The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1152
Kate pouted. “Don’t chase me away, Ivy. I know you’re pregnant. I came specially to congratulate you.”
Ivy’s red lips curved faintly. “Thanks. You can leave now.”
Kate went on, “Honestly, I really didn’t expect you to actually get pregnant. I had someone look into it. For the past three years, you and Nate never consummated the marriage. Nate doesn’t have feelings for you, and you don’t like Nate either. You’re just a couple in name only.”
Ivy lifted a slender brow. “What are you trying to say?”
Kate stepped closer.
“You don’t love Nate at all, do you? Three years ago, Grandpa forced you into this marriage with Nathan. Three years later, his grandfather joined Grandpa in pressuring you to get pregnant as soon as possible. The two of them promised you that as long as you got pregnant, I’d never be allowed to step foot in the Quinn family again, and I’d be kept away from Quinn Corporation for good. That’s why you decided to get pregnant. I just didn’t expect you to succeed so quickly. How did you trick Nathan into having a child with you? You don’t even love him. To you, he—and even the baby in your belly—are nothing but tools.”
After laying out all her suspicions, Kate glanced toward the doorway.
Nathan wasn’t there.
She couldn’t tell whether Nathan had come to listen or not, but deep down, she hoped he had.
Ivy let out a cold laugh. “Looks like you’ve planted quite a few spies around me. As for your questions, I’m not answering a single one. You can stay curious.”
Kate’s expression stiffened. “What…”
Ivy stood up. “And don’t come looking for me again. Otherwise, I’ll call Grandpa. You know exactly what the consequences will be.”
Kate’s hands clenched at her sides. She knew Roger was Ivy’s strongest backer, and that backing existed because of Nathan.
As long as Nathan no longer wanted Ivy, everything would collapse on its own.
“Fine. I’ll leave,” Kate said darkly.
With that, she walked out.
The hallway was empty. Nathan wasn’t there.
Had he really not been listening?
Kate stomped her foot in frustration and had no choice but to leave.
Ivy didn’t want to see Kate anymore. She put away her design drafts, but Nathan still hadn’t shown up.
Why wasn’t he here yet?
She took out her phone and dialed Nathan’s number.
The pleasant ringtone rang once before the call connected. Nathan’s low, magnetic voice came through. “Hello.”
Ivy smiled. “Weren’t you coming to pick me up after work? Why aren’t you here yet?”
“I’ve arrived,” Nathan replied.
Ivy paused. “You’re here?”
“Turn around,” Nathan said.
She turned and saw Nathan walking in.
Her lashes trembled. “When did you get here?”
Holding his phone to his ear, Nathan looked at her calmly. “I came with Kate.”
What?
Ivy’s expression changed. “Then everything Kate and I just said… you heard it all?”
Nathan lowered his phone and strode toward her in long steps. “You talked about a lot of things. Which part are you asking about?”
