The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 627
Celeste was actually very clear about why things had turned out this way.
She sat there in silence for a long time.
The next day, after personally dropping Jordyn off at school, she returned to the company to work.
That afternoon, when school was about to let out, Celeste picked up her phone and called Jordyn.
Jordyn was delighted to receive the call. “Mom, what’s up?”
“Nothing in particular. Just checking in. Are you coming back to your granny’s place later? I’ll have someone make more of the dishes you like.”
Jordyn nodded eagerly. “Okay!”
After exchanging a few more words, Celeste hung up.
Jordyn didn’t know why Celeste had suddenly called her, but since her mother had taken the initiative, she was extremely happy. She assumed it was just an occasional call.
She didn’t expect that the next day after school, she would receive another call from Celeste.
Not only that—on the third and fourth days, Celeste called again. She asked whether school was busy, roughly what time Jordyn would be home, whether she wanted anything, and said she could bring it back after work if she did.
Because of this, Jordyn was so happy that she bounced around in Celeste’s room.
Trevor also made time to call her every day.
Each time, Jordyn couldn’t help but say, “Dad, Mom called me again today!”
Trevor smiled faintly. “Mm, I know.”
“Has Mom come home yet?”
“No. She said she’s been extremely busy lately and has to work overtime every day.”
“I know.”
“Oh…”
At that moment, Celeste came home.
As soon as she saw her, Jordyn rushed into her arms and clung to her tightly. “Mom, you’re back! I missed you so much.”
Celeste gently touched her head. “Have you taken your shower?”
“Just finished.”
After chatting with Celeste for a bit longer, Jordyn suddenly remembered she was still on the call with Trevor. “Dad, Mom’s home now. I’m hanging up.”
Trevor smiled. “Okay.”
Celeste knew that father and daughter talked on the phone every day, but between her and Trevor, aside from the day he left on his business trip, there had been no communication at all.
Even so, she still knew some things about him.
That was because Matthias had been following the progress of the innovative drug project Trevor had invested in. Through that, she knew Trevor was still in Andostan and wouldn’t be able to return to the country for the next few days.
On Saturday, because she had to work overtime, Celeste went back to YodaVision again.
She wasn’t the only one working late—Matthias and the others were there as well.
Near noon, Jordyn called.
Matthias was already aware that recently, Celeste had been frequently taking the initiative to contact Jordyn.
After Celeste hung up, he looked at her and asked, “Trying to make peace with Jordyn?”
Celeste lowered her eyes. “More or less. She’s still young. There are many things she doesn’t understand yet—she’s just being influenced by her environment.”
She paused briefly, then continued, “I’ll do my best to fulfill my responsibilities. When she grows up and understands things, even if she still chooses to side with others, by then, I won’t have anything more to say.”
Matthias nodded.
In truth, this was something Celeste had probably always understood.
Jordyn and the situation between her and Trevor were fundamentally different.
Jordyn had been raised by her own hands—only Celeste herself knew how much she had given to her.
Yet in the end, Jordyn still treated her this way. No matter how rational she tried to be, she would still feel pain and sadness, and over time, her heart would inevitably grow cold.
