The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 613
Both Xavier and Jorge blinked, certain they had misheard him.
Even after processing it, it still didn’t quite sink in.
But Caleb’s expression didn’t hint at a joke. Not at all.
Given his personality, they both knew he wasn’t the type to make a joke about something like this.
Xavier swallowed hard. “Then you…”
The rest of the thought caught in his throat.
The woman was already married.
What was he supposed to do about that? Step into someone else’s marriage? Could Caleb really—
Yet Caleb calmly added, “She’s about to get divorced.”
Seeing the stunned looks on Xavier and Jorge’s faces, he quickly clarified, “They were already preparing for it. The divorce was coming, regardless.”
Hearing that, relief washed over them. Their tension eased, and Xavier couldn’t resist slipping back into curiosity mode. “So… who is she?”
After all these years, he had never seen Caleb show interest in any woman. His curiosity was practically burning.
Jorge, too, was eager to know.
Caleb lowered his gaze, casting a subtle glance toward Jorge. He sipped his drink before replying, “I’ll tell you when the timing is right.”
Xavier’s eyes lit up. “So… we know her too?”
Caleb smiled faintly, thinking of Celeste. “You know her, but you’re probably not close.”
Both Xavier and Jorge froze.
They knew her, but weren’t close? That was… far too vague.
They tried guessing several times, but Caleb simply shook his head each time. Not wanting them to linger on it, he smoothly shifted the conversation.
Though they were out drinking, none of them had overindulged. Near midnight, they decided it was time to leave.
As they walked, Xavier lowered his voice to Jorge. “I don’t think Caleb would lie about this, but… when he says her divorce has nothing to do with him, I can’t fully buy it. Maybe she’s lying herself—”
Jorge nodded silently. It was possible. Caleb’s position made him almost irresistible to most women.
Xavier continued, “And did you notice? When Caleb mentioned her… the way he looked… he really likes her.”
Jorge had noticed it too.
But it wasn’t their business. They couldn’t interfere.
The next morning, Celeste arrived at her company, stepping out of her car, only to see Caleb approaching from a distance.
She stopped mid-step.
Caleb walked calmly toward her. “Do you have time to have lunch together?”
Her reflex was to refuse. “Sorry, I—”
Truthfully, she did have time.
But she knew why Caleb was asking, and she couldn’t let him see her eagerness. She had to pretend otherwise.
Yet even as she began, “I have something at noon—” her words faltered when she met his gaze.
From the smile in his eyes, she knew he saw right through her excuse.
Caleb had just returned from the military base yesterday and had immediately contacted Matthias. He knew full well that she still hadn’t finalized her divorce.
From what Matthias had said, the delay wasn’t her fault. The issue had always been with the other party.
He had intended to wait until her divorce was finalized before pursuing her properly—but he hadn’t anticipated the wait stretching for half a year. Even now, the divorce still hadn’t been completed.
