Chapter 2382
“I lost.” Miguel bowed his head, reluctantly speaking the words.
Though he felt unwilling, he had to accept the reality—there was a vast gap between him and Glenn. Continuing to fight would not only be futile but also likely cost him his life.
“You did well just to block my sword and survive.”
Glenn’s voice was cold as he spoke. Without another word, he turned and walked off the stage. To him, Miguel’s skills were unremarkable and did not hold his interest.
“Congratulations to contestant No. 2, Glenn, for the win!”
Referee Orion Foster swiftly declared the result.
The audience erupted in thunderous applause. Although the battle was brief, the clash between the two fighters had been spectacular. Glenn’s impressive display of strength left a deep mark on everyone’s minds. He rarely drew his sword, but when he did, the impact was both overwhelming and unforgettable.
“What a pity,” Alloy Marshall said, shaking his head in regret as he watched from the main audience seats.
He would have preferred if Glenn had ended Miguel’s life with that sword strike. The death of such a talent from the Sword Union might have stirred up internal conflicts—a sight that many would have eagerly anticipated.
“Master Marshall, it seems like you’re disappointed that my disciple survived,” Cyrus Hadley, seated beside him, remarked with a cold glare.
“Master Hadley, you misunderstand me. I was simply reminded of something sad,” Alloy replied with a smile.
“Is that so?” Cyrus responded with a hint of sarcasm. “You might find yourself even more saddened soon.”
“Oh? And why is that?” Alloy raised an eyebrow.
“Because you’re about to experience the pain of losing your disciple,” Cyrus said, his eyes flashing with cold determination.
“Heh… It’s far from certain who will win or lose, who will live or die, Master Hadley. Don’t celebrate too soon,” Alloy retorted with a sneer.
“Let’s see how this plays out,” Cyrus replied confidently.
He had unwavering faith in his disciple. If they faced Glenn, they would at least cripple him, if not take his life. Only then could they strike a severe blow to the morale of the Celestial Alliance.
As the second match concluded, the event went into a brief intermission. The ring was too damaged to host a performance this time. Deep pits and cracks ran across its surface, making it look almost entirely shattered.
Although the ring was made of special materials that allowed for rapid repairs, it still required time. Nearly an hour passed before it was restored to its original state, looking as good as new.
Sacred Wyrm Summit, hosting its first martial arts tournament, had clearly prepared for every scenario.
“Thank you for your patience,” Orion Foster said as he returned to the stage, bowing slightly to the audience. “Up next is the third match. I know you’ve all been eagerly waiting for it. Let’s welcome contestant No. 3, Abigail, and contestant No. 6, Ezekiel!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd broke into enthusiastic applause.
Abigail, the saint of the Mystic Arts Order and ranked second on the Legendary list, was already a favorite. She had showcased her formidable skills in her earlier battle against Black Kong. As the only female contestant to make it into the top eight, Abigail’s popularity soared, even surpassing that of Yan Buqi.
With her impressive skills, fair complexion, and captivating beauty, Abigail was admired by many. Her appeal wasn’t limited to men; even many women in the audience had become her ardent fans.
Ezekiel of the Qumozagnie Sect was no stranger to the crowd, but compared to Abigail, his strength and popularity were clearly lacking.
Without much delay, Abigail and Ezekiel took to the stage. They exchanged brief greetings before launching into combat.
Abigail’s expertise in voodoo combined with her sheer power made her a formidable opponent. Ezekiel, skilled in magic and swordsmanship, found his abilities constrained. The Qumozagnie Sect’s magic might counter witchcraft in theory, but only if the two fighters were evenly matched in strength.
However, Abigail’s superiority over Ezekiel was undeniable. The gap between their skill levels was vast, rendering Ezekiel’s efforts futile.
Despite his best attempts, Ezekiel failed to land a single blow on Abigail. When she counterattacked, it took her only three moves to decisively defeat him.
The outcome came as no surprise. It’s almost impossible for an ordinary master to challenge a top-tier contender like Abigail, especially someone ranked among the top three on the Legendary list.
The fourth and final match of the quarterfinals was next. No announcements were necessary; everyone knew who the competitors were.
“For the fourth game, please welcome contestant No. 4, Easton, to face contestant No. 5, Dustin!”
