The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 556
On the very last day of the decision period, Trevor still didn’t make it back to the country.
Just like that, the divorce decision period quietly came to an end.
Celeste assumed he’d probably return within the next few days, but the following day—while she and Matthias were discussing work—Jordyn suddenly called to say Trevor was back.
Matthias let out a disbelieving laugh. “Seriously? Of all times, he comes back right after the decision period ends? He has to be doing this on purpose.”
Celeste set down her phone, her expression unreadable.
On purpose? Of course not. It was more likely just a coincidence.
Matthias knew that too, but he couldn’t help being annoyed.
“Why not just file for divorce directly then? Though… from filing to the first hearing, that’ll take at least a month.”
Before they could continue, someone knocked on the door, cutting the conversation short for now.
Meanwhile, in the group chat with Trevor, Miles, Beck, and Wynn, Trevor suddenly tagged all three of them.
“Dinner tonight?”
Miles reacted first. “Hold on— you’re back? When did you come back?”
Trevor replied, “Just landed.”
Miles sent three dots in a row, the text equivalent of an exasperated eye roll, then followed up with a long message:
“I literally called you the day before yesterday—two days before your divorce decision period ended—asking if you could make it back in time. You said no, that you’d still be tied up for a while.
I figured you weren’t coming back anytime soon. And now you show up? You couldn’t have come back one day earlier? Celeste’s divorce decision period already ended!”
Wynn had noticed the moment Trevor messaged the group too, but she kept quiet.
When he was abroad, she had tried calling him several times. Maybe he’d been too busy—or maybe he just didn’t want to answer—but he hadn’t picked up a single one.
He returned one call, though.
And like Miles, she had asked him two days ago when he’d be coming home.
His answer had been exactly the same.
So she also assumed he’d wait a few more days before returning—slow and dramatic as always.
She didn’t expect this.
Reading the exchange between Miles and Trevor, something sharp and almost sarcastic flickered in her eyes.
Then Trevor replied in the group chat:
“There was a change in my schedule, so I came back two days early.”
Miles didn’t respond.
A moment later, Trevor tagged them again.
“So, are you free for dinner?”
Miles responded immediately. “Of course I’m free.”
It had been a while since the four of them had gotten together. Since Trevor finally had time, Miles was excited—and even helped tag Beck and Wynn.
But right after tagging, he hesitated and deleted it.
Then he typed,
“Wait. Tagging me and Beck is fine, but did you really have to tag Wynn in the group?”
Beck had just gotten off work.
Seeing Trevor’s messages, he froze for a second before replying, “Trevor, I’m free. See you tonight.”
Trevor responded, “Okay.”
Wynn was curious how Trevor would react to Miles’s teasing.
But Trevor didn’t react at all. He didn’t respond—not even a single word.
Staring at the screen, Wynn tightened her grip on her phone, unmoving.
Then her screen lit up again.
A private message—from Trevor.
“Busy?”
