The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 641
Celeste had no idea what Harvey and Lennox were thinking.
Her expression didn’t change as she talked shop with Lazarus and the others over dinner, calm and composed as ever.
After they finished eating, Celeste and Lazarus’s group stepped out of the private room and headed for the elevators—only to run into Harvey and his group again.
This time, it wasn’t the same as before.
Wynn and Lilian were there too, making the group noticeably larger.
The Lockets and the Shaws immediately spotted Celeste.
Linda’s face went cold. Lennox’s expression hardened on the spot.
Lazarus and the others caught the shift in mood and offered polite, slightly awkward smiles.
Wynn, on the other hand, looked completely unfazed. She didn’t even glance at Celeste, as if Celeste simply wasn’t worth acknowledging.
Just as Wynn was about to greet Lazarus and the others, someone walked toward the elevator.
The second they saw who it was, Wynn froze.
So did Harvey.
Even Lazarus fell silent.
The air seemed to tighten instantly.
Celeste was standing at an angle and hadn’t seen the newcomers yet. She sensed the abrupt change in everyone’s expressions and was about to turn around—
“Cel?”
The voice was smooth, refined, and carried quiet authority.
Celeste startled slightly. When she turned, she saw it was Kael.
And he wasn’t alone. Several prominent figures—faces often seen in political circles—stood beside him.
She quickly composed herself. “Mr. Gendric.”
Kael walked over, his smile steady. “Out to dinner with friends?”
Celeste nodded. “Yes.”
He gestured to the men beside him. “Cel, this is Dominic Lafayette. This is Adrian Burlington. And this is Alistair Tillingham.”
After making the introductions, Kael smiled again. “They’ve all heard about you and have been wanting to meet you for a while. We just never had the chance. Funny how we run into each other like this.”
Celeste greeted each of them politely, measured and respectful.
With so many people around, Kael didn’t linger.
“I was supposed to join you, Zachary, and Harold at Theodore’s place for dinner last night,” he said lightly. “But something urgent came up.”
A hint of regret crossed his face. “After the New Year, I should have more time. Come by my place for a meal—with Zachary and the others.”
Celeste responded promptly, “Of course. If I’m free, I’ll definitely come.”
Kael smiled, exchanged a few more brief words, then led his group into the elevator.
Aside from Linda, nearly everyone present knew exactly who Kael and those men were.
Even though the hallway was crowded while he spoke with Celeste, it was completely silent. No one dared interrupt.
As the elevator doors slid shut, the tension finally eased.
Linda leaned toward Ruby and asked quietly, “Mom… who were those people?”
Ruby had only ever seen figures like that on television. Her heart was still racing.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “T-Those people are… very, very important figures in this country…”
Lowering her voice, she leaned in and whispered their identities into Linda’s ear.
Linda went completely still.
Even earlier, without knowing exactly who Kael was, she could tell from his presence that he wasn’t ordinary. And seeing how solemn everyone had been in front of him, she hadn’t dared say a word.
But she had never imagined their backgrounds would be this powerful.
