The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 702
The others quickly echoed Linda’s words, but Wynn stayed silent.
More than anyone else there, she knew that Celeste’s ability to spend money so freely had nothing to do with Matthias or Trevor.
It came entirely from her own abilities.
Celeste relied on no one but herself, and she had already built a level of wealth that many of them could only dream of.
The thought made Wynn’s heart sink.
The light in her eyes dimmed, and the hand resting on the armrest tightened unconsciously. Her good mood from earlier disappeared instantly.
Meanwhile, Celeste paid no attention to what anyone else was thinking.
After several rounds of bidding, she secured the painting for just over 70 million dollars.
When the auction ended, the owner of the auction house personally came over to greet her, treating her with exceptional courtesy.
It was said that the owner was no ordinary person and rarely appeared at the auction house himself. Yet tonight, he had shown up specifically to meet Celeste and treated her like an honored guest.
Seeing that, the Lockets and Shaws couldn’t help feeling a little envious.
Still, their jealousy wasn’t overwhelming, because they believed their future lives would eventually surpass hers anyway.
So in their minds, letting Celeste enjoy the spotlight for now didn’t matter much.
Lilian stood up calmly. “Let’s go.”
“Alright,” Linda replied with a smile.
But before leaving with the rest of the family, she still shot Celeste a cold glare.
On the way home after leaving the auction house, Celeste received a call from Jordyn.
She said Trevor would be free the next day and had agreed to go out for a meal with them.
Celeste simply acknowledged it after listening.
The next day, after receiving Jordyn’s message, Celeste headed out right on time.
By the time she arrived at the restaurant, Trevor and Jordyn were already there.
The moment Jordyn saw her, she ran over excitedly.
Trevor looked at her as well. “You’re here.”
As he spoke, he poured her a cup of tea and placed it in front of her.
Celeste accepted it and replied lightly, “Thank you.”
Trevor glanced at her again after hearing her tone.
Celeste acted as though she didn’t notice.
His probing gaze lingered on her face for a moment before quietly withdrawing.
The two of them mostly focused on playing their roles as parents, responding to Jordyn and going along with whatever she wanted.
But aside from that, there was almost no interaction between them.
The meal passed fairly smoothly.
Jordyn didn’t notice the subtle tension between her parents at all. After eating, she happily suggested going somewhere fun together.
Both Celeste and Trevor agreed.
As they walked out of the restaurant, Jordyn cheerfully held Celeste’s hand and skipped ahead, while Trevor followed a step behind them.
To anyone watching, they looked exactly like a happy family of three.
Jordyn climbed into the car first, but she suddenly lost her footing and nearly fell.
Celeste, who was right behind her, reacted immediately and grabbed her in time.
But the sudden movement threw Celeste off balance instead.
Seeing that, Trevor instinctively reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist and shoulder.
“Careful.”
Only after she steadied herself did he let go.
“Thank you,” Celeste said quietly before moving to get into the car.
But just as she was about to step inside, something seemed to catch her attention.
She paused and glanced off to the side.
However, she didn’t see anything.
Trevor noticed her reaction and asked, “What is it?”
“Nothing,” she replied after snapping back to herself.
Then she got into the car without saying another word.
It wasn’t until their car drove out of the restaurant parking lot that Xavier and Jorge finally stepped out from the shadows.
