The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 569
Celeste was speechless. What exactly were they supposed to talk about? Was he truly that clueless, or just pretending? Before she could decide, Jordyn pulled her into a conversation, so Celeste simply ignored Trevor and focused on her daughter instead.
Trevor didn’t push the conversation any further, but once the dishes started arriving, he quietly began placing food onto Celeste’s plate. Celeste paused.
Realizing what he was doing, she said lightly, “I can do it myself.”
Since Trevor was also serving Jordyn, Jordyn didn’t understand why her mom didn’t want him doing the same for her. “Mom, just let Dad pick food for you.”
Celeste fell silent.
Trevor chuckled and placed another piece of meat onto her plate.
At that moment, the server walked in with more dishes. The private room door was still open, and Lilian, Patricia, along with Ruby and Linda, happened to pass by at that exact moment.
They saw—and heard—everything: Trevor voluntarily serving Celeste food.
All four of them froze.
But inside the room, Celeste, Trevor, and Jordyn didn’t notice a thing. The server did notice them, though, but before he could speak, Lilian quickly came back to her senses and supported Patricia as they continued walking. Linda pressed her lips together and followed with Ruby.
Once they were inside their own private room, Ruby couldn’t hold back. “Didn’t people say Trevor hated Celeste? But from the last time we ran into them—and just now too… he’s treating her pretty well. That’s—”
Linda immediately got what her mother was implying. She let out a sharp scoff. “Do we really have to spell it out? Trev is obviously putting on an act for that brat’s sake. Mom, you don’t seriously think he’s catching feelings for that bitch, right? There’s no way.”
The last time they ran into Trevor, Celeste, and Jordyn together, Ruby had thought the same thing. Even now, that was still her instinct.
But—
Both last time and this time, something about Trevor felt… too genuine. Too natural. He didn’t look like he was acting at all. He looked like he was actually willing to treat Celeste well.
Thinking about that, she suddenly remembered something. “Didn’t Wynn say before that Trevor wouldn’t even bother putting on a good face in front of the kid? Meaning, even for his daughter’s sake, he wouldn’t pretend. But these two times… it doesn’t look like that at all.”
Linda still brushed it off. “Back then the brat was young and clueless. Now she’s older, and with the internet, kids know all about divorce and everything. She’s not that easy to fool anymore. Of course Trev would adjust his attitude a bit to keep her appeased. That’s normal.”
Impulsive as she usually was, Linda’s reasoning sounded believable this time.
Ruby laughed. “That’s true.”
When Lilian and Patricia first saw Trevor taking the initiative with Celeste, they’d panicked. But honestly, even before Linda spelled it out, they had already figured out the same explanation. So they calmed down quickly, called the server back in, and began ordering.
Later that day, when they went home, they told Wynn everything—running into Trevor, Celeste, and Jordyn, and especially the part about Trevor actively treating Celeste well.
The Shaw family assumed Wynn wouldn’t care.
Linda couldn’t help complaining, “If you ask me, Trev just cares too much about that brat. If it weren’t for her, why would he have to stomach the disgust of acting affectionate with Celeste?”
Ruby nodded. “Exactly.”
Wynn listened, lowered her eyes, and said nothing.
