The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 604
This was something Ruby didn’t even need to spell out. Wynn and Lilian understood immediately.
Linda, however, only caught on a few seconds after Ruby spoke.
For a moment, her anger spiked. “T-That’s impossible. It has to be just a coincidence.”
Ruby didn’t speak again but cast a glance toward Wynn.
Previously, they had all believed Trevor’s feelings ran deep for Wynn—that if she reached out more, she could reconcile with him.
But according to what Ruby knew, Wynn had already made the effort to contact Trevor over the past two days, only to be told he was busy and couldn’t get away…
Busy enough to brush her off, yet able to make time for dinner with Celeste.
If that was the case, who mattered more to Trevor now—Celeste or Wynn—seemed painfully clear.
Linda’s anger flared, but even she couldn’t fully deny the possibility. She clenched her fists, trying to convince herself otherwise. “Trev wasn’t eating alone with that—” She paused, then tried again, voice urgent. “How do you know it wasn’t Jordyn who wanted to eat together, and he couldn’t refuse her, so he had to eat with Celeste? We all know how much he dotes on Jordyn.”
That explanation was possible.
But what they truly feared was the opposite: that Trevor had used Jordyn as an excuse to see Celeste.
Lilian and Wynn said nothing.
Lilian’s gaze was deep and unreadable, her mind clearly elsewhere.
…
The next day, Celeste returned to work as usual.
That evening, she attended a banquet with Matthias.
After entering the hall and exchanging brief pleasantries with the host, they spotted Wynn and the others—but Trevor was nowhere in sight.
Celeste looked away, her expression unreadable.
Matthias noticed the scene and gave a faint curl of his lips. “Bad luck,” he muttered.
They had come to discuss a collaboration, though the project itself was mostly managed by Celeste.
Throughout the evening, Matthias remained attentive and considerate. He handed her drinks, offered tissues when needed, and kept his focus on her, quietly ensuring her comfort.
Wynn, Linda, and Ruby had noticed the moment Celeste and Matthias entered.
Seeing how thoughtful and gentle Matthias was toward Celeste, Linda and Ruby both felt a pang of displeasure.
Ruby muttered sourly, “They look like they’re getting along really well.”
“I really don’t see what’s so good about her,” Linda said under her breath.
Watching Matthias treat Celeste with such care, and recalling how Trevor seemed to have feelings for her again, jealousy and resentment coiled tightly in Linda’s chest. “She may be pretty, but isn’t Wynn prettier? Isn’t she more outstanding?”
Ruby, too, silently acknowledged that her niece was more accomplished.
Wynn listened to their murmured complaints without saying a word.
Lilian remained silent as well.
Just then, Beck arrived.
Ruby and Wynn noticed him immediately.
Because Beck had rejected Linda in the past, Ruby now felt awkward whenever he appeared.
Linda didn’t dare meet his gaze. Her eyes instantly reddened, yet try as she might, she couldn’t stop looking at him.
Lilian, on the other hand, stayed calm. Seeing Beck, she greeted him with her usual gentle tone. “Beck.”
Beck hadn’t expected to see them. He slowed slightly and returned her greeting. “Mrs. Locket.”
Then he nodded to Wynn. After a brief glance at Linda and Ruby, he turned his attention toward Celeste and walked toward her.
