“Your dad has been admitted to the hospital!”

“Okay.” Patricia glanced at Yvette. “We’ll have to leave now.”

Halsey followed Patricia out. Just then, Gilbert’s voice rang out from behind. “Halsey.”

She stopped and turned around.

Gilbert stepped forward, a smirk on his lips. “If you need anything, you know where to find me.”

Halsey frowned. “Thanks for the offer, but I don’t need any help from you.”

“Never say never. What if you do end up needing me? I’ll be waiting.”

Halsey didn’t understand what Gilbert was trying to say. Her mind was on her father, and she didn’t want to waste time with Gilbert. “Mom, let’s go.”

Halsey left with Patricia, while Gilbert watched her go with a determined smile.

Halsey and Patricia rushed to the hospital as fast as they could. Inside the room, they found Cyril lying in bed. He was wearing a hospital gown, a thick bandage wrapped tightly around his forehead that had faint traces of blood seeping through.

Patricia hurried over. “Honey, what happened? How did you get hurt?”

Halsey’s worry showed on her face. “Dad, what happened to you?

Cyril tried to soothe them. “Why are you both here? I told the secretary not to tell you.”

“You’re in the hospital! Why don’t you want us to know?” Patricia colded.

“I didn’t want you to worry.”

Halsey pressed, “Dad, tell us exactly what happened.”

Cyril’s expression turned serious. “Something’s wrong with Lincoln Enterprise.”
