The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 622
Celeste paused for a moment, then said, “Alright. But after you look at it, you have to put it back, okay? This isn’t something to play around with. It wouldn’t be good if it got lost.”
If they didn’t have the marriage certificate, she and Trevor would have to reapply for one before they could divorce. That would be extremely troublesome.
Jordyn didn’t think much of it and quickly agreed. “Got it.”
After that, she hung up and had someone take her to the Rodriguez residence.
Celeste returned to continue chatting with the others. After talking a while longer, the group set off together for dinner.
When everyone was about to take their seats, Trevor once again took the initiative to sit beside Celeste.
No one paid much attention to it.
However, from the moment they sat down until the dinner ended, Celeste and Trevor barely exchanged a word.
This surprised the others slightly. In their eyes, YodaVision and the Fleming Group were still collaborating on projects, so they had assumed Celeste and Trevor would be fairly close.
Unexpectedly, the two of them seemed almost like strangers.
After dinner, when Celeste returned to the Rodriguez residence, Jordyn was still there. She ran over happily, hugged her, lifted her small face, and smiled brightly.
“Mom, I’ve already seen your and Dad’s marriage certificate. You really didn’t divorce.”
Hearing this, Celeste had originally wanted to say something.
But looking down at Jordyn’s smiling face, she suddenly found herself unable to speak. She only hummed softly and changed the subject.
“Have you showered yet? Are you staying over tonight?”
“I’m fine either way. What about you, Mom?”
Before Celeste could answer, Jordyn added, “Mom, I want you to come home and stay. You haven’t lived at home for a long time.”
Before Celeste could respond, Jordyn continued, “Mom, where are you working now? If your company is far away, can’t Dad just drive you to work?”
Celeste was momentarily at a loss for words. After a pause, she said, “Your dad is busy with work too…”
Jordyn replied, “Then when Dad is busy, you can come stay here.”
Just as Celeste didn’t know how to respond, her phone suddenly rang.
It was Trevor.
She answered and said to Jordyn, “It’s your dad.”
Then she handed the phone to her.
Jordyn took it. “Dad?”
On the other end, Trevor said, “I’m home now. Are you still at your granny’s place?”
“Yes.”
As she spoke, a thought suddenly occurred to her. Her eyes lit up. “Dad, Mom hasn’t stayed at home for a long time. It’s inconvenient for her to commute from here. How about we move? Somewhere that’s convenient for both you and Mom to work.”
Trevor chuckled softly. “Would you be willing to leave this place?”
Jordyn pressed her lips together.
She actually wasn’t willing.
After all, she had practically grown up there. Of course she’d be reluctant to leave.
Trevor smoothly changed the subject. “Do you want Dad to come pick you up and take you home now?”
Jordyn pouted and stayed silent.
Seeing that, Trevor continued, “Then stay there tonight and keep your mom company. I’ll have someone bring your backpack over tomorrow morning.”
Jordyn still didn’t speak, but she lifted her head and looked at Celeste.
She had missed the days when Celeste lived at home for a long time.
She had always wanted her mother to come back.
But Celeste always said she was busy.
Earlier today, Jordyn had cried when she thought her parents might already be divorced.
Thinking of this, she reached out, held Celeste’s hand, and said softly, her voice a little sulky, “I want to go back tonight, but… Mom, I want you to come back with me.”
On the other end of the call, Trevor fell silent.
