The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1130
Ivy smiled and glanced at Nathan beside her. “Looks like I really married a great husband.”
Nathan looked at her. She was smiling sweetly, red lips curved just right, clearly trying to charm him.
His thin lips lifted slightly, and he let out a soft laugh.
But what did that laugh mean?
To Ivy, it sounded almost cold—like he was mocking her. She fell silent at once, feeling as though her attempt at being nice had gone nowhere.
She had never tried sweet-talking a man before.
Seriously… why were men so hard to deal with? Weren’t women supposed to be the difficult ones?
Just then, Madge spoke up. “This is my place. You can drop me off at the next intersection.”
Martin slowed the car.
Madge got out and waved. “See you!”
Ivy waved back. “Bye.”
The car drove on. Half an hour later, it stopped outside the villa. They were home.
Nathan and Ivy got out and went inside.
Wanda hurried over to greet them. “Mr. Lowe, Mrs. Lowe, welcome home. Would you like me to prepare dinner?”
“No need,” Nathan said.
“We already ate outside,” Ivy added.
Wanda nodded. “Alright. It’s late. You should both get some rest.”
Nathan and Ivy went upstairs and returned to their bedroom.
Ivy picked up her pajamas and turned to Nathan. “I’m going to shower first.”
Nathan nodded. “Go ahead. I’ll use the guest bathroom.”
“Okay.”
Ivy went into the bathroom and took a long, relaxing bath.
When she came out, Nathan was already finished. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in a silk robe, holding his phone and typing.
Tonight’s goal is simple, Ivy reminded herself. Get pregnant—as soon as possible.
She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him.
He had been reading documents on his phone. Feeling her soft arms around his waist, he paused.
Nathan turned off his phone and faced her. “What—do you still want more tonight?”
Yes. Of course she did.
Ivy looped her arms around his neck. “You don’t?”
She stood on tiptoe to kiss him—but missed.
Nathan turned his head away.
Ivy froze.
A beautiful woman was throwing herself at him, and he actually dodged. For the past few nights, he had been nothing but intense and passionate.
She looked at him, confused. “What’s wrong?”
“I still have work to finish,” Nathan said calmly. “I’m going to the study. You should sleep first.”
Work? Again?
Ivy immediately tightened her arms around his neck and lifted herself again, pressing her lips close to his face.
“Can’t it wait until tomorrow? It’s late. I want you all to myself tonight.”
Nathan chuckled softly. “You don’t contact me at all during the day, but at night you practically glue yourself to me. Do you set an alarm to switch personalities every evening?”
He sounded amused, but his eyes were carefully studying her.
Ivy’s heart tightened. She couldn’t let him see through her. Until she got pregnant, she had to be cautious.
She lowered her voice and said gently, “You work during the day. I don’t want to bother you. Grandpa always taught me that a good wife supports her husband’s career and knows her place.”
Nathan snorted. “Your grandpa did a great job. You not only never interfere with my work—you even tolerate me having another woman.”
Ivy was speechless.
So he was still angry about Lottie.
That realization finally irritated her, too.
If she couldn’t calm him down, then she wouldn’t try anymore.
“Nathan,” she said, frustration slipping into her voice, “I really don’t understand what you’re so angry about!”
