The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1113
Nathan and Ivy made their way back to the table at the restaurant, the atmosphere still buzzing with the remnants of laughter and clinking glasses.
As they settled into their seats, Wendy turned her gaze toward Ivy, her eyebrows raised in curiosity. “So, did you manage to shake off that bothersome woman?”
Ivy couldn’t help but smile, a hint of relief washing over her. “Yeah, she’s gone.”
However, a nagging thought lingered in the back of her mind. Kate was the type who clung like a shadow, and Ivy knew deep down that this wouldn’t be the last they’d see of her.
Yet, that wasn’t the crux of the matter. Ivy was acutely aware that the true focus of her life had shifted dramatically; pregnancy was now at the forefront of her thoughts. She needed to wield every ounce of influence she could muster.
Wendy felt an instinctive bond with Ivy, recognizing a kindred spirit in her. They were both formidable women, each having navigated their own share of challenges. Their similar backgrounds only deepened this connection.
Wendy herself had a stepsister, Jessica, who was just as insufferable as Kate. The thought of her brought a slight grimace to Wendy’s face, a shared understanding of familial trials hanging in the air between them.
Nathan, sensing the time slipping away, interjected, “It’s getting late. We should head back.”
Stanley, cradling Bella in his arms, smiled warmly. “We’ll have to do this again soon.”
Ivy nodded, her heart feeling lighter. “Goodbye, Mr. Hawk, Dr. Crone, Bella.”
With that, Nathan and Ivy made their exit, stepping out into the cool evening air. Nathan turned to her, curiosity etched on his face. “Are you heading home?”
Ivy nodded, her tone casual. “Yeah. I drove here myself.”
Nathan fished out his keys, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Leave your car. Just come back with me.”
Ivy hesitated for a brief moment but then agreed, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence. “Alright.”
She slid into the passenger seat, and as Nathan drove, the familiar streets of their neighborhood blurred past them. Half an hour later, they arrived at the villa, the cozy lights spilling warmth into the night.
Wanda rushed out to greet them, her face lighting up with enthusiasm. “Mr. and Mrs. Lowe, welcome home! Have you two eaten yet?”
Ivy smiled gently, “Yeah, we already had dinner.”
Nathan glanced over at her, his expression shifting to one of concentration. “I’m going to the study to finish some work.”
With that, he headed upstairs, leaving Ivy alone with Wanda.
Wanda stepped closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Mrs. Lowe, should I prepare tea for Mr. Lowe tonight? His grandfather heard that you and Mr. Lowe finally consummated the marriage, and he was absolutely thrilled. He mentioned that once you get pregnant, the baby will be the official heir of the Lowe family!”
Ivy understood the weight of those words all too well. The Quinn family only had two daughters—herself and Kate. If she were to conceive, her child wouldn’t just carry the Quinn name; it would also inherit the legacy of the Lowe family.
Ivy was a driven career woman, fiercely independent and accomplished, yet she was acutely aware of the importance of children in the world of wealth and status. She needed to get pregnant.
Turning to Wanda, she said decisively, “Yes, prepare tea for Nathan tonight, but make sure to increase the dosage.”
She had meticulously calculated her timing. These next few days represented her best chance to conceive, and she couldn’t afford to waste a single moment.
Wanda’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Lowe. Leave it all to me!”
“Just make sure he doesn’t catch on to anything,” Ivy cautioned, her voice firm.
Wanda nodded eagerly. “Of course! Mr. Lowe won’t suspect a thing. Getting you pregnant is a big mission. I’ll ensure he gets the maximum dose, as long as it doesn’t affect his health!”
Ivy felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her. “Perfect. I’m going upstairs to shower.” a
She made her way to the bedroom, where she sank into a luxurious rose-petal bath, the fragrant petals floating around her, creating a serene atmosphere.
As she soaked, Ivy couldn’t help but wonder what Nathan would think if he ever discovered that she and Wanda were secretly drugging him.
The thought of him being used like a mere tool sent a shiver down her spine. Any man would be furious to find such manipulation at play.
But Ivy brushed the thought aside. The only thing that mattered to her was the outcome.
Meanwhile, Wanda finished preparing the tea, carefully balancing the tray as she approached the study door. She knocked gently. “Mr. Lowe?”
Nathan’s voice called out from within, “Come in.”
Wanda opened the door slowly. Nathan was seated at his desk, his attention absorbed by the streams of numbers flickering across his tablet screen.
Wanda stepped forward, holding the tray with a gentle smile. “I made some tea for you.”
Nathan didn’t even glance up from his work. “Take it away. I’m not in the mood for tea tonight.”
Her heart sank slightly at his dismissal. “But it’s good for relaxation and sleep. Is my tea not to your liking?”
Nathan replied, his tone firm yet weary, “No, I’ve had enough tea today. I just don’t want any more tonight.”
He simply wasn’t in the mood for tea, and Wanda felt a pang of disappointment as she backed away, the weight of the evening’s mission hanging heavily in the air.
