The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 572
Celeste eventually pulled her gaze back and lowered her head to check her phone, slowly nibbling her snack, when a young man suddenly approached.
“Hi, excuse me… could I get your number?”
Celeste looked up and replied calmly, “Sorry, it’s not a good idea.”
The man hesitated, then asked, “Is it because you already have a boyfriend?”
Celeste didn’t want to continue the conversation. She frowned slightly, about to reject him outright, when Trevor and Jordyn returned.
“Mom!” Jordyn called out happily.
Celeste answered softly, “Mm.”
The young man heard Jordyn call her “Mom” and watched her rush into Celeste’s arms. Then he glanced at Trevor—tall, striking, and composed in a way that clearly set him apart. And Jordyn looked very much like him…
Realization hit immediately. The man muttered, “Sorry,” and hurried off.
Jordyn looked up curiously. “Mom, who was that man?”
“Someone I don’t know.”
Trevor watched the entire exchange without saying anything.
After putting away the kite, he finally asked, “Want to barbecue later?”
The question was obviously directed at Celeste.
She answered lightly, “Sure.”
The ingredients had already been prepped, so setting up their own barbecue was simple. Throughout the meal, Trevor focused mainly on taking care of Jordyn. Jordyn loved fish. After tasting it and finding it good, she said to Celeste, “Mom, this fish is really good. You should try it!”
Before Celeste could respond, Trevor had already placed a piece on her plate.
Celeste paused. “…Thanks.”
“No problem.”
After that, Trevor kept adding food to her plate. But the way he did it blended naturally with putting new ingredients on the grill, so Celeste didn’t refuse. Most of the food they’d brought were things she and Jordyn enjoyed, and all the ingredients were top quality.
To her surprise, Celeste found herself enjoying the barbecue quite a lot.
After they ate, Trevor continued looking after Jordyn—washing her hands, taking her to the restroom, explaining the different bugs and plants she pointed at. Celeste only had to help occasionally, so the whole day wasn’t tiring for her.
Between her and Trevor, words remained few.
Around two in the afternoon, Jordyn got tired and quickly fell asleep. Trevor carried her back to the tent. After tucking her in, he looked toward Celeste standing outside.
“Not going to rest a bit?” he asked. Before she could respond, he added, “You should get some rest.”
Then he stood up, stepped out of the tent to give her space, and went to sit under the shade umbrella.
Celeste stood there and glanced over at him. Just then, he looked back at her. Before she could say anything, he spoke again:
“You should stay with her for a while. If you leave and she wakes up without seeing you, she’ll be sad.”
Celeste paused. She hadn’t said a word, yet he already knew exactly what she’d been thinking.
As she was processing that, Jordyn suddenly murmured, “Mom…” in her sleep.
Celeste froze. Before she could react, Jordyn opened her eyes—half-awake—and reached for her with sleepy, outstretched arms.
“Mom, sleep with me…”
