The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 645
The next day, Wynn was just about to find an excuse to text Trevor and ask whether he had time to join them for lunch when Jordyn’s phone buzzed.
“It’s a message from Dad,” Jordyn said.
Before Wynn could respond, Jordyn continued, “Dad says he still has things to take care of, so he won’t be coming to eat with us.”
Wynn paused for half a second. “…Alright. I got it.”
Not only did Trevor not come for lunch, but when Jordyn grew tired that afternoon and wanted to go home, he arranged for a car to pick her up.
He never showed up in person.
After the driver took Jordyn away, Trevor didn’t contact Wynn again.
…
After wrapping up the Fleming Group matters over the past two days, Celeste was just about to take half a day off when her phone rang.
It was Jacob.
She hesitated briefly before answering.
On the other end, Jacob’s tone was cool and professional. “Ms. Rodriguez, this is Jacob. Mr. Fleming asked me to let you know that the collaboration between you and Mr. Stone needs to move forward as soon as possible. He’d like to discuss the details with you. Are you available this evening?”
So Trevor had asked Jacob to reach out to her—for work.
Celeste replied evenly, “Yes.”
“Alright.”
After confirming the time and location, Jacob hung up.
Celeste checked the time. Once she finished the task at hand, she organized her desk and was about to leave when Kieran knocked and stepped inside.
“Heading out?” he asked, noticing her coat.
“Yes. I’m meeting someone to discuss work.”
Kieran had just wrapped up his own tasks. “Is it convenient for me to join?”
This project with Fleming Group and Quincy required his involvement as well, so Celeste agreed.
When they arrived and pushed open the private room door, Trevor was already seated inside.
Miles was there too.
Kieran knew the project was mainly a collaboration between YodaVision and Fleming Group, but he hadn’t expected Trevor to attend personally.
Seeing him, Kieran paused for a brief moment.
Trevor’s expression remained calm. He nodded at both of them. “You’re here.”
Celeste returned the nod, shook Trevor’s hand politely, and took a seat nearby.
After a few courteous exchanges, they got straight to business.
Kieran wasn’t deeply familiar with the finer details of this new collaboration, so he mostly listened, occasionally pouring tea for Celeste at the right moments.
Focused on the discussion, Celeste reached instinctively for the cup Kieran had just poured.
Kieran reacted quickly, catching her hand. “Careful. It’s hot.”
Celeste froze for a split second when he grabbed her hand. Then she calmly withdrew it.
“Thank you,” she said evenly. “I’ll be careful.”
Miles was usually the most talkative person in any room.
Today, he was unusually quiet.
There was only one reason.
This was the first time he had seen Celeste and Trevor interact in such a strictly professional way.
The way they spoke, the way they looked at each other—cool, measured, distant—no one would ever guess they were husband and wife.
No one would imagine they shared a six-year-old daughter.
Miles was almost certain Kieran hadn’t noticed either.
Otherwise—
At first, Miles hadn’t thought much about how attentive Kieran was toward Celeste. But the longer he watched, the clearer it became.
Kieran had real feelings for her.
And now, seeing Kieran hold Celeste’s hand—even if just for a second—Miles raised his eyebrows in barely concealed interest and turned to look at Trevor.
