Married At First Sight Chapter 4231
Chapter 4231
Elisa said, “Even though cousins can be as close as real siblings, I still think we should have another child. We won’t be living in your house forever, and in the future, our children might not have much time to bond with their cousins.
I grew up with two older brothers. The three of us have always been close, and they love me dearly. I can talk to them about anything. Even after my brother got married, my sister-in-law still treats me with so much love. Having siblings makes life more vibrant. No matter what happens, we can talk things through instead of facing challenges alone. It’s a wonderful feeling. I don’t want our child to grow up feeling lonely.”
She continued, “Most importantly, I love children. If you could carry a baby, I wouldn’t have to go through the exhaustion of pregnancy! Ideally, I’d like to have three kids. But since men can’t get pregnant, if I have to do it myself, two is my limit. A boy and a girl would be perfect, but if that doesn’t work out, two girls would be great, and two boys would be just fine too. Our child is a product of our love. Unlike the York family, where everyone hopes for a daughter, I’m happy with either.”
Remy smiled. “Of course. I don’t believe in favoring boys over girls. Sons or daughters, they’re all our flesh and blood. If only I could carry a child for you, I’d do it in a heartbeat so you wouldn’t have to endure the hardships of pregnancy and childbirth.”
Elisa turned her head to look at him, her eyes filled with affection. “Remy, you’re so handsome. Your side profile is especially charming.”
Remy grinned. “And you’re absolutely beautiful—whether it’s your face from the front, the side, or even from behind. In my eyes, you’re the most beautiful woman in the world.”
Elisa smiled.
If he weren’t driving, she would have pulled him in for a thousand kisses right then and there.
When they got back to Remy’s house, he immediately went into the kitchen to prepare dinner, while Elisa grabbed some snacks and relaxed in front of the TV.
Remy’s family didn’t hire too many servants—just two couples. One pair handled the garden and yard work, while the other managed the household cleaning. Since he rarely ate at home, he usually dined at the Wiltspoon Hotel or joined the Stones for a meal next door.
Whenever he was home, the Stone family’s butler would often call him over for dinner. On the rare occasions Elisa wanted to spend time alone with him, he would cook, and she would simply enjoy the meal.
Even when she offered to help, he never let her.
“I want to cherish you, spoil you, and protect you for the rest of my life,” he always said. “As long as I’m around, you’ll never have to lift a finger for housework. Your hands are too delicate for chores. They should never become rough.”
Sometimes, Audrey would joke that her future son-in-law spoiled Elisa too much.
She often called Remy’s parents, praising them for raising such an exceptional son.
Remy’s mother, a warm and cheerful woman, always responded humbly. “My parents-in-law played a big role in raising our sons, so they deserve the credit. But the men in our Johnson family have always been known for doting on their wives. It runs in our blood.”
The Johnsons were among the wealthiest families, right alongside the Yorks.
Audrey never disapproved of Remy as a person. In fact, she admired him and even compared him to her own eldest son. However, she had only one daughter, and the thought of Elisa marrying far away was too painful. That was why she had initially opposed their relationship.
Now, though, Audrey was grateful she had relented. Her daughter’s happiness mattered most.
She had also turned down Remy’s offer to move in with the Stones. Instead, she let Elisa marry into the Johnson family, where she would be known as the fifth young lady.
Of course, with Remy managing FC & Co.’s Wiltspoon business, he lived close by. The families were just a wall apart—so close that Audrey could simply call over it for them to come home for dinner.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4232
Chapter 4232
“Remy, Remy!”
A voice called from outside. It sounded like Audrey.
Remy stepped out of the kitchen, still wearing his apron.
“You’re busy—I’ll go see what she wants,” Elisa said, setting down the remote control. “She probably saw the lights on and figured you were home, so she’s calling you over for dinner.”
By now, her family had probably already started eating.
Elisa grabbed a bag of snacks and walked outside while munching on them. “Mom?”
Audrey called out, “Elisa? You’re home too? Why didn’t you come over for dinner? We’re eating right now. Hurry up and tell Remy to come over—your grandpa Jimenez was just saying he hasn’t seen him in days!”
Remy had been busy entertaining clients lately, leaving little time to visit his in-laws for dinner.
Elisa smiled. “Mom, I want to eat Remy’s cooking tonight, so we’re staying in. You guys go ahead without us.”
“Oh, come on, sweetheart! It’s late, and you’re still making him cook? He’s been working all day. He should be coming home to a hot meal, not having to make one himself!”
Audrey’s voice carried a motherly scolding tone, full of concern for her son-in-law.
Elisa giggled, sticking out her tongue playfully, though her mother couldn’t see her expression.
“Mom, I have good news for you.”
“Oh? Jasmine had her baby, right? Both mother and child are safe—I already heard the news.”
The Sox family might not be wealthy, but Jasmine had married into the influential Bucham family. Josh Bucham and Julian Bucham were cousins, and Josh had been working at York Corporation for years. In Wiltspoon’s business world, he was well known.
Naturally, news of his wife giving birth spread quickly within the city’s elite circles.
The Buchams had no rivals among Wiltspoon’s upper class, only friends. When word got out about the baby’s arrival, countless well-wishers called with congratulations, sending over nutritional supplements in bulk.
Of course, Audrey knew all about it.
She had already prepared an elaborate gift and planned to visit Jasmine in the hospital first thing tomorrow morning.
Elisa and Jasmine were close friends, and with Josh being connected to Zachary—who was married to Audrey’s niece—the Buchams and the Stones had a strong bond.
Audrey had once believed Julian was serious about pursuing Elisa, which almost led his father to propose marriage. But those days were long past.
Elisa beamed. “Mom, guess what? Remy and I just got back from the hospital. We saw Jasmine, and she’s doing great. The baby is absolutely adorable!”
Married At First Sight Chapter 4233
Chapter 4233
Audrey heard her precious grandson crying and immediately stopped paying attention to her daughter. She said loudly, “You two enjoy your time together. My grandson is crying, so I’m heading back inside. You and Remy should start planning for a baby too—get pregnant first, then have the wedding. That way, it’ll be double the joy.”
Seeing other people’s daughters become mothers made Audrey eager to become a grandmother herself.
And once she had her first grandchild, she only wanted more. That’s just how it is for parents with both sons and daughters.
Elisa: “…”
She heard her mother’s hurried footsteps rushing inside, calling out even before stepping in the door, “Baby, don’t cry! Grandma’s back!”
Elisa muttered to herself, “Now that she has a grandson, I, her beloved daughter, have been pushed aside. The moment a grandson arrives, the daughter barely exists.”
She and Remy definitely planned on having a baby, but there was no rush. Maybe in a couple of years.
Their wedding was scheduled for the fall.
Serenity would have her baby in the first half of the year, and then, in the second half, Elisa would have her wedding. That way, both Serenity and Jasmine could attend.
When they got married, she had been there for both of them, even serving as a bridesmaid. It only made sense that they be there for her too. She’d wait until they could make it.
Elisa turned around and walked back into the yard.
The late-blooming camellias had finally blossomed, filling the garden with beautiful colors. There were so many different varieties, all blooming under the soft glow of the yard lights.
Feeling content, Elisa took out her phone and snapped a few pictures of the gorgeous flowers.
She looked around the quiet yard again.
Remy had designed the landscape to match her tastes, carefully considering her preferences. The space was large, peaceful, and beautifully arranged.
Just imagining herself sitting outside, feeling the evening breeze while gazing at the moon, made her feel warm and cozy.
Back inside, she walked into the kitchen.
Remy was cooking. Wearing an apron, he handled the spatula with practiced ease, his movements as skilled as a professional chef’s.
Despite being the young master of the richest family in Annenburg, he still cooked for her.
Elisa walked up behind him.
“Are you hungry? Dinner’s almost ready. If you can’t wait, have a little something first.”
Noticing the snacks still in her hand, Remy simply smiled and said nothing.
Elisa always made sure to take care of herself—she’d never let herself go hungry.
“My mom wanted us to go over and eat. She said they were having dinner.”
Elisa nibbled on her snack as she spoke. “I told her you were cooking, and I really wanted to eat your food tonight. She scolded me, saying you work so hard every day, and when you finally get home, you still have to cook for me. She felt bad for you.”
Remy chuckled. “I eat at your house 340 days out of the year. The times I actually cook are rare. You enjoy my cooking, so I take it as an opportunity to practice. Honestly, I love doing it—I don’t even feel tired.”
Elisa leaned over and kissed him.
He momentarily paused but then turned slightly, letting her kiss him on the cheek.
Looking into the pot, Elisa inhaled deeply, savoring the aroma. “I don’t know what it is, but after tasting your cooking, I can’t get enough. I love it more and more.”
“As long as you love it, I’ll cook for you anytime.”
“Just like Grandma York always said—knowing how to cook isn’t just a bonus when looking for a wife. It’s also a great way to take care of yourself.”
His grandmother had never actually said that.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4234
Chapter 4234
Grandma had a different perspective—she believed that nothing lasts forever. The Johnson family was thriving now, but the future was unpredictable. Who knew if, one day, they might fall on hard times? It was better to be prepared.
“Learn as many skills as you can,” she always said. “If you ever face hardship, at least you’ll have the ability to take care of yourself.”
That was why their elders encouraged them to be well-rounded. They didn’t have to master everything, but they had to at least be competent in many areas.
Truthfully, Remy’s cooking skills hadn’t been great in the beginning.
But once he started liking Elisa, he found out that the man she once admired—Zachary York—knew how to cook.
Not wanting to be outshined, Remy secretly started practicing his cooking.
By the time he and Elisa officially got together, his cooking skills had improved tremendously. He could prepare meals and even make snacks, ensuring that the woman he loved always enjoyed her food.
Remy knew Elisa had let go of her feelings for Zachary once she realized he was married to Serenity. She had declared with pride, “I’m a Stone. I have money, looks, and an education. Why would I compete for a man?”
Letting go after years of infatuation had been painful, but she did it decisively. Her independence and strong spirit were what had drawn Remy to her in the first place.
Once he fell in love with her, he worked hard to prove himself—showing her that he was just as good as, if not better than, Zachary. He didn’t want outsiders to look down on her.
After all, Elisa had once admired the York family’s eldest son—the legendary businessman, a prince in the corporate world.
If the man she ended up with wasn’t on Zachary’s level, people who disliked her would surely mock her. She might not care, but Remy did. He wouldn’t allow anyone to laugh at the woman he loved.
The Johnson family was just as powerful as the Yorks, both worth billions.
The fifth young master of the Johnson family was a perfect match for a daughter of the Stone family.
Once news of their relationship spread through Wiltspoon’s high society, people were surprised. They never expected someone as fiery as Elisa to be truly cherished by the Johnson family’s fifth young master.
Some even speculated that Elisa, with her strong personality, would remain single forever after giving up on Zachary…
But fate had other plans. When fortune smiled on her, it did so generously. Many envied her happiness, though they wouldn’t admit it.
Elisa, however, never cared about others’ opinions. She lived life on her own terms. Her only concern was her happiness.
“No wonder Grandma and Grandma York are such good friends. They think alike,” Elisa mused. “Grandma York still stays at your house, and every time she sees your niece, she can’t stop doting on her.”
She motioned for Remy to continue cooking, watching with a heart full of joy.
Remy chuckled. “The York family hasn’t had a daughter for generations, so Grandma York is obsessed with little girls. And my niece? She’s absolutely adorable—smart, sweet, and lovable.”
Even when he went home, he couldn’t resist holding her.
Scarcity makes things more precious.
Though the Johnson family did have daughters, they were still rare. Naturally, Avah was cherished by everyone.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4235
Chapter 4235
The daughter’s last name was Johnson—just like the rest of the family. It was clear their elders cherished and valued her deeply.
But Remy had a feeling his niece might surpass Enzo one day. Maybe Avah would be the one to lead the family in the future.
“I miss Avah. I don’t know why, but I just do. Lately, I find myself drawn to little kids. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and feeling more maternal.”
“You’re not old at all. If you’re old, what does that make me? I’m older than you, after all,” Remy said, clearly not liking Elisa’s comment about aging. If she was old, that would make him even older—and he definitely didn’t feel that way.
He hadn’t even married her yet. In his mind, he was still a young man.
“I’m older than Seren, though. Her baby is due in two months. By the way, Remy, my mom wasn’t just fussing about me making you cook for me. She also started talking about us preparing for a baby. She said when we get married in the fall, it would be the perfect time for ‘double happiness.’”
Remy turned to look at her, his gaze heating up.
A moment later, he snapped out of it, grabbed a clean plate, and carefully plated the dish he had just finished cooking. His arrangement was meticulous—he had the touch of a chef.
“We should start preparing for a baby,” he said thoughtfully. “But first, we need to make sure we’re in the best shape possible. A healthy body means a healthy child. I’ve been cutting back on social drinking and avoiding late nights. I’m being extra careful with my diet too.”
Elisa nodded. “You should keep that up—even after we start a family. No drinking at social events, no staying up late. Take care of yourself, eat properly, stay happy. After the wedding and our honeymoon, then we’ll think about having a baby.”
Preparing for a baby didn’t mean rushing into it. It was about taking the time to be ready—physically and emotionally. A year or two of preparation would be ideal.
Elisa smiled, knowing that Remy wouldn’t push her or use this as an excuse to make other demands. He was a true gentleman.
Of course, if she took the initiative, he wouldn’t hold back either. Beneath that gentlemanly exterior, there was a passionate side to him too.
“I have to stay up late these days,” she admitted. “But I’m sticking to my no-drinking rule at events. Once Seren gives birth and Jasmine comes back to the company, things will get easier. Right now, both my business partners are new moms.”
Jasmine was still recovering from childbirth. Even after her postpartum period, she would need at least three to six months before returning to work.
As for Seren, Elisa wanted her to take a full year of maternity leave. A woman needed time to heal after giving birth—her mother had always told her that. If a woman didn’t take care of herself properly post-pregnancy, it could lead to lifelong health issues.
Remy understood. “I appreciate all the effort you’re putting in. But try not to push yourself too hard. If you ever need anything, just ask. We’re family—there’s no need for formalities.”
Elisa smiled. “I know. And when I do need help, trust me, I won’t hesitate to ask. How many dishes are you making?”
She glanced at the ingredients on the counter, realizing he was preparing quite a spread.
“It’s just the two of us. We shouldn’t overdo it. Four dishes and a soup should be enough. I’m keeping the portions small.”
“And they’re all my favorites.” Elisa grinned.
She leaned in and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. “Remy, I love you.”
Being loved and cherished by him—it was the best feeling in the world.
Remy gazed at her with warmth. “I love you more.”
Married At First Sight Chapter 4236
Chapter 4236
“I’m not picky when it comes to food. Whatever you like, I like too,” Remy said, his devotion to her unmistakable.
Elisa felt a deep sense of contentment. “I’m going to check on my nephew. I just heard him crying. Call me when dinner’s ready—just yell over the wall.”
Remy smiled. “Sure. Bring the baby over if he wants to play for a bit.”
Ever since he had started going on little outings, the baby had developed a love for the outdoors.
If he cried despite being well-fed and rested, there was no need to ask why—he just wanted to go outside.
As Elisa walked out, she called back, “Let’s leave him with Grandpa Jimenez for now. Otherwise, he’ll cry and demand to go out, and that’ll ruin our peaceful dinner. Grandpa Jimenez adores him anyway. He keeps saying he wants to live a few more years just to see more young ones grow up.”
Grandpa Jimenez’s zest for life was fueled by family.
He had never married or had children of his own. In his younger years, he hadn’t given much thought to old age.
His loyalty had always belonged to the head of the family.
Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that, in his twilight years, Miss Audrey would take him in and care for him as if he were her own. Now, he was surrounded by the warmth of a family he had never expected to have.
He often thought that if the head of the family were still alive, he would be overjoyed to see so many children and grandchildren.
But some wounds never healed.
Even in death, he could not forgive Clarissa. Not even if she had turned to dust.
She had accused him of never considering her feelings, but how could she? She had only been looking for an excuse to justify her cruelty.
His loyalty had always been to the head of the family. That was his world, his duty. If not for that, he wouldn’t have cared about Clarissa at all.
He had raised the third lady since she was a child. Unlike Clarissa, she had never harbored inappropriate thoughts about him.
The mere memory of Clarissa’s obsession and resentment made him sick. She had been more than twenty years younger than him!
But there was no point dwelling on her now. She had sought forgiveness from the head of the family, though whether it had been granted was another matter entirely.
For Grandpa Jimenez, the only thing left to do was to live a little longer—to see Miss Audrey’s and Miss Harlow’s children grow. Once they had their own families, he could finally rest and reunite with the head of the family.
Remy smiled. He knew Grandpa Jimenez adored Clive’s son. In truth, his deep affection for the younger generation stemmed from his unspoken love for their mother.
Elisa stepped out, crossed the yard, and soon entered her family’s villa.
The baby had already been soothed.
Some babies were difficult to calm when they cried, but this little one was easy. He loved to cry, but he was just as easy to comfort.
Audrey had taken him in her arms. The moment she did, he stopped crying and beamed at her, melting her heart. She showered his chubby little cheeks with kisses.
When Elisa walked in, the Stone family had already finished dinner.
They were all gathered in the living room, the TV on low in the background. No one was really watching—they were all focused on the baby.
He couldn’t speak yet, but he babbled happily, eager to interact.
“Mom, I’m back,” Elisa said, making her way toward her mother.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4237
Chapter 4237
When Alice saw Elisa return, she quickly asked, “Elisa, have you eaten? If not, I can make you something.”
Audrey gently pulled Alice back and said, “Don’t worry about her. She has Remy cooking up delicious meals for her in the kitchen. With him around, there’s no way she’ll go hungry.”
Hearing this, Alice smiled and took a seat.
Elisa protested, “Mom, how can you say that? Remy cooks for me because he wants to, not because I make him. You always act like I’m forcing him. Honestly, you’re starting to take his side more and more. You feel bad for him but not for me! If it weren’t for me, your daughter, you wouldn’t have such a great son-in-law. So, you still have to love me the most, just like before.”
Audrey chuckled. “If you hadn’t asked him to cook, do you think he would? You two wouldn’t even come home for dinner when I invited you. Remy works all day, and when he comes home, he still has to cater to you, Princess.”
Elisa pouted. “Mom, I work all day too! Am I not tired? I remember when you and Dad both worked, but when you got home, Dad took care of everything. He treated you like a queen, so why can’t Remy treat me the same way?”
Audrey replied matter-of-factly, “That’s because your dad wanted to. That’s just how our relationship works.”
Elisa smirked. “Well, that’s how Remy and I work. We’re happy with it.”
Audrey was momentarily speechless.
Alice laughed. “Elisa, Mom is just putting on a show for the Johnsons. You know she loves you the most. Remy is only staying in Wiltspoon because of you. If we don’t treat him well, we’d feel guilty toward his family.”
Elisa knew her family treated Remy well—and her, too. She wasn’t actually upset; she was just playfully arguing with her mother.
“I treat Remy well, too. Our relationship is solid. Besides, he enjoys cooking.”
Whenever Remy cooked, they both ate until they were completely full. Elisa never wanted to waste the delicious food made by the man she loved, and Remy felt happy watching her eat with such enthusiasm.
After dinner, they would take a walk around their neighborhood to digest the meal.
That simple routine was their true happiness.
Grandpa Jimenez smiled and said, “Elisa, if you’re hungry, you should eat something now. Remy probably hasn’t finished cooking yet. You both work hard every day. Instead of cooking when you get home, why not have Remy come here for dinner? It’ll save time and effort, and you’ll get more rest.”
Audrey added, “They didn’t even work this afternoon. Jasmine gave birth, so they stayed at the hospital until evening.”
If Elisa were truly exhausted, she wouldn’t ask Remy to cook—she would have brought him home for dinner instead.
Elisa scooted closer to Audrey, wrapped her arms around her mother’s shoulders, and rested her head against her. “I’ll always be your little girl, Mom. You still love me the most, right?”
Audrey smiled warmly. “Of course. You’re my child. If I don’t love you, who else would I love? I just feel bad for Remy sometimes, and you get jealous. But when you went to his house, his entire family doted on you, and he never got jealous.”
Elisa laughed. “I wasn’t actually jealous. I was just joking with you, Mom—just like you joked with me first.”
Married At First Sight Chapter 4238
Chapter 4238
Elisa added, “I know you’re good to Remy because of me. You hope my future in-laws will treat me just as well. Mom, even if I move to Annenburg with Remy, don’t worry—I won’t be bullied. He’ll protect me, and I can protect myself. Have you forgotten who I am? I’m a little firecracker! No one bullies me—I do the bullying.”
Audrey playfully pinched her daughter’s cheek. “I’m not worried about that at all. Your future in-laws are good people. Their family is upright and harmonious. You’re lucky to have found a man like Remy.”
Elisa grinned. “That’s because I have great taste. Any man I choose—and the family behind him—is bound to be excellent.”
Audrey chuckled, pinching her daughter’s cheek again. “Yes, yes. You have the best taste.”
She was genuinely pleased with Elisa’s choice in Remy.
Elisa then got up to play with her little nephew.
The baby beamed at her, making Elisa’s heart melt. She immediately reached out to hold him.
Grandpa Jimenez loved babies but rarely held them. He worried that his old hands, which sometimes trembled, might drop the baby.
Watching Elisa dote on the child, Grandpa Jimenez smiled. “Elisa, you and Remy should have your wedding soon and start a family. By then, Leland will probably get married, too. Imagine three or four little ones running around—it’ll be lively. I just hope I can live long enough to see that.”
He wanted to witness this new generation getting married and having children before he passed.
“Uncle Jimenez, don’t say things like that. You need to enjoy life. You’ve been through so much, and all the hardships are behind us. Now, we just need to live well and be happy. We’re all here for you, and we want you to live to 120!”
Elisa added, “Grandpa Jimenez, I don’t like hearing you talk like that. Remy and I are getting married this fall—that’s just six months away. It’ll be here before you know it.”
Audrey sighed. “It’s not just Grandpa Jimenez who’s worried—I am, too. But I’m more worried about Leland. We keep setting up blind dates for him, but he avoids them. When we tell him to find someone on his own, he just says he hasn’t met the right person. He’s getting older… Is he planning to stay single forever?”
Leland wasn’t a kid anymore.
“Not long ago, Alice wanted to introduce him to a friend, but he refused. He said if he didn’t like her, it would make things awkward between Alice and her friend. Elisa, keep an eye out. If you meet a nice girl, introduce her to Leland. My standards aren’t high. As long as she comes from a good family, has open-minded parents, and is kind and generous, I’ll be happy.”
She didn’t care if the girl came from a wealthy background or not.
All she wanted was someone with a good heart.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4239
Chapter 4239
The Lafayette family may not be as prominent as the Stone family, but they are still wealthy, making the marriage between the two families a strong match.
Audrey holds high expectations for her eldest daughter-in-law because she believes that as the future head of the family, her eldest son needs a wife who can rise to the occasion. She worries that someone from a smaller family may lack the vision and experience necessary to handle the responsibilities of the Stone family. For her second daughter-in-law, however, she only cares about having a good character.
Elisa reassured her mother, saying, “My second brother is amazing. He’ll meet the right girl when the time is right. These things depend on fate. When it’s meant to be, nothing can stop it. If the timing isn’t right, it can’t be forced. Maybe he’s just destined to marry later.”
Audrey sighed. “At this point, he’s already considered late. You don’t need a fortune teller to see that.”
She suddenly took her eldest daughter-in-law’s hand, patted it gently, and said with admiration, “Alice is still the best.”
Alice smiled, fully understanding the deeper meaning behind her mother-in-law’s words. Years ago, she had fallen in love with Clive at first sight and had pursued him relentlessly—just like her sister-in-law, Elisa, had pursued Zachary.
At first, Clive was completely indifferent to Alice, much like how Zachary had treated Elisa. No matter how much she did for him, he wouldn’t even look her way.
Alice chased him for a long time without success, eventually feeling disheartened and giving up.
Ironically, the moment she stopped pursuing him, Clive started chasing her instead. He had unknowingly fallen for her during her pursuit, and when she finally walked away, he realized his true feelings. Fearing she might move on, he quickly made his move.
That’s how they ended up together—now a loving couple with a happy little family.
Audrey had always been supportive of Alice and had encouraged her from the very beginning. She believed that if Alice hadn’t pursued Clive so persistently, he would probably still be single.
Because of this, Audrey adored Alice. Their relationship was more like that of a mother and daughter rather than a typical mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Elisa, inspired by Alice’s success, had once believed the same approach would work with Zachary. No matter how cold Zachary was toward her, she refused to give up, thinking that if her sister-in-law had won over her brother, she could do the same.
Unfortunately, Zachary was not Clive, and her persistence didn’t work on him.
“Mom, I’m going to grab something to eat,” Elisa said, teasing her nephew before handing him to her mother. She gathered some fresh fruit and snacks before heading out.
Darrell remarked, “We’re not even officially married yet, but every time I leave home, I have to pack something for Remy.”
Grandpa Jimenez chuckled. “As the saying goes, nine out of ten daughters are thieves.”
“Your daughter takes whatever she wants, but at least your son-in-law isn’t as greedy,” he teased.
Darrell sighed. “…Okay, just pretend I didn’t say anything.”
When Elisa arrived at the villa, she saw Remy right away.
He smiled as soon as he spotted her. “I was just about to call you, and here you are. We’re so in sync.”
“I figured you had finished cooking, so I brought you some fruit. These are all your favorites,” she said, handing him the fruit.
The snacks, however, were her own favorites.
The ones at Remy’s house were either bought by him or brought over from her mother’s home. Either way, both houses felt like home to her.
Married At First Sight Chapter 4240
Chapter 4240
“Thank you,” Remy said, accepting the fruit. He already felt warm inside before even taking a bite.
They walked into the house together. The dining table was set with four dishes and a soup—all of Elisa’s favorites.
Being cared for like this felt amazing.
Even though she had already snacked before dinner and wasn’t very hungry, she still ate a lot. She simply couldn’t resist Remy’s cooking.
“Remy, your cooking just keeps getting better. You’re almost catching up to the sixth son of the York family.”
Tatum York was famously known as the “God Chef” due to his exceptional culinary skills.
Remy was aware of Tatum’s reputation, though they weren’t particularly close. Tatum had been away from Wiltspoon for months, and Remy had to think for a moment to even recall what he looked like.
“As long as you like it, that’s all that matters,” Remy replied.
His secret cooking practice was finally paying off.
Compared to Zachary, Remy felt confident he had the upper hand in at least one thing—cooking.
Finally, he had found something where he could surpass Zachary. Of course, he kept that thought to himself.
Elisa had no idea he still measured himself against Zachary. Although Zachary had never loved her, in Remy’s mind, he was still a former romantic rival. Deep down, Remy wanted to match Zachary—or even outshine him.
Of course, these subconscious thoughts didn’t affect his friendship with Zachary.
“I haven’t seen the sixth young master of the York family in a long time,” Remy remarked.
Elisa nodded. “Serenity told me he went to Annenburg in Province X to work as a private chef for the eldest daughter of a wealthy family.”
Remy raised an eyebrow. “He gave up his business to cook for someone else? He owns so many restaurants and hotels—why would he leave all that behind?”
“He’s obsessed with cooking. I think he just wants to learn more,” Elisa replied, setting down her utensils. “I can’t eat another bite. If I do, I’ll need to roll out of here.”
She added, “Have I ever told you about Grandma York’s matchmaking tradition? She picks out potential wives for her grandsons, gives them a photo and basic details—name, age, education, job—and then tells them to court the woman for a year.”
Remy nodded. “Yeah, you’ve mentioned it a few times. Honestly, I think Grandma York is way smarter than my grandmother. My grandmother is straightforward, but she doesn’t stress about marriage like Grandma York does.”
Old Mrs. Johnson had always been easygoing. She believed that marriage was a matter of destiny, and that people should just go with the flow.
She often said, “If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. If not, don’t force it.”
But Grandma York took a different approach. She actively arranged matches for her grandsons, ensuring they settled down. Perhaps it was because they all listened to her so well—or maybe she was just bored and wanted something to do. Either way, she had managed to get them all married, making it a win-win.
That was Grandma York’s way, and no one dared to interfere.
Her grandsons respected her and followed her lead in finding their wives. In the end, they got their happily-ever-afters, and she got to enjoy playing matchmaker. Everyone won.
