The Heartbreak Prescription Chapter 1108
Hey, Wendy! Where are you right now? I was thinking we could grab dinner tonight. My treat!” Nathan’s voice was casual, almost playful, as he spoke into the phone. After all, he and Wendy had developed a solid friendship over time, and it felt natural to suggest spending an evening together. He recalled the last time they had shared a meal, when she had kindly picked up the tab. This time, he felt it was only fair to reciprocate.
To be honest, Nathan was in dire need of a distraction. The recent turmoil with Ivy had left him feeling drained and on edge. Whenever he found himself in Wendy’s company, however, a sense of calm washed over him, as if her presence had the power to soothe his frayed nerves.
“I’m really sorry, but I can’t tonight,” Wendy replied, her voice tinged with regret. “I’m with Bella.”
Nathan’s heart softened at the mention of her daughter. He knew how much Wendy cherished her time with Bella, and he admired her dedication to being a good mother.
“Bella’s with you? That’s great!” he exclaimed, genuine excitement creeping into his tone.
“Yeah,” Wendy laughed lightly. “We’re at the amusement park right now. Stanley’s here, too.”
Stanley? The name piqued Nathan’s curiosity.
“I’ll come find you guys,” he said without hesitation, feeling a surge of enthusiasm.
“Alright, I’ll send you the address,” Wendy replied, and they ended the call.
As soon as he hung up, Wendy quickly texted him the location. Nathan placed the file he had been working on down on his desk, grabbed his car keys, and headed out the door, feeling a strange mix of anticipation and joy.
Thirty minutes later, Nathan pulled into the sprawling amusement park, the vibrant lights and sounds enveloping him as he stepped out of the car. The air was thick with laughter and the scent of popcorn, and he felt a wave of nostalgia wash over him. He scanned the throng of people, and his eyes quickly landed on a familiar trio.
There they were—a picture-perfect family. Stanley stood tall and handsome, exuding an easy confidence. Wendy, radiant and full of life, looked effortlessly beautiful, and Bella, with her big eyes and infectious smile, resembled a charming little doll. They were a sight to behold, standing out even amidst the bustling crowd.
Nathan approached them, a grin spreading across his face. “Hey, you guys!”
Stanley turned, surprise flickering across his features. “Nathan? What brings you here?”
Wendy scooped Bella into her arms. “Bella, this is Nathan. Say hi!”
The little girl’s face lit up with joy. “Hi, Nathan!” she chirped, her voice sweet and innocent.
Nathan couldn’t help but smile back, gently brushing his fingers against her chubby cheek. “Hey there, Bella. You’re absolutely adorable. You must have inherited the best looks from both your mom and dad.”
Bella giggled, her laughter like music to his ears. “You’re handsome, too!”
Stanley raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. “So, Bella, who’s more handsome—me or him?”
Bella paused, her little brow furrowing in thought before she declared sweetly, “Both!”
Stanley looked as if he was about to press for a clearer answer, but Wendy intervened with a laugh. “That’s enough! Are you really feeling jealous because Bella thinks Nathan is handsome?”
Nathan chuckled, enjoying the banter. “You’ve really turned into quite the protective girl-dad, haven’t you?”
With a puffed chest, Stanley replied, “You wouldn’t understand, Nathan. You don’t have kids yet. Having a daughter is the most incredible feeling in the world.”
Bella tilted her head, her innocent gaze fixed on Nathan. “Your daughter would definitely be really pretty.”
In that moment, Nathan’s heart skipped a beat. Her innocent comment hit him like a bolt of lightning, reminding him of the previous night’s reckless abandon. He hadn’t used any protection, and a wave of panic washed over him.
Stanley, ever observant, immediately caught the shift in Nathan’s demeanor. “Something’s off with you. What’s going on?”
Nathan fell silent, wrestling with his thoughts.
Stanley, sensing the tension, smirked knowingly. “So, where’s Mrs. Lowe? Don’t tell me something went down between you and your rich wife last night.”
Nathan shot him a warning glare. “Shut up. You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?”
Instead of being offended, Stanley chuckled, clearly relishing the moment. It was evident to him that Nathan was hiding something significant.
Just then, a familiar voice broke through the air, calling out, “Nathan!”
He turned, startled, and his gaze fell upon a figure he recognized instantly: Ivy.
Ivy approached with an air of confidence, her assistant trailing a few steps behind her.
Bella’s eyes widened in awe. “Wow! She’s so pretty!”
Wendy glanced at Ivy, curiosity etched across her face. “And this is…?”
Stanley leaned in closer, whispering conspiratorially, “That’s Nathan’s wife, Ivy Quinn.”
Wendy blinked in surprise. “Oh, so she’s Ivy.”
Indeed, she was as stunning as the rumors had suggested, captivating everyone around her with an undeniable charm.
