The Breaking Point of Love or The
Celeste knew exactly why Caleb had come to see her.
She had already said everything that needed to be said. But Caleb’s calm, steady demeanor this time… it gave her pause.
She looked at him seriously. “I’m sorry. I probably won’t be considering starting a new relationship for quite a long time, so… Mr. Jennings, in the future—”
She didn’t want to hold him back.
Caleb seemed to understand immediately. Before she could finish, he said, “I know what you mean. But you don’t need to persuade me.”
He gently placed the flowers he was holding into her arms. “I hope you like them.”
Celeste froze for a moment, still staring at the flowers, before shaking her head and handing them back to him. “Thank you, but… I’m sorry.”
Without another word, she turned and went upstairs.
Caleb didn’t show any sign of anger. He watched her leave, and only after her figure disappeared did he turn to leave himself.
That’s when he noticed Kieran standing nearby. The two exchanged a brief glance. Caleb gave a small nod without speaking and got into his car.
Kieran didn’t speak either. He had heard Celeste’s rejection, and he knew Caleb hadn’t responded—not because he would give up, but because he likely wouldn’t. Once Celeste was officially divorced, Caleb would probably act quickly.
Kieran knew about Celeste’s past marriage and her child, but he hadn’t known the depth of her heartbreak. Seeing her response now, he realized she must have been deeply hurt, and Caleb likely understood that too. That was why he chose not to push her further—at least, not for now.
Later, Celeste returned to the company and focused on work for a while. Around noon, Wynn showed up at Fleming Group again.
Jacob was still in the office and paused when he saw her. “Ms. Locket, you’re looking for Mr. Fleming?”
Wynn brushed her hair aside and smiled. “Yes. Trevor… isn’t he in the office?”
Jacob shook his head. “Mr. Fleming went out early this morning with Zeke to discuss some matters.”
A faint awkwardness crossed Wynn’s smile. “I see… Thank you. I’ll come again when he’s free.”
Jacob noticed that Wynn clearly didn’t know Trevor’s schedule. He realized that whatever was happening between them was more serious than he had initially thought—but there was nothing he could do about it.
Still, as he watched her lower her gaze to leave, he hesitated and called out, “If there’s anything you need my help with, please feel free to let me know.”
Wynn smiled. “Thank you, Mr. Collins. I’ll ask if I need help.”
With that, she turned and left.
As she descended the stairs, she ran into Celeste and Lazarus’s group.
Lazarus and the others, thinking they already understood Trevor’s feelings, felt awkward seeing Wynn—but Celeste ignored her completely. Wynn did the same.
With a composed smile, she greeted Lazarus and the others casually and then left directly.
Back at the company, Lilian immediately knew how things had gone when she saw Wynn return so early. “You still haven’t seen Trevor?”
Wynn sat down calmly and replied, “Mm.”
