Chapter 2398
“Now, let’s welcome the contestants to the stage!” Orion Foster announced, stepping confidently onto the platform.
The crowd erupted in applause and cheers. The long-awaited showdown was finally here.
Today’s battle wasn’t just about personal glory; it would reshape the power structure of the entire martial arts world. If Glenn emerged victorious, the Sword Union would solidify its place as the number one sect, forcing the Celestial Alliance and the Mystic Arts Order to step aside. But if Dustin claimed the championship, the impact would be even greater—a rogue warrior defeating the elite champions of renowned sects would send shockwaves across the community, sparking fierce competition among the groups.
“Dr. Rhys, you’ve got this! Take down Glenn and claim your fame!” cheered the two Marshall sisters, leaping to their feet as Dustin stepped up. They supported him for personal reasons, but also because a victory would avenge the Celestial Alliance’s previous embarrassment at Glenn’s hands.
Grace, watching anxiously, whispered to herself, “It all comes down to this.” Any other opponent would have made her confident, but facing Glenn was different. The two were tied at the top of the Legendary list, making it impossible to predict a winner. One small slip could decide everything.
“Hey, who should we cheer for?” Sullivan glanced between Rivka and Halle, feeling torn. Dustin was their friend, but Glenn was a fellow member of the Sword Union. Cheering for one meant slighting the other.
Halle’s brow furrowed as she replied, “How about we just watch and cheer for whoever wins?”
“Sounds like a plan!” Sullivan grinned, deciding not to overthink it. A victory for either would be impressive.
Rivka stayed quiet, her eyes locked on the stage. She believed Glenn had the edge, but Dustin’s history of defying expectations made her unsure. Beside her, Briggs shared the same conflicted feeling. Even with his insight into Dustin’s background, it was impossible to call who would come out on top. The only thing to do was wait and see.
“Masters Hadley, Marshall, Foster—how about a little wager on who will be champion?” Penelope’s voice rang out from the VIP section.
“Feeling lucky, Master Solace?” Alloy Marshall raised an eyebrow.
“Why not? Adds some fun to the match,” Penelope said with a sly smile. She knew Abigail, sitting nearby and casting knowing looks, had organized a betting pool to make a quick profit.
“If Master Solace suggests it, I’m in. What about you, Masters Hadley and Foster?” Alloy added.
Cyrus Hadley nodded coolly. “Count me in.”
“I’m game,” Katy Foster agreed with a smile.
With the agreement settled, Penelope waved Abigail over. The young woman approached, her grin gleaming.
“So, who wants to place a bet?” Abigail chirped. “The current odds are 1.6 for Dustin and 0.4 for Glenn. Bet any treasure you want, and if you win, I’ll exchange it for spiritual stones.”
Cyrus tossed a glistening green bead to her without hesitation. “I bet on Glenn.”
Penelope’s eyes narrowed. “A water-repellent bead? You’re betting big, Master Hadley.” The bead’s power to control water and enhance cultivation made it highly valuable.
Abigail nodded eagerly. “Of course, I accept. I’m prepared to cover any bet.”
Alloy Marshall chuckled. “Tempting odds, but I’ll still back Glenn.” He handed over a bottle of Vajra pills.
“Vajra Pills? Impressive!” Abigail’s eyes lit up. These rare pills could dramatically boost a warrior’s physical strength and were treasured by elite fighters.
Penelope turned to Katy. “Your bet, Master Foster?”
Katy smiled and set down three colorful talisman papers. “I’ll go against the grain and bet on Dustin. These are all I have, but they’re worth the wager.”
Abigail’s grin widened. “These talismans are invaluable, Master Foster. Thank you.”
“”Like Master Foster, I bet on Dustin to win.” Penelope added, dropping a black cloak into Abigail’s hands. The cloak, capable of concealing one’s aura, was perfect for stealth.
Abigail’s eyes sparkled. “Thank you for your trust! Let’s see who takes the championship!” She could already feel the profits piling up.
