The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 558
Celeste felt the same way.
When both sides had fewer disputes, filing for divorce could go smoothly. However, she would soon have to make a trip to the military base, and her return date was uncertain.
If she filed for divorce as the plaintiff and then missed the hearing, the case would be dismissed. In that situation, a mutual-consent divorce seemed more practical.
At least with a mutual-consent divorce, once the mandatory waiting period was over, she and Trevor could pick up the divorce certificate whenever their schedules lined up. It might actually make things simpler.
Since she believed that if Trevor had time, he’d be the first to contact her about finalizing the divorce at the courthouse, she hadn’t bothered to reach out to him yesterday.
If he was busy, there was no point pushing him every day.
But now—
Celeste looked toward Trevor, a faint furrow forming between her brows.
If one party filed for divorce, the defendant didn’t have to appear in court. It wasn’t impossible for Trevor to file as the plaintiff instead, but—
Matthias knew she was debating whether she should take the initiative, and he also understood her concerns. He asked quietly, “Still haven’t filed?”
Celeste shook her head.
Matthias understood her hesitation.
Trevor was far too biased toward Wynn and her family. If Trevor filed the case, they couldn’t be sure he wouldn’t suddenly change the terms of their original agreement on the day of the hearing—especially if Celeste couldn’t attend.
If he altered anything while she wasn’t there, she’d be at a disadvantage.
Celeste didn’t want anything from Trevor.
In their agreement, she had already given up custody of Jordyn. As for his assets, she didn’t necessarily need them…
But the idea of forfeiting everything and letting Wynn and the Shaws benefit from it didn’t sit right with her.
Trevor’s offer had been incredibly generous. Even Matthias thought it would be a shame to let Wynn’s side take advantage of it.
With a sigh, he patted her shoulder.
Celeste looked at Trevor but didn’t say a word.
Sensing her gaze, he glanced over. When he saw her still looking at him, he curved his lips slightly, as if to ask whether she had something to say.
Celeste calmly withdrew her gaze.
Trevor didn’t speak either and looked away.
The meeting continued.
Trevor stayed until the very end before finally getting ready to leave.
Before walking out, he said politely to Celeste and Matthias, “The project is progressing very well. I’m confident in our future cooperation. Thank you both for your hard work.”
Though annoyed with him, Matthias still had to respond politely. “Mr. Fleming, you flatter us.”
Trevor didn’t reply. He gave Celeste one last look before leaving.
As they watched him walk away, Matthias frowned. “Is there something going on with this project inside Fleming Group?”
Even though he had complained that Trevor seemed free, Matthias knew that if Trevor truly had free time, he would’ve already arranged to finalize the divorce with Celeste.
So, even if this meeting didn’t require Trevor to be here, there had to be a reason—something they didn’t yet know.
Celeste had thought the same thing.
She shook her head. “No idea. I’ve asked around and haven’t heard anything unusual.”
Matthias frowned slightly and said under his breath, “Keep an eye on things, just in case. If something comes up, we need to react quickly.”
Celeste nodded and shifted her attention back to work. “Got it.”
