Married At First Sight Chapter 3731
Chapter 3731
Liberty smiled and said, “Why make things so complicated? We can just get our marriage certificate, pick a good day, and have a wedding when we have the time.”
“Actually, we don’t even need a wedding—just the certificate. But since this is your first marriage, I don’t want to disappoint you. So, let’s have a wedding.”
Duncan didn’t want to let her down.
She didn’t want to let Duncan down either.
It was her second marriage, but his first. Duncan was the fourth young master of the Lewis family, and it wouldn’t be fair if they skipped the wedding.
Duncan gently took her hand, kissed it, and looked at her with love in his eyes. “Let’s not disappoint each other. We should have what others have, and maybe even more. I promised I’d give you a life everyone envies.”
Liberty smiled and said, “I’m already someone people envy. They wonder how I got so lucky. Even though I’m divorced and have a child, I’m marrying into a wealthy family.
“You’re so good to Sonny, I don’t have to worry. Some even say I’m lucky because of my sister. It’s true—Seren has brought me good fortune.”
The two sisters had supported each other for over a decade and had a strong bond. As Serenity often said, if she didn’t treat her sister well, who would?
To Serenity, Liberty was both her big sister and a mother figure.
“You are a phoenix,” Duncan said. “No matter what people say, we live our lives for ourselves. As long as we’re happy, let them be envious.” He added, “I haven’t heard anyone say that about you to my face, but if I did, I’d make sure they couldn’t talk again.”
Liberty chuckled, “Why so violent? Let people say what they want. You’re so good to me—it’s my destiny, and I don’t mind if others envy us.”
Duncan smiled and said lovingly, “Alright, alright, I’ll listen to you.”
When they returned to the hotel, Duncan told the two bodyguards they could take a break and enjoy their own dinner. After that, they were free to relax. He didn’t want them following him and Liberty everywhere.
The bodyguards felt more at ease with Liberty by Duncan’s side.
After dinner, Liberty pushed Duncan around the hotel.
The Fortress Hotel was in the busiest part of Jensburg. Everywhere they walked was lively and bustling.
Liberty was usually busy with work and rarely had time to shop.
But tonight, she strolled with Duncan. They walked slowly, stopping to browse or buy things they liked.
They stayed out until late at night and grabbed a midnight snack before heading back to the hotel.
“It takes us half an hour to walk back, so I can enjoy this snack guilt-free. I usually avoid eating late,” Liberty said as they walked.
Duncan, carrying their shopping bags filled with clothes and toys—mostly for Sonny—turned to her and said, “You’re too thin now. You should eat a bit more. I think work is wearing you out.”
“It’s not so bad. I think I’ve got a model figure now! If I didn’t mention it, no one would believe I’m in my thirties with a son who’s almost four.”
Liberty was quite pleased with her figure now.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3732
Chapter 3732
Liberty had been taking better care of her skin, making it smoother than it was when she divorced.
She also wore light makeup for work every day, which added a touch of elegance. Sometimes, when she looked in the mirror, she couldn’t believe the woman she saw was her.
Two years after the divorce, she had changed a lot.
Liberty smiled, “Tonight, I’ll indulge a little with you, but after this, no more late-night snacks! Losing weight is too hard—I don’t want to go through it again.”
She knew that if she gained weight again, it would be hard to lose. She was in a good place—happy, financially secure, and Duncan spoiled her.
If she wanted to keep her figure, she’d have to watch what she ate and exercise regularly.
“I’ve heard people say that some men here admire you. They may not have confessed, but anyone can see it in the way they look at you,” Duncan said.
Knowing Liberty was engaged to the fourth young master of the Lewis family kept those men from making a move, but they couldn’t hide their admiration.
Liberty responded, “If I notice someone has feelings for me, I keep my distance and make sure they lose interest. Don’t worry—I’m loyal in my relationships. Unless you stop loving me like Hank did, I won’t give up.”
With Hank, it was different. He cheated and found fault with her, so she eventually gave up on him.
When she was preparing for the divorce, she cried at Serenity’s place. After years of dating and three years of marriage, she had given everything to the relationship, thinking they would be together for life. But it ended after just three years.
The man who promised to take care of her for life couldn’t even do it for half of it.
He said he’d support her, but when she asked for money to buy baby formula, he asked her to split the cost.
Thinking back, Liberty felt calm. The pain was gone, and she had learned from it.
When she lived with Duncan in the future, she would keep her career, maintain her financial independence, and take care of her figure.
Duncan reassured her, “I’m not Hank. I saw you at your lowest, and I never judged you, unlike him. Liberty, when we have our wedding, make sure to invite Sonny’s dad. Let him see you walk down the aisle as my beautiful bride.”
Hank would be jealous.
Liberty laughed, “After all those years, you’re still jealous of him?”
Duncan smiled. “I can’t help it. You were with him first, you loved him for years, married him, and have a beautiful son like Sonny. I can’t help but wish I’d been the one to be with you from the start. Why couldn’t we have gone from school uniforms to wedding dresses together?”
Liberty said softly, “Everyone’s path is meant to be. Maybe this is just the way my journey goes.”
She accepted that she was destined for a second marriage.
But she felt blessed to have Duncan, such a good man, as her second husband.
Duncan sighed, “I stayed single all these years because I was waiting for you.”
Liberty smiled, “You sure know how to say sweet things now.”
Duncan chuckled, “When you’re in love, sweet words come naturally. Look at Zachary—he makes Seren happy and makes her fall for him. Honestly, I think I’m even better than him.”
He believed he was gentler than Zachary.
Even now, Zachary remained reserved around others.
Zachary’s warmth was only for Serenity.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3733
Chapter 3733
After walking for half an hour, Duncan and Liberty returned to the hotel.
At the entrance, they ran into Zachary and Kevin, who had just arrived back.
“Duncan, you’re here,” Zachary greeted as he approached them. He turned to Liberty, adding, “Hello, sister.”
Kevin, following behind, joked with Duncan, “I told my brother you’d show up in the next couple of days. It’s tough missing someone, isn’t it?”
“You know what it’s like,” Duncan replied with a chuckle.
Kevin couldn’t argue—he had indeed felt the pain of missing someone.
“You two went shopping and bought a lot,” Kevin noticed. Seeing the toys Duncan carried, he added, “Sonny’s got more new toys, huh?”
“Yeah, I got Sonny some clothes and new toys. I used to only give him windmills, so I thought I should mix it up a bit.”
Duncan laughed at the memory of always giving Sonny windmills. He had really liked the boy but didn’t know how to connect with him back then.
Seeing Sonny play with a windmill once made Duncan think it was his favorite, so he kept giving him one every day. At first, Sonny had been afraid of Duncan, but after receiving countless windmills, he warmed up to him.
Winning Sonny’s trust had been one of the toughest challenges. But now, Sonny treated Duncan like a father, and Duncan knew he had surpassed Hank’s role in the boy’s heart. Now, it was Hank’s turn to be envious.
The four of them entered the hotel together.
“Kevin, your father-in-law didn’t insist on you staying longer?” Liberty asked with a smile.
Kevin replied, “My brother will pick up my sister-in-law and Sonny tomorrow. It’s closer to the airport from here, so I’ll take him there. I’ll stay at the hotel tonight. Clive is also heading back to Wiltspoon, but your aunt, her husband, and Grandpa Jimenez aren’t in a rush. I think they’ll wait for your holiday before returning to Wiltspoon.”
Kevin himself was also waiting—for Hayden to take a break. After convincing Hayden multiple times, she had finally agreed to spend the New Year in Wiltspoon. His in-laws also planned to bring Hugh to Wildridge Manor on New Year’s Day for some fun with the York family.
During the New Year, Wildridge Manor would be full of life, with the whole York family gathering. His mother-in-law joked that seeing all the York brothers together was a treat for the eyes.
“Zack, are you going to pick up Seren tomorrow?” Liberty asked, thinking her brother-in-law would stay a little longer.
Zachary replied, “You and your aunt can handle the rest here. Kathryn is reliable and will take care of the Farrell family’s matters. I’ll leave for now and stay at Johnson’s place for a couple of days before returning. Seren went to her parents’ house with Jane today. She’ll stay there for two days before coming back to FC Manor.”
Liberty smiled. “Then go be with her. Your brothers are managing the company, so there’s no rush for you to get home. Sonny’s having so much fun that he hardly misses me—he only video calls me before bed.”
Of course, Liberty was busy too, and Sonny didn’t want to bother her during the day.
Sonny was a thoughtful boy, which made Liberty worry less.
Zachary nodded in agreement.
They all entered the elevator. Zachary and Kevin headed to the top floor, while Liberty and Duncan got off on the twelfth floor.
There wasn’t much talk that night.
The next morning, after breakfast, Kevin drove Zachary and his bodyguard to the Jensburg airport to catch a flight to Annenburg.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3734
Chapter 3734
Before boarding the plane, Zachary messaged his wife, Serenity, letting her know he was flying to Annenburg. Serenity was planning to return from her visit to Murphy’s house.
Meanwhile, Liberty took Duncan to visit Donald at Queen’s house. Since Duncan was now part of the family, it was important to pay a visit.
…
In Wiltspoon
With school on winter break, Jasmine returned to the bookstore because staying at home was too dull. Even though business was slow, the store was open, and she enjoyed chatting with the neighbors. Some had closed up shop for the New Year, while others, with family in Wiltspoon, didn’t feel the need to leave town.
Jasmine, now over a month more pregnant than Serenity, was in good health, and her pregnancy hadn’t slowed her down much. Her husband, Josh, was extremely attentive, allowing her to go out whenever she wanted, as long as bodyguards accompanied her. Even Josh’s cousin, who was also her pregnancy nutritionist, no longer objected.
After reading a novel for a while, Jasmine put the book down, got up, and walked around the shop to tidy up the shelves. She knew sitting too long would make her drowsy, and the baby would start kicking if she stayed still. Moving around seemed to settle the baby down, and his kicks became gentler. They say a baby’s temperament begins to form in the womb.
A car soon pulled up in front of the bookstore. Hearing the sound, Jasmine moved to the cashier and saw Carrie, a woman who once claimed her husband’s last name was Labbe, getting out of the car.
Jasmine thought to herself, Why is she here again? Perhaps Carrie was there to buy study materials for her brother-in-law like last time.
Standing behind the counter, Jasmine waited for Carrie to enter the shop. The Bucham family’s bodyguards eyed Carrie cautiously as she stepped out of the car, accompanied by two of her own bodyguards who waited at the door.
“Mrs. Labbe, back to buy study materials for your brother-in-law?” Jasmine asked with a polite smile.
Carrie smiled back. “Yes, he asked me to pick up some study guides and test questions. He’s already finished his schoolwork and wants to practice more over the break.”
She mentioned the specific materials, and Jasmine fetched the books for her. After collecting them, Carrie casually asked, “By the way, I haven’t seen Mrs. York around lately. Where’s she been?”
“Are you looking for Serenity? Do you need something from her?” Jasmine raised an eyebrow, curious.
Carrie already knew that Serenity had taken Sonny to the Johnson’s home in Annenburg—Mr. Labbe had told her. He had also complained that Carrie hadn’t managed to become close friends with Serenity. If she had, Serenity could have introduced her to the eldest mistress of the Johnson family and perhaps invited her to FC Manor, where she could meet the child Mr. Labbe had been trying so hard to connect with.
Mr. Labbe’s real aim was the Jun family’s child, who was a close friend of Serenity’s nephew, Sonny. When Carrie had asked Mr. Labbe why he couldn’t just visit the Johnson family directly or why the child was so important, he evaded her questions, insisting on using roundabout ways to accomplish his goal.
It had indeed been a long, complicated journey for them.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3735
Chapter 3735
Mr. Labbe’s face changed, and he warned Carrie coldly not to ask questions she shouldn’t. He made it clear that knowing too much could shorten her life.
Carrie was terrified and didn’t dare to ask any more questions, though her suspicions grew. She was afraid Mr. Labbe might strangle her again. The fear of him killing her was overwhelming.
“It’s fine, I was just asking because I haven’t seen her in a while,” Carrie said, trying to play it off casually.
She couldn’t admit she was there looking for Serenity—Jasmine might get suspicious. Serenity’s friends were all sharp and not easily fooled.
Jasmine replied, “Seren’s been busy with work. I hardly see her either.”
Carrie knew Jasmine was lying and that Serenity’s friends didn’t trust her, which frustrated her. Despite working for months to gain Serenity’s trust, on Mr. Labbe’s orders, she hadn’t succeeded in becoming her friend.
But thinking about how Jasmine and Serenity had been classmates for over ten years, Carrie regained some confidence. She believed with time, she could fit into their social circle. However, she worried that Mr. Labbe wouldn’t be patient enough.
It irritated her. Why was it so hard to get close to Serenity? She had even used a double in front of Camryn, and Camryn hadn’t noticed. Didn’t that prove she and Mrs. Labbe were different people?
Carrie kept these complaints to herself. She was more mature now, though still impulsive at times. Mr. Labbe’s threats had scared her into being more cautious.
She knew Mr. Labbe wasn’t bluffing—he would kill her if she failed.
“Mrs. York is pregnant and still working hard. She’s a strong woman, truly admirable,” Carrie said with a smile, complimenting Serenity.
“Seren’s always been ambitious,” Jasmine replied. “When we worked together in the store, she never took a break. She was always making handicrafts to sell online.”
Carrie was aware of Serenity’s past. She had once been poor, losing her parents and relying on her sister, Liberty. Liberty’s ex-husband’s family resented Serenity for living with them.
Carrie used to think Serenity was out of line for staying with her married sister, but now she understood something—when a man cheats and falls out of love with his wife, he not only grows impatient with her but also with her family. Because Hank no longer loved Liberty, he began to resent Serenity too.
The failure of Liberty and Hank’s marriage was Hank’s fault. When they first married, Liberty had been upfront about Serenity living with them, and Hank had agreed. But when his love for Liberty faded and he cheated, he grew irritated by Serenity’s presence and also became dissatisfied with Liberty.
In reality, Serenity paid for her own food and helped around the house, even taking care of the children. Nowadays, hiring a nanny costs thousands, but Serenity did it all for free. Yet, Hank still looked down on her.
If Serenity didn’t care so much for her sister, why would she stay? Hank was the one in the wrong—not Liberty or Serenity.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3736
Chapter 3736
Carrie felt she had matured after figuring all this out. In the past, she wouldn’t have understood it.
Love can overlook everything. When you love someone deeply, their flaws seem like strengths. But when the love is gone, even their strengths become weaknesses.
Carrie smiled and said, “Mr. York is a workaholic. Mrs. York must’ve picked up the habit from him. She’s still working so hard, even while pregnant.”
“She’s not pregnant yet, so it’s fine for her to keep working,” Jasmine replied, then asked, “Is there anything else you need, Mrs. Labbe?”
“No, Mrs. Bucham, I’ll be going now,” Carrie said, sensing that Jasmine was being cautious and wasn’t going to tell her anything about Serenity. Plus, Carrie knew she didn’t have a good relationship with these women.
“Take care, Mrs. Labbe,” Jasmine said. She only walked Carrie a few steps before stopping, watching as Carrie left the store and got into her car. The Labbe family’s bodyguard drove her away.
Once they were away from the bookstore, Carrie tossed aside the papers she had bought, pulled out her phone, and called Mr. Labbe. He took a long time to answer.
“What is it?” he asked, sounding irritated.
Carrie could hear his impatience and hesitated. She didn’t have anything important to say—she just wanted to talk to him since she hadn’t gotten any useful information from Jasmine.
Her silence made Mr. Labbe angrier. Before she could speak, he snapped, “Carrie, do you think I have all the time in the world? I’m busy. Don’t call me unless it’s important!”
“I give you good food and a place to stay, but you can’t get anything done for me. And you keep calling—it’s so annoying,” he ranted, throwing in some harsh insults.
Carrie thought about hanging up. In the past, she would have. She had been spoiled by her parents growing up, always surrounded by people who catered to her. No one had ever treated her like this.
But she had seen how ruthless Mr. Labbe could be. She knew he was capable of killing, so no matter how badly he treated her, she didn’t dare to lose her temper. She had no one else to rely on.
At least Mr. Labbe gave her money, a luxury car, and a big villa to live in. He even promised that one day, the house and car would be hers—as long as she kept doing his bidding.
After venting his anger, Mr. Labbe calmed down. He softened his tone and asked, “So, why did you call? Tell me.”
“I tried to get information from Jasmine, but I didn’t get anything,” Carrie said quietly.
Mr. Labbe took a few deep breaths. Carrie was still useful to him, so he held back from scolding her again, even though he was frustrated that she called over such a small matter.
“And… I miss you,” Carrie added, softening her voice like a child asking for attention. “The New Year is coming soon, and I don’t have many people around. You’re the only one I have, my support and my warmth. I miss you. Can you spend the New Year with me, or take me to your house to celebrate?”
Mr. Labbe’s mood improved. Even if he was using Carrie, having a young, beautiful woman so taken with him fed his ego and made him feel good about himself.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3737
Chapter 3737
Mr. Labbe thought he was far better than young men. In fact, they couldn’t compete with him. He had status, money, power, and influence.
Young men, unless they were born into wealthy families, couldn’t match what he had. Even many rich heirs didn’t have his level of power.
“I’m really busy right now and can’t visit. I do miss you a bit, though,” he said.
“I won’t be able to visit during the New Year. I have a lot of events to attend, and I need to be with my family. My wife doesn’t care much about me most of the time, but during the holidays, she expects me to be with her for family gatherings. You understand, right?”
Carrie knew he was married with kids. He never hid it from her.
Carrie wasn’t sure if he still loved his wife or not. Although he claimed they didn’t have feelings for each other, she didn’t fully believe him. He had never let any other woman take his wife’s place, nor did he allow his mistresses to have his children.
He and his wife already had grown children, and they had been raised well. If his kids weren’t so accomplished, he might have done something about his wife, but for now, they were part of what made his wife irreplaceable.
Carrie felt a bit jealous.
What Mr. Labbe provided for her made her somewhat attached to him. If he hadn’t shown his cruel side—pinching her neck and torturing her in bed—Carrie worried she might have actually fallen for him.
“Then, when will you come?” Carrie asked softly, sensing his change in tone.
Sometimes, a little sweet talk from a woman can be very effective.
“It’s hard to say. When I have time, I’ll visit. If I can’t come, why don’t you gather a few friends and take a trip? Or attend some upper-class events in Wiltspoon and make new connections.”
“The more you attend these events, the closer you’ll get to Serenity.”
“Okay. Come when you’re free,” Carrie said in a pitiful tone.
Mr. Labbe sweet-talked her a bit, promising to send her some money to buy things. Carrie was pleased.
After the call ended, Carrie let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Soon after, she got a notification from the bank—$500,000 had been deposited into her account.
Mr. Labbe had sent it for her to buy whatever she wanted.
Looking at the bank message and her account balance, Carrie realized that being scolded wasn’t so bad after all. As long as she played her cards right, he would send her money.
But she knew this couldn’t last forever.
Mr. Labbe probably had a new target. Carrie wasn’t particularly clever, but she was a woman, and women are naturally sensitive to these things.
She felt that Mr. Labbe was growing colder toward her. He must’ve found someone new. After all, he was an old pervert who had been with many young women.
While she still had his attention, she planned to get as much money as she could.
She knew she was just a pawn.
Once her task was done, she couldn’t be sure if Mr. Labbe would keep his promises—or if he might decide to kill her instead.
Carrie’s plan was simple: save up as much money as possible, finish the job, then disappear. She would leave Wiltspoon, go somewhere no one knew her, and start a new life, just like her two older aunts had done.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3738
Chapter 3738
“Take me to my rental house,” Carrie instructed the bodyguard. “I need to change back into my identity and go to Spring Blossoms.”
The bodyguard, speaking coolly, warned, “Your sister’s people are watching the rental house. If you go there now, it’ll raise suspicion, and everything the boss has set up will fall apart.”
Carrie hesitated before replying, “Alright, go home first. I’ll change clothes, remove my makeup, and then go there.”
She also planned to check if the substitute had damaged any of her things. If they had, she’d make them pay for it.
The bodyguard remained silent.
Back at the Labbe villa, Carrie peeled off her disguise, removed her makeup, changed into different clothes, and restored her original appearance. Then she grabbed her backpack and left.
The bodyguards watched her leave without stopping her. As long as she didn’t raise suspicion with Camryn or anyone else, it didn’t matter what she did.
Carrie had just been yelled at by their boss over the phone, though he did send her money afterward to spend. Knowing Carrie, she was probably still angry about the scolding. She often went to Spring Blossoms to bother her sister when she was upset. Even though it never worked out for her and she always came out on the losing end, she still did it—perhaps just to blow off steam.
Her siblings were the only ones who tolerated her behavior.
After getting the money from Mr. Labbe, Carrie wasn’t so angry anymore. She was just bored and decided to stir up trouble at Spring Blossoms, or at the very least, argue with Camryn. Around Camryn, she felt she could say whatever she liked without holding back. That had always been her nature.
Meanwhile, at the flower shop, Camryn sneezed twice.
“Sis, you should wear something warmer when you go out. You’re catching a cold. You sneezed once earlier, and now you’re sneezing again,” said Trenton, who had just returned to Wiltspoon at noon after working temporarily at their family business.
The first thing he did upon returning was visit Camryn’s flower shop. He already knew her routine: she was either at the shop, at home, or sometimes at Wildridge Manor.
“Eldest sister, are you coming down with a cold?” Trenton asked.
Camryn wiped her nose with a tissue. “It’s probably because your second sister was bad-mouthing me behind my back,” she replied. “She must’ve said some pretty harsh things.”
Trenton paused. “Is Second Sister okay?”
He hadn’t seen Carrie since returning and was a bit hesitant to. Whenever they met, Carrie complained that he favored Camryn over her, always reminding him that she was his real sister.
But Camryn was his real sister, too. They shared the same mother, and their fathers, though different, were brothers.
Camryn was important to him, but that didn’t mean he neglected Carrie. It was Carrie who constantly obsessed over small issues.
“Carrie’s fine,” Camryn replied. “She does nothing but eat, drink, and play all day. When she’s short on money, she comes to me, causing trouble and demanding cash. She’s got it pretty easy.”
“Sis, does she ask for money from you often?” Trenton asked.
He wasn’t worried about Carrie causing trouble because Camryn always had bodyguards around her. Carrie might be impulsive, but even she should realize that Camryn was always holding back—otherwise, Carrie would’ve been hurt by now.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3739
Chapter 3739
Camryn said calmly, “Carrie came to argue with me, claiming she has no money. Trenton, do you really think she’s broke?”
Carrie didn’t fully understand how she became Mrs. Labbe, but she couldn’t let everyone find out about it.
Camryn hadn’t figured it all out yet, but one thing was clear—Carrie wasn’t short of money.
Just as Camryn finished speaking, a familiar car drove up—the same car Carrie used to drive.
After being released from prison, Carrie returned to the Newman family and only took this car. The other vehicles were locked away in the Newman garage.
“Camryn, come out! Camryn!” Carrie shouted as she got out of the car and walked in.
The two York family bodyguards noticed Carrie. They gave her a cold look but didn’t stop her from entering the store.
They knew Carrie still had some restraint when dealing with Camryn. Since Camryn hadn’t told them to keep her out, they simply watched, making sure Carrie didn’t cause trouble.
However, Carrie had faced setbacks before.
Though she appeared weak, Carrie was tough underneath.
“Second sister.”
Trenton hadn’t expected Carrie to show up right as they were talking about her.
“Trenton? You’re back? Is the company on break?” Carrie was surprised to see Trenton and quickly bombarded him with questions.
Without waiting for him to answer, she continued, “How’s the company? Is anyone keeping you in check? Trenton, remember, we all have shares in Newman’s business, and we’re also the bosses. We can’t let this blind woman take charge. You need to find her people and get rid of them one by one. Don’t let her run things.
And that traitor Mitchell? He needs to be kicked out of the company and blacklisted in the industry. If it weren’t for him, the company wouldn’t have fallen into her hands.”
Trenton frowned. He usually had a good temper, but Carrie always tested his patience.
“Second sister, the eldest sister’s eyesight has been restored. She’s no longer blind, so stop calling her that. She’s our eldest sister. She owns most of the company shares, so of course, she’s in charge.
I’m working over the winter break, but it’s not a full-time job. Brother Mitchell has been a great help. Without him, Newman Enterprises would have been in chaos.”
Dalton Mitchell was close to Camryn, and many of Newman’s business deals were handled by him with her input.
Because of her vision issues, Camryn hadn’t been able to manage the company herself before, so she relied on Dalton.
Trenton was grateful that Dalton was so loyal to Camryn. If the company hadn’t ended up in Camryn’s hands, Dalton wouldn’t have stayed, and Newman Enterprises would have been in serious trouble.
Married At First Sight Chapter 3740
Chapter 3740
When Trenton’s parents went to jail, he was only eighteen. Carrie only knew how to spend money, and relatives were circling the Newman family’s assets. He and Carrie couldn’t hold on to the family fortune.
After Camryn regained her sight, she still couldn’t use her eyes for long periods, so Dalton continued managing most of the company’s affairs.
Luckily, Callum was now involved. If anything went wrong, Callum wouldn’t let the Newman family lose anything, especially since much of it belonged to Camryn. He would ensure that her assets remained secure.
“You’ve been in school too long, and now you’ve been brainwashed. Dalton is amazing, right? Our father trusted him with everything, and now he’s serving this blind woman!” Carrie’s voice dripped with bitterness.
Carrie hated Camryn, but she hated Dalton even more. She blamed him for the company falling into Camryn’s hands. With Trenton in school, it was natural for Camryn to take over the business, but it meant Carrie lost control. She believed she should have been the head of the family, with all the money she could ever need. Instead, she was left humiliated, used, and forced to abort a child she couldn’t keep.
Thinking about the pain of the miscarriage, Carrie’s face went pale. She hadn’t expected it to be so agonizing and terrifying with all the blood loss. She believed Dalton’s betrayal of her parents, helping Camryn, had brought her to this miserable point in life.
Camryn eyed Carrie coldly. “Carrie, have you blown through all your money again?” she asked sharply. “If you need money, just ask directly. Stop wasting time. Your parents knew what belonged to who. I’ve said before, I’ll reclaim what’s mine, and the rest goes to Trenton. And don’t forget, you’ve already taken some of what belongs to my parents!”
“Because I’m your mother’s biological daughter and your father’s adopted daughter, I have a right to inherit too. You may not have done well in school, but you should know about inheritance laws,” Carrie snapped back, though her confidence was faltering.
“Carrie, have you spent all your money again?” Camryn repeated coldly. “If you need it, just say so instead of rambling on. Your parents knew what belongs to whom. I’ll take what’s mine, and Trenton will get the rest. And don’t act like you haven’t already taken a chunk of my parents’ property!
I’m done discussing this. Every time you come, you say the same thing, and I’m tired of hearing it. If you’re so unhappy, if you think the company should be yours, then do something about it! Fight me for it! What’s the point of yelling here?
You’re a fool who can’t even hold a job, nothing more than a pretty face. Even if you took over the company, you’d run it into the ground in no time. Don’t think our parents left you a fortune—they left debts too.”
Carrie opened her mouth, then finally said, “You’re lying. My mother told me the Newman family has a billion in assets.”
“That’s the company’s worth,” Camryn replied. “But the real estate and illegal profits have been confiscated, and there are huge fines to pay. Do you think it’s that easy to run the Newman family business?
Do you think your parents left you a pile of gold? If it weren’t for Trenton, I would’ve cut you off long ago. I won’t let you take advantage of me.”
Carrie had no response.
“Second sister, you don’t really understand what’s going on. Our parents sheltered you too much. You know nothing except how to spend money,” Trenton said, feeling helpless about Carrie’s attitude.
Sometimes, he even blamed their parents for spoiling her so much.
