The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1142
“Good, I’m glad. If Nathan ever bullies you, call me right away. From now on, I’ll back you up in everything. I won’t let my great-grandchild suffer even a little.”
“Okay, Grandpa.”
After the call ended, Wanda was beaming. “Mrs. Lowe, I’ll arrange a few more staff members. One team will handle your meals, and another will take care of your prenatal checkups.”
“I prefer things quiet. We don’t need that many people.”
“Don’t worry,” Wanda said confidently. “I know what I’m doing. I’ll arrange a doctor right away. Tomorrow, we’ll do a full prenatal exam.”
“Alright.”
Once Wanda left, Ivy walked to the window and took out her phone to make another call—to her grandfather, Roger.
The call connected almost immediately. Roger’s voice came through warmly. “Hey, Ivy. Keith already called me earlier with the good news. Congratulations on your pregnancy.”
Hearing that Keith had already informed Roger moved Ivy deeply. She knew Keith was supporting her in his own way.
No matter how much she said herself, it could never compare to a single word from Keith.
“Thank you. Now that I’m pregnant, I hope you’ll keep the promise you made to me before,” Ivy said.
Roger laughed. “Of course. I’m a man of my word.”
“I heard Kate wants to enter Quinn Corporation—and even get listed in the Quinn family genealogy…”
“I already called the company and had all her things thrown out,” Roger said flatly. “As long as I’m still around, that kid and her mother can forget about stepping into our house or getting into our genealogy.”
The heavy weight pressing on Ivy’s chest finally lifted. “Thank you, Grandpa.”
“No problem. Focus on taking care of yourself. This is the eldest legitimate grandchild of the Lowe family—the primary heir. Your good days are coming. And I’ll benefit from it too, thanks to you,” Roger said cheerfully.
Ivy didn’t say much. “Alright. Bye, Grandpa.”
After ending the call, Ivy lay back on the bed. In that moment, all the noise outside slowly faded away. She placed a hand over her stomach. Inside her, a small life was growing.
She had endured an unhappy childhood. In the future, she would give all her love to this child.
“Baby, I love you,” she whispered.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Madge.
Ivy answered, and Madge’s voice came through immediately. “Are you not coming to the office today?”
Ivy glanced at the time. “I am. I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”
“Got it.”
After washing up, Ivy went downstairs. Wanda had already prepared a hearty breakfast. “Mrs. Lowe, come eat.”
Ivy sat down and took a sip of milk.
Wanda smiled brightly. “Mr. Lowe will be so happy when he finds out you’re pregnant. He’s going to be a dad!”
Ivy froze mid-sip.
She had completely forgotten about Nathan.
Everyone was celebrating the arrival of this new life—but how would Nathan react when he found out?
She knew better than anyone that all her recent efforts to please him had been for this child.
Nathan was smart. Once he learned she was pregnant, he would realize she had been using him all along—treating him as nothing more than a means to conceive.
She had tested him before, asking whether he liked children.
He had clearly said he didn’t want kids.
