The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 557
Around dinnertime, when the Lockets and the Shaws saw Wynn getting ready to head out, they finally realized Trevor had already returned from abroad.
When they heard he’d come back that afternoon, Ruby couldn’t help stomping her foot in frustration.
“What? He came back this afternoon? If only he’d returned half a day earlier! The decision period is already over—”
Linda quickly chimed in, “Exactly!”
In truth, it wasn’t just them. Even Lilian and the others felt the same wave of regret.
Two days ago, when Wynn told them that Trevor probably wouldn’t make it back before the decision period ended to finalize the divorce with Celeste, they still held onto a sliver of hope.
They thought maybe—for Wynn’s sake—he might come back early and surprise her by ending things with Celeste.
But he didn’t make it back in time.
So when they learned he had returned that very afternoon, the disappointment hit all over again.
If he had come back just half a day earlier, he and Celeste would already be divorced. And because of that half day, they would now have to wait at least another month.
But there was no point dwelling on it.
Patricia sighed. “Trevor hasn’t been home for a long time. I wonder if he’ll still be busy after this. If he has some free time, Wynn, make sure he comes over for dinner. We still haven’t properly thanked him for his help before.”
Wynn listened quietly and answered in a calm voice, “Okay.”
Meanwhile, after work, Celeste went to dinner with Matthias, Zachary, and Nadine. Afterward, she joined Nadine for a bit of shopping.
By the time she returned home, it was already past nine.
When she checked her phone, she saw several messages from Jordyn saying Trevor had brought gifts and that she’d bring them over in a few days when she had time.
Celeste stared at the messages for a long moment before replying with a single word:
“Okay.”
After sending it, she remembered that tomorrow was Friday. She exited the chat and checked her messages again.
Still nothing from Trevor.
She held her phone in silence for a while, then finally set it aside and went to shower.
The next morning, Celeste kept her phone close. Even after she arrived at the office, there was still no message from Trevor asking her to go to the courthouse for the divorce.
When Matthias walked in and saw she was already there, he immediately understood she hadn’t finalized the divorce that day either.
He muttered, irritated, “Is he really that busy?”
Celeste didn’t respond.
After discussing a few things, the two of them headed to Fleming Group half an hour later.
While speaking with some of the staff from Fleming Group, they suddenly heard someone greet politely, “Mr. Fleming.”
Both Celeste and Matthias looked up and saw Trevor entering the conference room.
He nodded politely at them.
Celeste paused for a beat while Matthias frowned.
Then the meeting began—moving smoothly and predictably, just as expected.
Trevor sat there the entire time, silent. He didn’t need to participate at all.
In other words, the meeting had nothing to do with him.
So why was he there?
Matthias clenched his jaw, leaned slightly toward Celeste, and muttered under his breath, “And he says he doesn’t have time? He looks pretty damn free to me.”
