The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 636
Trevor still had a flight to catch.
After the parents’ meeting ended, he and Celeste gathered their things and prepared to leave.
Jordyn waved at them brightly. “Bye, Dad! Bye, Mom!”
Watching Jordyn laugh and play with her classmates, Celeste and Trevor exchanged a small nod before turning and walking away side by side.
They hadn’t gone far when Trevor’s phone rang.
That morning, Celeste had ridden in Trevor’s car. Earlier, she’d already asked her driver to bring her own car over.
By the time Trevor finished his call, Celeste was already heading toward her vehicle, hand on the door, ready to get in.
“See you next time,” Trevor said.
Celeste frowned faintly but said nothing. She got into her car and drove off.
When she returned to the office, Matthias looked up. “All done with Jordyn’s parents’ meeting?”
“Mm.”
He still had a social engagement to attend, so he didn’t linger. After a brief exchange, he left.
Celeste was about to head back to her office when she ran into Kieran.
“Ms. Rodriguez,” he greeted.
She nodded. Knowing he had something to discuss, she allowed him to follow her inside.
Once they finished talking about work, Kieran hesitated, then asked, “You… have you two made up? Are you not getting divorced anymore?”
That morning, word had already spread through the department that Celeste’s “husband and daughter” had gone to the airport to pick her up.
She’d also heard the whispers—that her relationship with her husband seemed fine. Nothing like a couple on the brink of divorce.
Yet before this, she had clearly been preparing for one.
Celeste paused, caught off guard by the question.
She was aware of Kieran’s feelings for her. She knew she couldn’t give him false hope. Still, she answered honestly.
“No.”
Kieran visibly relaxed, letting out a quiet breath. But he couldn’t help adding, “I heard things have been pretty good between you lately.”
Celeste had already guessed the misunderstanding stemmed from Trevor picking her up at the airport last week.
“No,” she said calmly. “Our relationship isn’t good.”
Then she looked at him again and began, “But I—”
Kieran seemed to know what she was about to say. He cleared his throat lightly and cut her off. “I should get back to work.”
Celeste rubbed her temples.
She knew he understood.
So she said nothing more.
Two days later, Trevor returned from his business trip.
“Mom, I’m going back to Dad’s place,” Jordyn said. “Once you’re done with work, hurry up and move back home, okay?”
Celeste paused before replying with difficulty, “…Okay.”
After Jordyn left, Celeste glanced at her phone.
Trevor still hadn’t contacted her to talk about the divorce.
In truth, she had a general idea why.
At the parents’ meeting, when the teacher mentioned Jordyn’s reaction to their divorce, the look Trevor gave her had seemed conflicted—like he was considering postponing it for their daughter’s sake.
She’d expected him to bring it up when they parted that day.
But he hadn’t said a word.
It seemed he still hadn’t fully decided whether to delay the divorce because of Jordyn.
Celeste set her phone down.
Another two days passed. Still nothing from Trevor.
That day, when she went to the Fleming Group, she happened to see him.
Matthias leaned close and whispered, “He’s back from his trip. Did he ask you to go file for the divorce?”
Celeste shook her head.
At that moment, Trevor looked over at her.
Their eyes met, and she froze.
Before she could react, someone called his name. He shifted his gaze away.
Celeste lowered her eyes.
She was about to refocus on work when her phone suddenly vibrated.
A message from Trevor.
“Let’s not get divorced for now?”
