Married at First Chapter 4575 – “Yeah, no way. Absolutely impossible!”
The two receptionists still refused to believe the gossip article.
Even the report itself wasn’t definitive—it was just speculation and overanalysis from the media, not based on confirmed facts.
Not only did the receptionists see the article, but everyone else did, too.
Still, it was mostly people from Yantail and the Lafond Group who clicked on it. Regular folks who weren’t interested in entertainment gossip either skimmed past it or deleted the notification.
But even so, the article was enough to stir up a storm in both companies. Anyone who knew River and Romina personally started calling them after seeing it.
River had just returned to his office and hadn’t even sat down when Romina called.
He answered her call while pulling out his chair and taking a seat.
With a teasing tone, he said, “Good morning, Romina. You calling me this early—are you just too excited to treat me to lunch? Or are you already setting me up for a blind date?”
Romina didn’t return his banter. “River, did you not see the gossip article?”
Feigning confusion, River replied, “What article? I usually turn off push notifications. If I want to read news, I’ll look for it myself. I don’t need apps shoving it at me.”
“Yesterday we ran into each other and went shopping for a while—when I brought your niece to the toy store. Didn’t your temp bodyguard tell you someone was taking photos? You said you handled it and made them delete the pictures. So how are photos still being posted online? And now people think we’re secretly married and those two kids are ours?”
Romina had turned off push notifications too. It was her best friend who saw the article and called her, asking when she got married—and why she hadn’t said a word about it.
Her friend was convinced she’d been secretly married for years and even had two kids, the oldest already six or seven.
Romina was bombarded with accusations and scolded for keeping such a big secret. She felt completely wronged.
She tried to explain she wasn’t married, didn’t have kids, and wasn’t hiding anything—but her friend didn’t believe her. The photos were there, after all. And they looked too convincing—River and Romina walking together, smiling, laughing, with River looking at her with such gentle, affectionate eyes.
Even Romina was a little shaken.
After hanging up, she searched for the article herself. It was full of speculation, but it tied her and River together convincingly.
Furious, she nearly smashed her phone and immediately called River.
She knew someone had taken photos yesterday—but River said he had handled it. He told her he had the reporter delete all the pictures.
So what happened?
River calmly explained, “I asked him to delete them. Did I do it myself? No—I made him delete them from his phone. Maybe he restored them afterward?”
He didn’t mention that he had only deleted the photos that clearly showed the children’s faces. He left the rest.
The reporter must’ve realized that and assumed River just wanted to protect the kids’ identities—not hide the outing itself. That assumption led to the published photos and the speculation-filled article.
Married at First Chapter 4576 – River York was a standout talent in Eaglioncile and the dream man of countless women.
Romina was the vice president of the Lafond Group and the eldest daughter of the Lafond family.
The two were known as business rivals, practically sworn enemies. So if it came out they were secretly married—it would be explosive news. Impossible to ignore.
Romina snapped, “When you delete something from a phone, you have to clear it again from the deleted folder to erase it completely. Did you only delete it once?”
River admitted, “I deleted it from his photo album. I didn’t think that far ahead—I assumed that was enough.”
Romina was speechless. “…No wonder.”
River said, “I’ll check the article now and ask them to take it down.”
Romina scoffed, “What’s the point? People have already seen it. Deleting it won’t undo anything.”
“Then let’s issue a joint statement,” River suggested, more cautious now. “We could say the people in the photo weren’t us—just lookalikes. Or we can admit it was a coincidence and clarify that the kids are my niece and nephew. Which they are, technically.”
Romina didn’t sound happy. “A coincidence? Come on. What’s our relationship? If we weren’t close, why would we look so comfortable together? People aren’t going to buy that.”
River asked, “So what do you want to do? I’m honestly not too worried. It’s not like this will hurt me. As long as we know the truth—that we’re not married and those kids aren’t ours—it’s fine.”
Romina said flatly, “You go handle it however you want. I don’t care.”
“You clearly care more than you’re letting on,” River noted. “You’re the one angry enough to call first thing in the morning.”
Romina didn’t respond for a moment, then finally said, “Fine. Say it was just a chance meeting. That is what happened. And mention that the little girl wanted me to hold her—that’s why I did.”
She added, “But when you make the statement, don’t mention their names. Not even their nicknames. Just call them your niece and nephew.”
This was a public statement to the entire internet.
Protecting the identities of the kids was the top priority.
If the public found out those two were the York family’s heirs, Zachary would kill River.
The media in Wiltspoon had always been curious about Belle and desperate to know what she looked like.
They knew Serenity had given birth to a daughter—the first girl born into the York family in generations—and when Serenity was discharged, Zachary let the press take pictures. But Belle was in his arms, well-hidden. No one got a clear shot.
Since then, the media had tried, but after receiving serious warnings, they backed off.
It would be sheer luck if anyone managed to sneak a look at the York siblings—let alone capture it in a photo.
And River didn’t want to be the one responsible if that ever happened.
