The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1135
Ivy fell silent. She hadn’t done it on purpose—definitely not.
But she couldn’t say that now. She knew exactly why she was here. She was supposed to win Nathan over.
She looked at his sharp, handsome face. “Yeah, I did it on purpose. So what? You’re my husband. If I want to sit on your lap, I’m going to sit on your lap.”
Nathan’s lips curved. “Yesterday I said you weren’t very affectionate during the day, and now you show up like this?”
“Of course,” she said smoothly. “I took your feedback seriously and made improvements. Couples have to learn from each other—be patient and understanding. That’s how we last.”
Nathan studied her obedient expression, lifted an eyebrow, and said nothing.
“The soup’s going to get cold,” Ivy said. “Drink it while it’s hot.”
She poured a bowl of chicken soup, lifted the spoon, and held it to his mouth. “Open wide, honey.”
Nathan looked at her. “You didn’t poison it, right?”
Ivy froze. Was he casting himself as some tragic hero and her as the villain?
She took a sip from the spoon herself. “There. Satisfied?”
Then she offered the same spoon back to him.
Nathan glanced at it.
Ivy immediately understood. He came from a wealthy family—men like him usually had at least a mild aversion to germs.
“I’ll get a new spoon,” she said quickly.
But Nathan caught her wrist. “No need.”
He leaned in and took a sip from the spoon she had just used.
Ivy stared at him, surprised. She hadn’t expected him to share a spoon with her.
Nathan looked at her calmly. “Why are you staring? We’ve done plenty of things far more intimate than sharing a spoon.”
Ivy had no comeback. He wasn’t wrong.
“Do you like the soup?” she asked.
“You brought it to me yourself,” Nathan said. “Of course I like it.”
“Did I interrupt your work?”
“No.” Nathan looked at her. “Aren’t you working today?”
“I’m taking the day off. I’m spending the whole day with you. You won’t be annoyed, right?”
He’d said he wanted more affection during the day, so she planned to stick to him until he was sick of it.
“I won’t,” Nathan said.
“Really? Then I want you to spend the day with me. Let’s go shopping and watch a movie. You’re buying me flowers and presents.”
Nathan glanced at the stack of documents on his desk. “I have paperwork to finish. And another meeting—”
“I don’t care,” Ivy cut in immediately. “You’re spending today with me. I’m not letting you work.”
Inside, she was thrilled. This would definitely annoy him.
All she needed was for him to tell her to get lost. She’d happily leave. Keeping things limited to nighttime was perfect.
Before Nathan could respond, there was a knock at the door.
“Mr. Lowe,” Martin’s voice called from outside.
Nathan said quickly, “Martin’s here. Stand up.”
“Fine.” Ivy rose from his lap.
“Come in,” Nathan called.
Martin stepped inside and placed a folder on the desk. “This document needs your signature.”
Nathan picked up his pen and signed.
Ivy glanced around the office and noticed a bookshelf lined with books.
She slipped off her black coat and walked over, pulled out a design book, and flipped through it quietly.
