The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 605
Beck, of course, had come that night for Celeste.
When he saw her, his gaze softened as he said gently, “Long time no see.”
They had technically met only last month at a government-hosted conference for corporate representatives. Celeste didn’t feel like it had been that long, but she smiled and replied in kind, “Long time no see.”
She and Trevor were still technically married, though separated. Watching her, Beck noted the look in her eyes—something deeper than a business connection, but not quite friendship either. He lowered his gaze and smiled, keeping the conversation strictly professional. Not a single unnecessary word escaped him.
Celeste, as always, stayed focused on her work. After a brief exchange with Beck, she left with Matthias to speak to other attendees. Beck’s eyes lingered on her retreating figure for a long moment before he finally looked away.
Meanwhile, Celeste’s attention remained fixed on her responsibilities, barely noticing Wynn and her companions. But the reverse was not true. Wynn and her group were all eyes and ears on her.
Matthias, currently one of the most eligible bachelors in attendance, stayed almost inseparably by Celeste’s side. Despite countless women trying to approach him, he gave them no chance, wholly devoted to her.
Linda and Ruby felt a twinge of jealousy but could not deny the depth of Matthias’s care for Celeste. Lilian’s hand tightened imperceptibly around her wine glass, betraying her unease.
As the banquet drew to a close, Celeste and Matthias prepared to leave. Celeste’s gaze flicked past Wynn and her group, indifferent and unbothered, giving them no acknowledgment. In Linda’s eyes, that casual glance was the height of arrogance.
“What does she have to be smug about?” Linda seethed. “Let’s see how long she can keep it up!”
Trevor’s attention was on Celeste, and Matthias’s devotion was undeniable. Witnessing their discomfort, Wynn and her friends grew anxious. How could Celeste not feel smug?
If Wynn failed to win back Trevor, Celeste’s smugness would only grow.
Returning home, Linda, Ruby, and the others wore expressions of discontent. Patricia noticed immediately that something was wrong. Her heart sank little by little.
Ever since Trevor had gotten close to Wynn, they had effortlessly claimed what the others had spent a lifetime scheming for—and still failed. If Trevor’s focus was shifting toward Celeste…
Patricia pressed her lips together, thinking back to when she, Ruby, and the others had believed Trevor’s feelings for Wynn were deep. They had assumed that as long as Wynn made any effort, Celeste would be left with no chance.
She hadn’t expected this.
Turning to Wynn, Patricia said firmly, “When it comes to Trevor… you need to put in more effort.”
She believed Trevor still had strong feelings for Wynn, but she also knew that Wynn had been reaching out recently, only to be rebuffed with work excuses. This passivity was dangerous, and Patricia’s worry grew.
The next morning, Wynn appeared at Fleming Group.
Trevor, seated in his office reviewing documents, paused when he saw her. “Why are you here?” he asked.
Wynn offered a faint smile. “It’s been a while since we last met. I just wanted to see you.”
Her eyes flicked to the papers in his hands. “Are you very busy?”
Trevor closed the file and replied, “Yes. I have a meeting soon.”
Wynn smiled again, serene but persistent. “It’s fine. I’ll wait.”
