Halsey shot Shaun a fierce glare.

Shaun reached over and gave her little nose a playful pinch. “Hungry?”

Halsey batted his hand away and answered honestly, “Yeah, I’m starving.”

“I’ll go make you something,” he said with a smile.

Shaun lifted the blanket and got out of bed, starting to get dressed.

Halsey tried not to look, but come on-when a drop-dead gorgeous guy gets dressed right in front of you, how could you not sneak a peek? It’s practically a gift to your eyes!

She peeked at him just in time to see him pull on his pants and start buttoning his shirt.

Shaun was the kind of guy who looked fit with or without clothes-lean, tall, stylish, and seriously easy on the eyes. He wore a crisp white shirt today, and as he rolled up his sleeves to his elbows, the muscles in his forearms flexed just enough to make her gulp.

And then, like he could sense her gaze, Shaun turned and looked right at her.

Halsey panicked and quickly shut her eyes, pretending to be asleep.

Shaun knew she was faking. The Halsey he knew was sweet and romantic, and lying just wasn’t her thing. The way her long lashes trembled nonstop while she “slept” was the cutest giveaway.

He walked over and placed both hands on either side of her, leaning down close. “Didn’t get enough last night, huh? Now you’re sneaking peeks too?”

“I was not!” she snapped, her cheeks heating up. “You’re so full of yourself!”

“Oh, yeah?”

Unable to keep her cool, Halsey pulled the blanket up over her face to hide.

Shaun chuckled, clearly in a great mood. “I’m off to make breakfast. You go ahead and sleep in a little.”

He gently pulled the blanket down from her face and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before walking off.

Left alone, Halsey lay in bed, feeling like her life had turned into a dream. She had gone to his company, and now she was staying in his villa. They ate together, went on dates, saw a movie, and spent the night tangled up like a couple in love.

It really felt like they were dating again.

Was he trying to get back together with her?

He hadn’t said anything out loud, but Halsey couldn’t shake the feeling that it was what he wanted.

She smiled to herself, lips curving with happiness.

But when she sat up, a sharp ache shot through her body. Her stomach felt a little off, too.

She had a bad feeling. Could something be wrong with the baby?

She quickly placed a hand over her flat stomach. She had told him to be gentle, but Shaun was impossible to control when he

was in the heat of it.

She was terrified that all that rough passion might’ve hurt the baby. And with how intense he had been lately, she wasn’t sure she could keep this up.

She decided to see Wendy for a checkup today.

Grabbing her phone, Halsey quickly texted Wendy. [Hey, I’m coming to see you later.]

Wendy replied almost instantly, [Okay.]

Halsey got out of bed, washed up, and came out to find breakfast already prepared.

Shaun looked up. “You’re up already? Why not sleep in a little longer?”

“I have an appointment with Wendy. I’m heading over to her place in a bit,” she said.

Shaun nodded. “Alright. I’ll take you.”

Halsey’s heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t ready for him to know about the pregnancy just yet.

“No need,” she said quickly. “I’ll go on my own.”
