Chapter 2393
The entire arena fell silent. Everyone held their breath, eyes wide in shock.
In the main stands, Alloy Marshall stood up abruptly, his face tense with anxiety. He couldn’t bring himself to shout, worried that he might startle Glenn Hadley and cause Fenley Hudson’s death by accident. Fenley was the future hope of the Celestial Alliance, and Alloy had invested everything in him, ensuring he had every resource possible.
Losing Fenley here would be a massive blow to the entire alliance.
While Alloy was panicking, Cyrus and Penelope exchanged secret smiles. They were hoping Glenn would pierce Fenley with his sword, knowing it would cripple the Celestial Alliance for the next decade.
“Tap… Tap… Tap…”
Fenley stood frozen, staring at the Shenque Sword so close to him. His skin was covered in goosebumps, and beads of sweat trickled down his face, splashing on the ground.
He knew he had already lost.
If Glenn chose to, he could end his life in a heartbeat.
“Return,” Glenn commanded.
After a tense few seconds, Glenn decided to spare Fenley. With a light tap of his finger, the Shenque Sword turned mid-air and returned to its sheath. The other eight swords followed suit, gliding back to their places.
The once tense, hostile arena turned calm in an instant.
“You’re barely an opponent worthy of making me use the Shenque Sword. I hope you get stronger in the future,” Glenn remarked casually before turning away and leaving the ring.
Fenley’s performance had exceeded Glenn’s expectations. Fenley thought their duel would end in three strikes, but he held his ground until the seventh strike before losing. It made Glenn regard him slightly higher.
“Barely?” Fenley murmured as he slumped to the ground, a bitter smile on his lips. He had gone all out, risking almost everything.
He had hoped to beat Glenn and make a name for himself. But in the end?
He hadn’t even forced Glenn to unleash his full power.
From start to finish, Glenn never moved from his spot. He only waved his fingers a few times to claim victory effortlessly.
The gap between them was immeasurable.
Fenley had always prided himself on his talent and strength. But today, he realized how insignificant his gifts were compared to Glenn’s.
For the first time, he understood what it meant to say, there’s always someone stronger.
Dazed and defeated, Fenley left the ring with his head hanging low. Competing for third place no longer interested him. If he couldn’t claim first, any other rank was meaningless.
“Congratulations to Glenn Hadley for winning!” Referee Orion Foster announced.
The audience erupted in applause. Glenn’s supporters were ecstatic, while Fenley’s fans clapped politely, knowing that he had given it his all. But despite his effort, the difference in skill was undeniable.
Fenley’s loss was not undeserved.
“Master Marshall, what do you say now?” Cyrus asked, smiling at the group around him.
Before the match, Cyrus and Alloy had made a bet. Now that Cyrus had won, he couldn’t resist teasing.
“You’ve got a good disciple. I’ve lost.” Alloy sighed, taking a deep breath. “I’ll honor my promise to you. That’s all.”
Without another word, Alloy left in a hurry, unable to stay after his prized disciple’s defeat.
“Thank you!” Cyrus grinned, savoring his long-awaited victory.
After an hour’s break, the second semifinal match was set to begin.
Referee Orion took the stage once more, announcing loudly, “Next, the second match will begin. Let’s welcome Contestant No. 2, Dustin Rhys, and Contestant No. 3, Abigail Robinson!”
The arena burst into cheers again.
Abigail was both beautiful and strong. As the only female contender in the top four, she was immensely popular, despite the controversy surrounding her title as the Holy Maiden of the Mystic Arts Order. Her charm still drew many fans, who screamed and cheered as she appeared.
Dustin also had his supporters. He had been the unexpected underdog of the competition, defeating several foreign masters before triumphing over the fan-favorite Easton Foster in a stunning display of skill. His swordsmanship and mastery had left a deep impression on the audience.
The crowd was eager to see the clash between Dustin and Abigail.
As the two fighters approached the ring, Abigail flashed a playful grin. “Mr. Rhys, who would’ve thought we’d face each other here? It seems today’s battle is inevitable.”
She was well aware of Dustin’s strength and knew defeating him wouldn’t be easy. But she wasn’t about to give up. She had made it to the ring and intended to fight with all her might.
“Give it your best and show me how much you’ve improved this past year,” Dustin replied with a smile.
“Alright! I won’t hold back!” Abigail’s tone shifted as she sprang into action, her figure blurring into motion as she launched the first strike.
