Chapter 2472
Without hesitation, Manuel lunged forward, grabbing the dragon-binding net in an attempt to restrain General Cardinal Dragon Marshal once again.
“Hurry! We must trap him!”
Feeling the immense force resisting him, Manuel shouted for backup, pushing his body to the absolute limit. His veins bulged, his blood surged, and his chest heaved as he struggled to maintain his grip.
Although Manuel managed to hold him down momentarily, the elite law enforcement officers on the other side were overwhelmed. General Cardinal Dragon Marshal thrashed violently, sending more than ten officers swinging through the air, tangled in the net.
Some crashed into trees, others slammed into walls. Within moments, the net was overturned once again.
Several law enforcement officers attempted to assist, but as soon as they approached, they were knocked back by the sheer force of the struggling men caught in the net.
Against the raw strength of General Cardinal Dragon Marshal, numbers meant little. The ordinary guards didn’t stand a chance.
Across the battlefield, Manuel was the only one capable of physically matching him. But even he couldn’t fully control the dragon-binding net alone.
The moment General Cardinal Dragon Marshal lifted the net for the second time, he seized the opportunity and slipped through a gap, breaking free.
Without wasting a second, he turned and sprinted away. Now was not the time to fight—he could feel his strength fading fast. The poison was taking its toll.
“Don’t let him escape! Keep chasing!”
Manuel threw the net aside, drew his blade, and charged forward once more.
If General Cardinal Dragon Marshal managed to escape now, Manuel would have no right to lead the law enforcement team.
The pursuit was relentless.
General Cardinal Dragon Marshal ran for his life, with Manuel close behind. A hundred elite law enforcement officers followed in pursuit.
Crashing through walls and demolishing obstacles in his path, General Cardinal Dragon Marshal finally spotted an exit.
He was less than a hundred meters from the palace’s back gate. At his speed, it would take only two breaths to reach it.
“Hahaha… Fate is on my side!”
Hope surged through him as he pushed himself forward with everything he had left.
But just as he leaped over the outer courtyard wall, a storm of arrows rained down from the darkness.
The sky was filled with whistling projectiles, dense and unrelenting.
The palace was already under lockdown. Hundreds of soldiers stood outside, ready to execute anyone attempting to flee.
Under normal circumstances, a poisoned warrior facing such an overwhelming barrage would be riddled with arrows in an instant.
But General Cardinal Dragon Marshal was no ordinary warrior.
Born with superhuman strength and possessing the resilience of a half-step Grandmaster, he didn’t even need to summon his internal energy to defend himself. Instead, he simply raised his arms to shield his face and charged straight through the storm of arrows.
“Stop him!”
Realizing the arrows had little effect, the soldiers quickly shifted tactics. They surrounded him with shields and swords, forming a tight defensive wall.
Their goal wasn’t to kill him—but to delay him. Just long enough for the law enforcement team to arrive and finish the job.
“Out of my way!”
General Cardinal Dragon Marshal roared, his voice like thunder. The sheer force of it left the front-line soldiers dazed.
Before they could react, he plowed into them like an unstoppable force.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With each impact, armor shattered, shields splintered, and bodies were flung into the air like ragdolls. The unlucky few in his direct path had their bones crushed instantly, dying on the spot.
Even in his weakened state, he was an unstoppable force of destruction.
“Move! Get out of my way!”
He barreled through the ranks, sending soldiers flying in all directions. With one final surge, he broke free.
Just as he was about to escape, a new group of elite soldiers in black armor blocked the alley’s entrance.
Leading them was none other than Manuel.
“You’re finished! Surrender now, or I’ll show you no mercy!” Manuel growled, drawing his sword.
Behind him, hundreds of law enforcement elites stood ready—half with blades and shields, the other half armed with dragon-binding nets.
“Damn you pests! If I can’t run, I’ll fight to the death!”
General Cardinal Dragon Marshal’s fury ignited. With no escape left, he steeled himself for a final, desperate battle.
A man like him would never surrender. If he was going down, he was taking as many enemies with him as possible.
“Protect the General!”
Suddenly, reinforcements arrived from both ends of the alley.
Dressed in red armor, exuding a fierce presence—the elite warriors of the Red Fire Army had arrived.
They were his personal guards. His most loyal soldiers.
The moment General Cardinal Dragon Marshal saw them, his heart soared.
Just moments ago, he had been certain of death. Now, fate had given him a lifeline. His men had arrived at the perfect time.
“Ziggy! Trevor! Kill them all!”
His voice boomed with renewed confidence.
He had spent the entire night being hunted like an animal, forced to flee in humiliation.
Now, with his army backing him, it was time for revenge.
