The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 577
Maybe because he noticed Wynn drifting off, Trevor asked, “What’s wrong?”
Wynn smiled. “Nothing.”
He didn’t push.
Miles and Beck didn’t notice anything off and kept up their earlier conversation.
After dinner, as time passed and everyone started getting ready to leave, the surprise Wynn had been waiting for still hadn’t appeared.
Her heart kept sinking, though she held onto a sliver of hope.
But when Trevor called the waiter over to settle the bill, and it became clear they were actually leaving the restaurant with no plans afterward, that hope finally collapsed completely.
She froze.
This time, it was Jordyn who noticed something was wrong.
Before Wynn could answer, Trevor turned at the sound of Jordyn’s voice, concern already in his eyes. Wynn’s heart eased a little at the sight.
Back home, everyone had assumed he had bought an astronomical diamond to propose tonight—but no one had actually heard him say he would.
They had all read too much into it.
And even though he hadn’t proposed like everyone imagined, it didn’t mean anything had changed between them.
Trevor asked, “Are you okay?”
Wynn snapped out of it. “I’m fine.”
Once she thought it through, she felt better—though the faint disappointment didn’t fully go away.
Still… he had taken the initiative to ask Celeste for a divorce again. That proved he still cared about her just as much.
They had time. She could wait.
Jordyn had taken several classes over the past two days and was clearly exhausted.
It was already after eight. As soon as they stepped out of the restaurant, she yawned and reached her arms up toward Trevor.
He picked her up right away.
“Tired?”
“Mm. Daddy, let’s go home and sleep.”
“Okay.”
Watching the two of them, Wynn’s expression dimmed a little.
Even if he hadn’t proposed tonight, it was still her birthday. Beyond dinner, she naturally hoped they would spend the rest of the evening together—just the two of them.
That’s how they had always spent her birthdays.
Miles and Beck knew that too. That’s why they ended dinner early—on purpose—to give the couple more time alone.
Maybe Trevor noticed her expression, because he didn’t want her feeling let down. He said, “I’ll call you later.”
It meant he’d take Jordyn home first, then come find her.
Wynn’s mood lifted instantly. She smiled. “Okay.”
Everyone went their separate ways.
Wynn had barely gotten into her car when her phone buzzed.
Another message from Linda.
Wynn, how’s it going now?
Wynn glanced at it and set the phone aside without replying.
When Linda first told her about the diamond and the proposal, she’d been overwhelmed—excited and surprised. She had spent the entire day waiting for that “surprise.”
She wasn’t in a terrible mood now, but if Trevor had actually proposed tonight, she would’ve—
If Linda hadn’t brought it up again, everything would’ve been fine. But hearing it now only made the emotional gap hit harder.
And it wasn’t just Linda waiting for an update.
The rest of the Locketts and the Shaws were waiting too.
Seeing Linda ask first, they all looked toward her.
When Wynn still didn’t reply, Linda smiled knowingly.
“Wynn hasn’t responded… probably because she’s busy—”
