“Don’t worry. I know my limits now that I’m pregnant,” Ivy said softly to Wanda. “And I can’t hide this from Nathan forever. I’ll find the right time to tell him.”

Wanda looked pleased. “That’s the right way to do it. The sooner you tell Mr. Lowe, the better. That way, he can take care of you and the baby. That’s a husband’s duty—and a father’s responsibility.”

Ivy didn’t dare expect Nathan to take responsibility so calmly. What worried her was how he would react once he found out she was pregnant.

Ivy arrived at the studio and threw herself fully into her work. Before she knew it, the day was over.

Madge walked over. “This batch of designs is finished. Time to call it a day.”

Ivy glanced at the clock. Nathan had said he would pick her up. She wondered when he would arrive.

She took out her phone, found Nathan’s number, and dialed. After two rings, the call connected.

Nathan’s low, smooth voice came through. “Hello.”

“I’m getting off work now,” Ivy said. “When are you coming to pick me up?”

Before he could reply, she added, “If you’re really busy, you don’t have to come. I can drive myself home.”

“Wait for me. I’ll be there soon,” Nathan replied.

Ivy smiled. “Okay.”

After hanging up, she was about to return to her desk when her phone rang again.

She glanced at the caller ID. Kate—her half-sister.

Ivy was living peacefully in the Capital now, but she was certain the Quinn family was already in chaos. Edric had called the night before to scold and threaten her. Now Kate was calling too.

That family of three clearly had no intention of letting this go.

The phone kept ringing. Ivy reached out and hung up without answering.

She didn’t want to talk to Kate.

Downstairs, Kate had already arrived. She listened to the automated voice on the line.

“The number you have dialed is not available. Please try again later.”

Kate’s face darkened with anger. She clenched her phone, hatred flashing in her eyes. She couldn’t believe Ivy actually dared to ignore her call.

Because Ivy was pregnant, Kate had been kicked out of Quinn Corporation. Roger had even made it clear she would never be allowed back into the Quinn family.

Kate couldn’t accept it. No way in hell.

Just then, a luxury car sped up and stopped nearby. The driver’s door opened, and a tall, well-built figure stepped out.

Kate’s eyes lit up. It was Nathan.

When Ivy had called earlier, Nathan had already been on his way. Now, he had arrived.

Kate was delighted. She quickly adjusted her clothes and stepped forward. “Hey, Nate.”

Nathan glanced at her, his expression cool. “Don’t call me that. We’re not that close.”

With that, he walked inside.

Kate’s smile froze instantly. Nathan was deliberately distancing himself—and embarrassing her in public.

Furious, she clenched her fists and shouted after him, “I’m here to congratulate you! Congratulations on becom—”

Nathan stopped short.

He turned around and stared at Kate. “What did you just say?”
