capture him would mean facing the young prince’s wrath.

“General! Someone’s chasing us!” Ziggy warned.

Glancing back, he spotted a lone figure darting across the rooftops a hundred meters behind them.

“Send a team to eliminate him!” the general commanded, his voice strained.

His strength was fading, his breathing growing heavier.

Only by reaching his safe house and taking the long-preserved elixir could he counteract the poison’s effects.

“You two, take a squad and stop him!” Ziggy ordered.

Two deputy generals immediately turned back with dozens of soldiers, drawing their swords to intercept Manuel.

Ziggy and Trevor remained by the general’s side, knowing full well that in his current condition, any surprise attack could be fatal.

    “Kill!”

A chorus of battle cries rang out.

The two deputy generals and their men clashed with Manuel, but the difference in strength was too great.

Manuel cut them down in a single stroke.

The remaining soldiers broke formation, scattering in fear.

They had no chance of stopping him.

Manuel didn’t waste time finishing them off.

His only objective was to stay on the general’s trail, releasing signal flares at intervals.

Once the palace’s main force arrived—

    The trap would spring shut.
