The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1134
The receptionist suddenly felt as though she were witnessing a real-life high-society marriage drama unfold right in front of her.
“Mrs. Lowe, I’m so sorry. I’ve never met you before.”
“It’s alright,” Ivy said. “May I go up and see Mr. Lowe now?”
“Of course. I can take you.”
Ivy shook her head politely. “No need. Please continue with your work. I’ll find him myself.”
With that, Ivy lifted the thermal container and stepped into the elevator. She soon arrived on the sixteenth floor, where the executive offices were located—Nathan’s office included.
Walking across the plush carpet, she stopped in front of the double doors to the CEO’s office.
She straightened her outfit, put on her sweetest smile, and pushed the door open, chirping, “Honey, look what I brought you! A special homemade lunch.”
She had even deliberately softened her voice. She knew men liked that.
But the very next second, she froze.
She had imagined many possible reactions from Nathan. What she hadn’t imagined was that his office would be full of people.
Nathan was seated at the head of the table, while several senior executives—blue ID cards hanging from their necks—were in the middle of presenting their reports.
Her sudden entrance cut straight through the meeting. In an instant, every pair of eyes turned toward her.
Ivy stood there, speechless.
Nathan lifted his gaze and looked at her as well.
She remained frozen by the door, the thermal container dangling from her hand, her polite smile stiff and unmoving. If the floor had opened up at that moment, she would have jumped in without hesitation.
It was a massive public embarrassment.
Mortifying.
Martin, standing beside Nathan, immediately spoke up. “Mrs. Lowe, what brings you here?”
The other executives, seeing her for the first time, bowed slightly. “Hello, Mrs. Lowe.”
Ivy forced herself to walk inside. Thankfully, she had attended enough high-profile events to know how to recover. She kept her expression calm and friendly. “Hello, everyone. I just came to check on Mr. Lowe. Please continue your work. I won’t interrupt.”
She placed the thermal container on Nathan’s desk and lowered her voice. “I’ll head out now.”
She turned to leave, but Nathan spoke first. “That’s enough for today. Meeting adjourned. Everyone may go.”
The executives immediately began packing up. Within seconds, the entire Lowe Group knew the news: the CEO’s wife had personally delivered a homemade lunch.
Martin said to the couple, “I’ll step out.”
He exited and thoughtfully closed the door behind him.
Now, only the two of them remained in the office.
Nathan looked at Ivy. Her face was flushed red, the blush creeping all the way up to her delicate ears.
She looked unexpectedly adorable.
Nathan’s lips curved into a smile. “How did you suddenly become so free today? You actually came all this way just to bring me lunch?”
Ivy forced a smile. “You said I don’t pay enough attention to you during the day, so I cleared my entire schedule just to bring you lunch. I had Wanda make chicken soup for you. Drink it while it’s hot.”
She opened the container and reached for a bowl.
But she was wearing heels, and her ankle suddenly twisted. She stumbled forward—straight into Nathan.
He caught her by the waist, and she ended up sitting squarely on his lap.
Their eyes met.
Ivy wanted to vanish on the spot. Why was today filled with nothing but disasters?
Nathan held her and let out a low laugh. “Did you do that on purpose?”
