Chapter 2395
As black feathers filled the sky, Dustin raised his hand, summoning a shield of white light that stood firm like a wall in front of him.
The black feathers struck the shield, causing ripples but unable to pierce through. Suddenly, the flames on the feathers spread across the shield, burning away its energy with visible speed.
In just two seconds, a gaping hole had been torn in Dustin’s shield. He felt a twinge of surprise.
Dustin’s True energy was far stronger than that of most grandmasters, potent both offensively and defensively. Yet it couldn’t withstand Abigail’s phoenix flame—a testament to the power of her bloodline.
Refusing to underestimate her, Dustin waved his hand again, summoning a gust of wind that swept away the black feathers and flames.
“Phoenix, come forth!”
Undeterred, Abigail made a seal with her hands, stepping forward. The black phoenix behind her flapped its wings and transformed into a streak of black light, hurtling toward Dustin with the force of a meteor.
Narrowing his eyes, Dustin sprang into the air, narrowly avoiding the phoenix’s impact. But it looped around, launching itself at him again with unyielding power.
This time, Dustin summoned his magic. He formed a hand seal, and a massive khaki-colored armor enveloped him, with the phantom of a mythical beast along its outer edge.
“Bang!”
The black phoenix crashed into the beast’s phantom, scattering flames. The tortoise-like shadow flickered from the impact, barely holding steady.
The phoenix persisted, opening its mouth to release a jet of scorching black flame. The inky fire swallowed Dustin and his armor whole.
The flame was corrosive, resisting even mystical energy. Under its relentless heat, the tortoise’s light grew dim, gradually devoured by the fire. Dustin could see his shield would last only a few seconds more.
This was the dominance of the black phoenix—its flame could not be stopped, whether physical or energy-based, as if it could burn anything in its path.
Finally feeling the pressure, Dustin decided it was time to get serious.
“Celestial Blade!” he called softly.
A black sword descended from the sky, transforming into a stream of light that landed precisely in Dustin’s hand. Surrounded by blazing flames, he raised the sword, swinging it with immense force.
“Swoosh!”
A wave of black sword energy sliced through the flames, striking the phoenix directly. Its flames extinguished instantly.
The phoenix exploded with a resounding “bang.”
Though the phoenix was a spirit body immune to physical attacks, it couldn’t withstand Dustin’s powerful sword energy, which tore it apart with a single blow.
With the phoenix destroyed, the flames in the sky vanished, and the arena cleared.
“Well, Mr. Rhys, it seems you’re serious now,” Abigail remarked with a small smile, looking even more energized.
“I had no choice. Without the sword, I’d be at a disadvantage today,” Dustin replied calmly.
Abigail’s phoenix bloodline had a unique quality that could overwhelm any warrior’s aura—even those stronger than her couldn’t resist it. If Dustin didn’t wield his sword, the black flames would prove far more dangerous.
“Then let’s make it a real fight!” Abigail exclaimed, reaching out to summon a massive silver saber from thin air. Over three meters long, with a wide, heavy blade, it contrasted sharply with her petite form.
Dustin watched with a hint of surprise; though many warriors wielded such heavy weapons, it was rare for a woman to choose one. Yet Abigail’s confidence showed she knew how to handle it.
“Mr. Rhys! Come at me!”
Without hesitation, Dustin surged forward, moving as fast as lightning.
Abigail stood her ground, gripping her saber with both hands. She swung it down hard, unleashing a spray of black flames as it cut through the air.
Dustin twisted his body mid-step, gliding through the gaps in the flames, then tapped his sword against the saber’s blade.
“Clang!”
Metal struck metal with a loud clash, sparks flying as Abigail’s swing halted.
Dustin seized the moment, launching another swift, precise strike. Moving too fast to be seen, his blade met the hilt of her saber with a sharp clang, forcing her to take several steps back.
Dustin pressed his advantage, delivering a quick, unyielding attack. Abigail had no time to react. Just as defeat seemed inevitable, a surge of golden light suddenly erupted from within her, transforming the battlefield once again.
