The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1137
Ivy could feel how hard Nathan was kissing her.
Men really were visual creatures. Last night, he hadn’t even wanted to return to the bedroom.
Nathan’s hand slid down her leg, reaching to tug at her clothes.
Ivy stopped him at once. “Wait.”
His voice dropped, rough around the edges. “What is it?”
“You said it yourself,” she reminded him. “We’re in your office.”
Nathan pinched her cheek lightly. “Stop pretending. You came here dressed like this just to get me worked up.”
Ivy had no comeback. He wasn’t wrong.
Nathan moved again to pull off her dress, but Ivy pressed his hand down. “No. You’ll rip my stockings.”
“I’ll buy you new ones.”
“I don’t want new ones.”
Her firmness made his jaw tighten. He let out a low laugh. “So now you’re teasing me on purpose?”
Ivy wrapped her arms around his neck. “If you want me, then you’re taking me shopping, watching a movie with me, and eating out with me.”
“Fine,” Nathan said. “We’ll go now.”
Ivy blinked. He actually agreed?
She’d been trying to annoy him, to push him until he snapped. She hadn’t expected him to say yes.
What about his meetings? His paperwork?
Nathan lifted her off the desk. “Come on.”
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“You said you wanted to watch a movie. We’re going now.”
Right this second?
Before she could process it, Nathan picked up her black coat and draped it over her shoulders. “Put this on.”
“I don’t want to. It’s not even cold today.”
Nathan shot her a look that left no room for negotiation. “Wear it.”
Ivy laughed to herself. She knew exactly what he was thinking, but she teased him anyway. “I finally wore these stockings today. I want people to see them.”
Nathan grabbed her by the collar of the coat and pulled her closer, fastening the buttons himself. “You’re wearing it.”
Ivy grinned. “Don’t tell me you don’t want anyone else seeing me in stockings. That’s kind of possessive.”
She looked bright and mischievous, and Nathan couldn’t deny how much he liked this version of her.
He liked it a little too much.
“Stop messing around,” he muttered.
Then he took her hand, laced their fingers together, and led her out of the office.
As they walked down the hallway, employees greeted them respectfully. “Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Lowe!”
The executives who had left earlier must have spread the news—everyone now knew who Ivy was.
Whispers followed in their wake.
“That’s the CEO’s wife? She’s gorgeous.”
“I looked her up earlier. She’s from the Quinn family—one of the richest in the country. And she’s a famous designer, too. Honestly, I fell for her before the CEO did.”
“How could anyone not fall for a woman like that?”
Ivy was used to attention like this. She glanced at the man beside her. “I didn’t realize your company had so many beautiful women.”
Nathan let out a quiet, unreadable laugh. “And what exactly are you trying to say?”
“Nothing,” Ivy replied quickly.
Nathan squeezed her hand. “You think anyone in this building looks better than you?”
Ivy blinked, startled. She hadn’t expected something that sounded so much like a compliment.
“All right,” she said with a small smile. “I’ll take that.”
