The Breaking Point of Love / The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife — Chapter 563
Jordyn stayed at the Rodriguez residence that night, but only for one night. By the next evening, Trevor had already sent someone to pick her up.
Because Celeste’s collaboration with the Fleming Group was reaching a new breakthrough, she arrived at the company early the next morning.
At noon, when she went out for lunch with Jericho Doyle—another Fleming Group executive—Lazarus, and a few others, they ran into Wynn in the lobby.
Seeing her, Lazarus and the others immediately greeted her respectfully.
“Ms. Locket.”
Wynn gave a slight nod. “Heading out for lunch?”
“Yes.” Lazarus smiled, and since Wynn was essentially considered the future wife of Fleming Group’s CEO, he assumed she would at least exchange a polite word with Celeste—so he waited.
But to his surprise, Wynn acted as if Celeste wasn’t even there. She simply smiled at the others and said, “Alright, I’ll let you all get to it. Let’s have lunch together another time.”
Lazarus froze for a moment. So did the other Fleming Group staff.
For a second, no one was sure whether Wynn genuinely didn’t recognize Celeste or was pretending not to.
But as far as they remembered, Celeste and Wynn had definitely met before. They’d even heard that InnovaTech and YodaVision had collaborated.
So how could Wynn possibly not know her?
Still, they soon noticed something else—Celeste hadn’t greeted Wynn either.
It was as if she didn’t know Wynn was Trevor’s girlfriend, or the current head of InnovaTech.
Wynn truly didn’t look at Celeste at all—she treated her as if she didn’t exist. She gave the others a polite nod, then turned and walked off.
Celeste hadn’t wanted to look at her either, but with Wynn standing so close, it was impossible to ignore her completely. Even without looking directly at her, Celeste caught the faint contempt in Wynn’s expression—as if she wasn’t even worth acknowledging.
After Wynn left, Lazarus finally sensed that something was off.
If the two women truly didn’t know each other, then with how much respect they all showed Celeste, Wynn would’ve at least asked who she was.
But she hadn’t.
That thought jogged another memory—how Trevor had personally come down several times to sit in on meetings whenever Celeste was presenting, supposedly because he “appreciated her work.”
Could Wynn have misunderstood something because of that?
With that thought, Lazarus glanced at Celeste.
She looked calm and unbothered, as if she hadn’t noticed anything.
Seeing her reaction, the others at Fleming Group assumed there must be some kind of misunderstanding between Wynn and Celeste because of Trevor.
But none of them were foolish enough to ask.
That day, Celeste stayed at Fleming Group until past seven in the evening.
Lazarus courteously walked her downstairs.
She’d been to Fleming Group many times before, but she didn’t often run into Trevor and Wynn.
This time, however, just as she and Lazarus stepped into the elevator, they ran into the two of them again.
When Trevor saw them, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes.
Wynn, however, remained just as cold. After giving Celeste a brief glance, she looked away.
Lazarus greeted them first. “Mr. Fleming, Ms. Locket.”
Both nodded in response.
Then Trevor looked at Celeste.
She lowered her gaze and didn’t acknowledge him.
He watched her for a moment, then asked, “You’ll be coming to Fleming Group these next few days as well?”
Feeling his gaze, Celeste knew he was speaking to her. She finally replied with a quiet, calm hum.
