The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1151
Kate replied, “I said you’re going to be a dad. Don’t tell me you still don’t know. Ivy is pregnant.”
As she spoke, Kate carefully watched Nathan’s expression, trying to figure out whether he truly knew or not.
By now, the news of Ivy’s pregnancy was already known to both the Quinn and Lowe families. The business interests tied to this high-society marriage had caused a massive uproar.
Ivy had even openly declared war on them. The conflict had reached its most intense stage.
Yet just now, Kate caught something strange. Nathan seemed completely unaware of all of it.
Nathan’s mind exploded. His thoughts went blank for several seconds.
Of course he didn’t know.
He knew nothing.
He didn’t know Ivy was pregnant.
In fact, he and Ivy hadn’t planned on having a child—at least not now.
Every time, he had wanted to use protection, but Ivy had told him it was a safe period, that she wouldn’t get pregnant.
And now… Ivy was pregnant?
Catching the probing look in Kate’s eyes, Nathan snapped back to himself. His expression barely changed as he said calmly, “You’re really that interested in whether I know or not?”
With that, he turned and walked inside, clearly unwilling to deal with Kate any further.
For a moment, Kate couldn’t tell whether Nathan knew or not. But if she could drive a wedge between Ivy and Nathan—if she could even make Nathan grow tired of Ivy—that would be perfect.
She hurried after him. “Do you think Ivy loves you?”
Nathan hooked his lips slightly, asking with a half-smile, “Do you think she doesn’t?”
Kate fell silent.
Men like Nathan were born rulers, favored by fate. Every word he spoke was airtight. He never gave a direct answer, yet never revealed what he was thinking. He was mysterious, unfathomable.
Kate could only press on.
“You and Ivy married through an arranged marriage. How much real feeling can there really be in marriages like that? Aren’t you curious at all? Don’t you want to know whether Ivy truly loves you?”
She glanced at Nathan and continued.
“I’m going inside to find Ivy. I’ll ask her directly whether she loves you or not. If you want to know the answer, you can listen outside the door.”
With that, Kate didn’t wait for his response. She walked straight in to look for Ivy.
At that moment, Ivy was still in her office, focused on her designs. She should have been off work already, but Nathan had said he would come pick her up, so she kept working while waiting.
Soon, the office door was pushed open and someone walked in.
Ivy looked up. “Nathan? Kate? Why are you here?”
She hadn’t expected Kate to show up. Or rather, she knew Kate would come eventually—just not here.
Kate walked in with a smile. “Hey, Ivy. I haven’t seen you in days. Thought I’d stop by.”
Ivy’s expression turned cold. “You’re not welcome here. Are you leaving on your own, or do you want me to have security escort you out?”
What Kate hated most was that icy calm Ivy carried.
Back when they appeared together, the wealthy socialites could tell at a glance—Ivy was the legitimate eldest daughter of the Quinn family, while Kate was the kind of illegitimate child they looked down on.
In the end, Ivy completely overshadowed her.
Wherever Ivy stood, Kate was nothing more than background scenery—an accessory meant to make Ivy shine.
