Halsey quickly lifted both hands and pressed them against Shaun’s chest, trying to push him away. “Don’t do this…”

“Don’t do what?”

Shaun turned slightly and backed her up against the counter, his body closing in on hers.

His firm, lean figure pressed tightly against her, the air between them suddenly thick with tension and heat.

Halsey had no idea what was going on with him. Just a while ago, he was distant and aloof-but now, he was being bold and forward. What was his deal?

He had a girlfriend, Chelsea. And tomorrow, he was supposed to have dinner with Geneva. Yet here he was, pinning her against the kitchen counter and kissing her like none of that mattered.

Halsey’s cheeks grew hotter. “Let me go. Maddy’s going to come out any second… She’ll see us…”

Shaun stared down at her delicate face, his voice low and hoarse. “You don’t like it when I kiss you?”

Halsey’s eyes widened, stunned that he would ask something like that. What had gotten into him?

Shaun took her hand and placed it on his face, holding her gaze. “Do you like how I look now?”

Her mind was spinning. Was he seriously asking if she liked the way he looked?

“Do I not look good anymore?”

He reached out and gently pinched her cheek, forcing her to look directly at him. “Tell me.”

“Tell you what?”

“Tell me, am I good-looking, or not?”

As if he needed her to answer that. Didn’t all those girls circling around him prove it?

Still, Halsey gave a small, honest nod. “You are.”

A faint smirk tugged at Shaun’s lips. He was clearly pleased. Without warning, he leaned down and kissed her again.

Halsey immediately tried to push him away, but it didn’t work. His kiss was strong, intense, almost overpowering. He pried her lips open and claimed her mouth with his.

Her body melted as she completely gave in. That kind of instinctive attraction was terrifying—she couldn’t deny how much she craved his touch.

Just then, Madeline’s voice rang out. “Halsey!”

Halsey snapped out of it instantly. “Maddy’s coming.”

Shaun’s eyes were still dark with desire. He kissed the corner of her lips and whispered, “I’m sleeping in the guest room tonight. Want to come over?”

Halsey froze, not fully processing what he meant.

Shaun stared at her innocent, dazed expression. He looked like he wanted to devour her right there. “When Maddy falls asleep, come find me. I want you.”
