The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 628
As the workday was nearing its end, Celeste’s phone rang.
This time, it was a message from Zachary: “2:00 a.m. Monday. Be ready.”
Seeing his message didn’t surprise her. After the previous round of work at the base, she had already known she would be heading back there again before long.
After replying to Zachary, her thoughts drifted to her divorce from Trevor. To move things along as quickly as possible, she sent him a brief update about her schedule.
“I’ll be going on a business trip for the next few days. It should take about a week.”
If she returned in time, their thirty-day decision period would not yet be over. If Trevor also made it back, they could still apply for a replacement marriage certificate and then proceed with the divorce.
Trevor had seemed extremely busy lately, so she assumed he wouldn’t reply until the next day.
Unexpectedly, the moment she sent the message, he responded: “Okay, got it.”
He didn’t mention when he would be back. After that, there were no further messages.
Early Monday morning, Celeste left for the military base.
Just as she had expected, she completed most of the work there within a week. However, an unexpected situation arose, forcing her to stay an additional four days.
When she finally returned to the city, she discovered that Trevor had sent her several messages.
The earliest one, sent a week earlier, read: “I’m back in the country.”
She hadn’t replied.
Over the next two days, Trevor didn’t contact her again. Then, three days ago, he sent another message: “I’m going to Glenmere on a business trip tomorrow.”
The most recent one, sent yesterday, said: “I’m going to Jastovia tomorrow at noon.”
After reading them, Celeste took a deep breath.
Tomorrow was the final day of their decision period.
She didn’t reply. Instead, she called Trevor.
The call didn’t go through—his phone was switched off.
It looked like he hadn’t landed yet.
After several failed attempts, Celeste put her phone away. It was just past three in the afternoon when she returned to the company.
Seeing her, Matthias walked over. “Finished already? Why were you delayed for so many extra days?”
Celeste rubbed her temples and explained what had happened.
While she had been at the base, Matthias had continued following up on her previous work. Because of that, he had run into Trevor twice over the past few days.
“Did you know Trevor came back a week ago?” Matthias asked. “But he’s been tied up with other projects again. A few days ago, I had dinner with him and some others. From what I overheard, he’ll be flying all over the place before the New Year—busy to an unbelievable degree.”
Celeste lowered her gaze and replied calmly, “Is that so?”
“Yeah.” Matthias curled his lips. “Just hearing about the number of projects he’s handling was jaw-dropping.”
Celeste said nothing.
To be honest, ever since she had first become aware of Trevor in her teens, he had always been busy. During school and after he started working, he spent most of the year traveling. The time he actually stayed in Baumond was never much.
This year was different. Thinking back on it now, the reason he had stayed in Baumond so often seemed obvious.
It was because she had come to Baumond.
Compared to the previous ten years, he really hadn’t been flying nonstop this year.
But she didn’t say any of that to Matthias.
