Chapter 2379
On the stage, Miguel stood holding his sword, smiling calmly as he looked at Glenn Hadley. “Mr. Hadley, I didn’t expect we’d meet so soon. It seems like a clash between us is unavoidable today.”
Glenn Hadley was a genius everyone admired, but Miguel was skilled too. He kept a low profile and avoided the spotlight, focusing on his training in silence.
This time, Glenn joined the martial arts competition not to gain fame but to test his own strength. He believed that to grow, one must face other skilled fighters.
“You’re not strong enough to defeat me. Just surrender,” Glenn said coldly. He didn’t want to hurt Miguel since they were from the same sect.
“How can we know who’s stronger if we don’t fight?” Miguel replied with a smile. “Mr. Hadley, I joined the Sword Sect a few years before you. While you have great potential, I’m no beginner either. Beating me won’t be so simple.”
“Your skills aren’t at my level. Don’t waste your time,” Glenn said flatly. He could see that while Miguel was skilled enough to lead his own sect, he wasn’t quite a match for Glenn.
“Mr. Hadley, skill level doesn’t always decide the winner. In the Sword Union, it’s not uncommon for someone to defeat an opponent who is technically stronger,” Miguel said calmly, staying humble and composed.
“Are you comparing me to amateurs?” Glenn asked, his eyes narrowing, his tone turning cold.
“Not at all,” Miguel replied, shaking his head. “Mr. Hadley, you’re at the top of the Legendary List. I respect your talent, but remember, there’s always someone better out there. Never underestimate your opponent.”
“My sword will draw blood once it’s unsheathed. If we fight, I won’t hold back. Think carefully,” Glenn warned, giving Miguel one last chance to reconsider.
Miguel didn’t hesitate. “I’m ready for this. Let’s see who’s truly the better swordsman.” He slowly drew his gleaming silver sword, which shone brightly under the sun.
“Fine, let’s get started,” Glenn said, wasting no time as he made his move. He pointed his sword, sending a sharp beam of light straight at Miguel’s chest, as fast as lightning.
“Sword finger?” Miguel muttered, reacting instantly by swinging his sword down.
With a loud crash, Miguel’s sword split the light beam in two, scattering it into pieces. Glenn’s attack was quick, but Miguel’s response was even quicker.
Neither fighter had gained the upper hand yet.
Glenn’s face hardened. He raised his hand and flicked his fingers three times.
Three powerful sword beams shot through the air toward Miguel, aiming for his head and body.
Miguel stayed calm, skillfully deflecting each attack with his sword, turning them into silver flashes that shattered the beams.
“Show me your real skills, Mr. Hadley. This level of attack won’t…” Miguel started to say, but Glenn interrupted by raising his hand and swinging it down.
A massive golden sword appeared in the sky, about ten meters long and three meters wide, as intimidating as a mountain. As it descended, the entire arena shook, and a powerful force filled the air.
The audience felt the pressure, like a weight on their chests, making it hard to breathe.
“What incredible power! What sharp energy!” they whispered, stunned by Glenn’s display of strength.
On the stage, Miguel’s confident smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression. The giant sword above him moved slowly but had him locked in place. Dodging was pointless; he had to face it head-on.
“A hundred birds pay homage to the phoenix!” Miguel shouted as he unleashed his ultimate move. He began to spin, creating fierce winds around him.
In the next moment, a translucent phoenix appeared in the air, ready to meet the giant sword’s strike.
