The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1170
“Yeah?” Nathan replied.
Ivy buried her face deeper into his chest and murmured, “I’m sorry.”
Even in her sleep, she was apologizing.
And she meant it.
Nathan let out a quiet breath, the corners of his lips lifting in faint, helpless amusement.
“It’s okay,” he whispered.
Just two simple words.
She had lied to him. Used him. She didn’t love him—she had only wanted a child.
Still… he chose to let it go.
Nathan leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
“Goodnight.”
Then he closed his eyes.
The next morning…
Warm sunlight filtered through the curtains, spilling gently across Ivy’s face. Her lashes fluttered as she slowly woke.
She had slept unusually well. Her body felt relaxed, heavy with comfort.
Warm.
Like she had been wrapped in heat all night.
Her hand moved lazily, brushing against soft fabric. Without thinking, her fingers slipped beneath Nathan’s pajama shirt, resting against his chest… then drifting lower.
A firm hand suddenly caught hers.
“Done yet?”
The low, familiar voice rang above her.
That voice—
Ivy’s eyes snapped open.
Nathan’s face filled her vision.
Her mind went blank for a few seconds before everything crashed into place.
She was in his arms.
And her hand was still inside his shirt.
Her face flushed bright red.
“I’m so sorry!”
Nathan had already been awake.
Or more accurately—she had woken him up.
He was a healthy adult man, and after everything that had happened between them, his body didn’t exactly stay neutral. Being touched like that first thing in the morning had fully snapped him awake.
He looked down at her.
She still looked half-asleep, her expression dazed and confused, like she hadn’t even processed what she’d just done.
Nathan raised an eyebrow.
“Does saying sorry fix anything? If apologies worked, we wouldn’t need the police.”
Ivy blinked, flustered. “I really didn’t mean to touch you.”
“Well, I don’t accept your apology.”
She froze. “Then… what do you want?”
Nathan’s gaze darkened slightly.
“You started it. Seems fair I return the favor.”
Ivy’s thoughts stalled completely.
Before she could react, Nathan shifted, pinning her gently beneath him.
She quickly pressed her hands against his chest.
“Don’t! I’m pregnant. Be careful of the baby.”
Nathan braced himself on his arms, careful not to put any weight on her stomach.
“I know,” he said quietly. “I know the baby’s there.”
“Then why—”
He cut her off with a kiss.
His clean, cool scent wrapped around her instantly, overwhelming her senses.
Last night, he hadn’t even been home when she fell asleep.
Now she’d woken up in his arms… being kissed like this.
Her cheeks burned.
“Nathan…”
He brushed a trail of kisses along her neck and murmured, “Yeah?”
“You shouldn’t… The doctor said no intimacy during the first three months.”
Nathan’s fingers moved to the buttons of her sleepwear, his voice low and rough.
“The doctor said no sex,” he said. “Didn’t say I couldn’t kiss my wife.”
Ivy bit her lip, flustered and speechless.
Just then—
A knock sounded at the door.
