An Understated Dominance Chapter 2366 – “Mr. Rhys, I didn’t expect you to be so skilled that you could beat the masters of our Pantheon. It’s really surprising.”
Tyson looked at Dustin thoughtfully before smiling. “Honestly, you’re not to blame for what happened. If anyone’s at fault, it’s those two for not being good enough. As they say, ‘the winner takes all.’ It’s normal that they lost because they weren’t strong enough. I’m not here tonight to blame you.”
“That’s a relief,” Dustin sighed, finally smiling. “Mr. Houle, if you’re not here to cause trouble, what can I do for you?”
“To be frank, Mr. Rhys, your skills have caught the attention of our Lord God King. He wants you to officially join the Pantheon and help us achieve our great mission.” Tyson smiled as he made the offer.
“Join the Pantheon?” Dustin was taken aback. “Mr. Houle, I’m just a man from the mountains. How could I be worthy of joining such a powerful group?”
“You’re being too modest, Mr. Rhys.” Tyson sipped his tea and smiled. “A talent like you is exactly what we need in the Pantheon. I assure you, if you join, you’ll be given special attention and endless resources.”
The Pantheon had resources and wealth far beyond other organizations, which gave Tyson confidence in his offer.
“Mr. Houle, I appreciate the offer, but I’m used to my freedom and don’t like being tied down. I think I’ll pass,” Dustin politely declined.
“Mr. Rhys, don’t be so quick to refuse.” Tyson put down his cup and said seriously, “I promise, if you join, I won’t restrict your freedom. You’ll be able to do as you please, without needing to report to anyone. Plus, I’ll give you the status and resources of a Divine Guard.”
“Divine Guard? How powerful is that?” Dustin asked, intrigued.
“The Divine Guard is a special rank. In terms you might understand, it’s like a sect elder—just one level below the God King. In the Pantheon, it’s a position of great respect,” Tyson explained.
“That sounds pretty good,” Dustin nodded, smiling. “So, you’re saying I won’t have to do much, and I’ll still get plenty of rewards and resources?”
“Well, you could look at it that way, but…” Tyson added, “while the Divine Guard has freedom and power, there will be times when you’ll need to contribute to the Pantheon’s missions. We can’t have idle members, after all.”
“Mr. Houle, what exactly do you need me to do? Why not get straight to the point?” Dustin asked calmly, knowing Tyson was about to reveal his true intentions.
“Mr. Rhys, you’re aware that after the martial arts competition, the Pantheon has an upcoming mission. The details aren’t finalized yet, but since I’ve seen your skills, I’d like you to lead the team. If you succeed, not only will you rise to a Divine Guard, but you might even be made a Lord God, equal to me!”
“I didn’t realize how important this mission is to the Pantheon. What exactly would I need to do?” Dustin asked, testing the waters.
“Mr. Rhys, to know the details, you’ll need to do this first.” Tyson pulled a small bottle from his pocket and placed it on the table.
“What’s this?” Dustin asked, confused.
“Poison,” Tyson said calmly. Seeing Dustin’s frown, he quickly added, “It’s not that we don’t trust you, but the Pantheon has its rules. To prevent leaks or mission failure, everyone takes this—myself included.”
“That’s harsh,” Dustin frowned.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Rhys. Once the mission is done, the Lord God will give you the antidote,” Tyson reassured him with a smile.
“What happens if I can’t complete the mission?” Dustin asked.
The simple question caught Tyson off guard, but he quickly recovered and smiled. “Mr. Rhys, there’s no need to worry. The Pantheon has planned everything carefully. As long as we follow the plan, nothing will go wrong.”
“Mr. Houle, while your offer is tempting, I value my safety more than anything. I can’t let my life be controlled by others, so I’ll have to decline,” Dustin finally said after some thought.
Dustin wasn’t afraid of the poison but wanted to play it safe and gain the Pantheon’s trust. If he seemed too eager, it might raise suspicions.
Sure enough, Tyson wasn’t upset by Dustin’s refusal. In fact, he laughed even more. If Dustin had accepted immediately, he would’ve been suspicious. Now, Tyson trusted him even more.
